Lead acid batteries such as these do NOT have memory issues as do lithium or NiCd batteries. You should avoid a complete discharge of lead acid batteries , as each time you run them down completely you shorten their life considerably. Same as car batteries which are also lead acid... Never, if you can avoid it, discharge them completely.

Will these batteries work in an apc ups?

This battery has about the most capacity available in this size and a lot of good specs as to charge and discharge rates. I think that makes it more likely to work in random UPS's than average. But there are tricky problems that could make it not work in some UPS's. And of course its size must fit in the UPS case.
