All you need to do is wrap it around the handle bar and pull straight up. The band is SUPER strong so you do not have to worry about it snapping or breaking off so long as you remain within the approved weight limit. You can also use this for light packaging but be aware that the reading is not down to ounces so I would really only use this for pound. Other than that, it gives you a pretty accurate reading which is great. It is battery powered and it does come with the batteries but it ran out super fast. It uses a CR2032 coin battery. It is easy to replace just pull the tab down. How long it last will depend on the batteries you use it. The scale can handle up to 110 lb and cannot be converted to other measurement like kilograms or grams. The data is actually pretty accurate from what I compared at the airport scale. You get the data to the nearest tenth pound. There is pretty good grip on the bottom and you do not have to worry about it sliding out of your hands. Other than that, I am happy this scale. It is accurate and allows you to get a very accurate weight. For me, it helps me with making sure I do not go over the airport baggage weight limit. It is also light and easy to store in my carry on. The only issue I have is the battery that it came with burned out way too fast.
