Alpha - Taken: A Dark Mate-Claim Romance (Alpha Series Book 1)

I really enjoyed this short story and will look at the next book. I would definitely recommend this book and the author. Interesting and different from anything I have read so far.

Somebody call 911! I may have actually swooned after reading Taken, the first book of the Alpha Omegaverse serial by Nora Ash! And this is only the first installment! I was completely captivated, hanging on the edge of my seat with a death-grip on my ereader while my heart fluttered wildly in my chest, and this was in the first chapter! lol... By the time I got to the last page, I was heaving for my next breath. No one writes erotic romance quite like Nora Ash. I've been a fan for years and race to Amazon every time she has a new release and Ash didn't disappoint in Taken! Did I like this book? Yes, very much! Now, let me tell you why! Taken is an imaginative, riveting, seductive, fast-paced, well-crafted, easy-to-follow erotic romance with strong omegaverse elements. For folks unfamiliar with the term, Omegaverse is a subgenre of fan fiction in which canine-type characteristics are given to the characters, including alpha/beta/omega designations and usually contains strong themes of dominance, submission, possession, and typically also includes the strong use of 'soul mates' and the concept of sex or mating as a biological imperative. It varies with each author but I've always found Ash's work in this particular fandom to be fascinating as well as titillating. The narrative is beautifully written with a first-person perspective from the heroine but as of yet, we don't know her identity. The dialogue is smart, snappy, sexy, well-executed, flows effortlessly, and is balanced with the perfect combination of internal monologue. But the piece de resistance of every Ash story is her cast of always unique and intriguing characters. One of the things I love most about Ash's writing is her ability to write harsh, gruff, growly, and bad to the bone alpha antiheroes and somehow make them sexy, engaging, and endearing to the reader. This is only the first installment, so we haven't been formally introduced to the hero, or dare I say antihero. At this point, it's yet to be determined, but that's another thing I love about Ash's work, her ability to always keep the reader guessing. No spoilers from me, but I will say this... Sexy, growly Alphas who take what they want-check! Beautiful reporter who's in way over her head-check! Pulse-pounding danger, heart-seizing action, compelling drama, undeniable attraction, inescapable submission, explosive passion, and steamy sex-you bet! That and a whole lot more! So I'll ask again, did I like it? Yes, very much! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers. It does contain explicit language, violence, and sex, and definitely not suitable for anyone under 17. If you've never read Omegaverse fan fiction, don't knock it till you've tried it! If you enjoy paranormal romance with elements of BDSM, you'll probably love this story! But FYI, these Alphas are not shifters, they're human with an overabundance of testosterone and alpha pheromones. As I stated above, this is not a standalone read and does end with a cliffhanger. Since this is only the first installment, it makes it difficult to rate the story but so far, so good. There are two more books in this serial and both are already available. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! I've already purchased the second and third books, Alpha Masquerade and Alpha Mated, which I intend to dive into immediately! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

I’m giving my review on all 3 books in one in case you want to buy the bundle like I did. I usually don’t buy books I usually wait till their on Kindle Unlimited. But I love Omegaverse stories; find them very hot and spicy! The sample was very short but it started off really good so I bit the bullet and paid the $7 for all 3 books. I was already aware that the first installment was small and a very fast for that amount of money but it was really well written, very hot, spicy and full of male Alpha macho that it was good. It was well written, active and believable. Second book a bit longer and still gave it the same reviews as above, very hot, tons of details that made it good, engaging and believable. Third installment is where I have to seriously think about how to rate the installment. The first part and the last parts are good; the middle in my opinion needs to be re written. An Alpha is a man who is self assured, knows who he is, doesn’t for the most part care what other think of them because they are who they are. An Alpha takes what they want or knows what they want and aim for it. But in the third installment his whole character was brought down and torn up. He was made to be judgmental of himself, ashamed of being an Alpha; it was like the writer was trying to feminize him for the sheer sake of a leftist ideology. This destroyed the character. From that point on anytime he tried to be a strong Alpha again I was waiting for when he would turn into a pansy again. So 3 stars only because the Alpha was destroyed and replaced with a wimp.

Utterly fascinating quick read which I totally enjoyed reading and would absolutely recommend with the hope that others enjoy it as well. Being a reporter and somehow presenting and making all the Alphas present go into Rut and fight wasn't planned. Great first part and should get even more interesting.

This is just a tiny novella that leads to the bigger book. I’m a little bit upset that this was offered in the stuff your Kindle. There are some serious grammar errors in this book and they’re glaringly obvious in the 50 pages of this book. The story is OK. I mean, I wanna read the rest of it. I don’t wanna pay for the rest of it.

I liked the various stories. I am eager to read the entire books for several of the stories. This was a great premier of several shifter romance stories.

How is it legal to "publish" a book with so few pages? Complete rip off.

I'm only giving this 3 stars because of the length of the books and the price of the other two books in this series. They are *very* short, and, in my opinion, not worth the $6.97 for something I can read within a couple of hours. That said, the story was great and really had me very interested. The author builds an interesting world and I liked the rawness and potential for the story arc. I headed straight back to Amazon for the other titles as soon as I finished this one until I saw the prices.

So disappointed!!! The story was written in such a hurry....there was no story at all. I do not recommend this book.

Great read

Not without fail, but it was a great read nonetheless. Though it ended quite abruptly. Can't wait to dive right into the next book. I have a suspicion who the masked alpha is, but I won't spoil it for anyone else.

Love it! Hate that it's so short. Hope Nora will bundle all the books so I can read them all at once.

This book is a complete rip off. It is an almost exact copy, word for word of previously published novella called Taken by Darkness by Nora Ash. Greedy author and greedy amazon. Another scam of dividing up novels into 50 page novellas and calling them novels. Is basically a description of a sex scene with poor story development.
