Still amazing even after a decade.
The henna I have received so far is from the 07/2023. That's nearly nine months old. The fresher the henna the better stain. I used to practice henna tattoos and dyed my hair red. Jamila was always my favorite as it never had the chunks of plants and always dyed a beautiful red. First photo is of my second dye. This dye I used apple cider vinegar and lemon juice ONLY. I wrapped my CERAMIC bowl in a towel and let it sit on top of my warm oven for a couple of hours. I put the henna in and left it in for seven hours. I wrapped in a shower cap, then a garbage back, and wrapped a towel on my head to keep in warm. Twice I used my hair dryer and blew in around my henna soaked hair (still wrapped) to add extra heat. Second, photo is my first dye. Didn't do a whole lot, added some warm oranges. This one I did a long slow release with red wine and lemon juice and black tea. I waited it for it to release for 48 hours and spaced out and went outside in the cold. I think that messed up the dye. Third, photo is months of dying my hair with mostly Jamila henna. The last photo is my natural color. I am dirty blondish color.

Great Jamila
This henna product is so very lovely. I am super impressed with the softness and dye capabilities. It easily applied to my 4c hair, washed out and covered the greys. While I didn't notice much dye staining through the curing process (5 hours), I had zero coverage issues after application and rinsing. I love it and am looking forward to ordering again. Also I must add that as an avid professional henna user, this product was very fresh!

Best henna I've used. Don't pay more plus shipping at Mehandi when you can get this so cheap.
Best henna I've used in 7 years. Vibrant copper red and blends away gray to golden copper highlights. Don't bother paying Mehandi for their more expensive henna plus shipping just 'cause they say it's the best--they actually make disparaging remarks about Jamila on their website. I wish I'd tried this sooner and I'll never go back. The color is superior. How to use: Mix with only lemon juice (from bottle) and let sit overnight. Next morning wear latex gloves and work the dark green henna glop into your WET CONDITIONED HAIR. Cover hair with plastic bags and wait 3 hours. Rinse with warm water until it feels clear, then go ahead and shampoo, it won't take out the color. Your tub/sink will be a mess and need bleach. All henna is laborious to use, rinse out and clean up after but the results are worth it. No chemicals and lasting color that fade very slowly. Make sure you want red hair before you use it as it won't come out.

Fragile bag, great product
My only complaint is that when I gently shook the bag to get the powder to the bottom before opening it, the bag exploded and Jenna went everywhere. I had a huge mess to clean up and no idea how much powder I had left, so I had to guess when mixing the paste. The designs didn't come out as dark as I would have liked (probably too much oil in the mixture) but it's been a week and only the really thin lines show any sign of fading.

Favorite and only type of henna I will use!
I love this brand of henna because they don't use any additives. I know when I use Jamila on my hair that it will give me a long lasting red hair that pops. I get many compliments! 3-4 hour application of the activated henna(after henna ,with liquid of choice, has sat in a warm place for at least 4-6 hours) the color is perfect. A few days later the color changes to a darker color than at first, because of the oxidation process that happens with henna. My scalp and hair are always healthier when I use henna verses a color treatment with all the chemicals. Henna is not something that you want to use if you change your hair color often as the color needs to grow out. This brand of henna works ok for skin as well, just make sure you get a fresh product. The year of harvest matters!

Worst thing that has ever
Worst thing that has ever, ever happened to my hair. It completely destroyed my hair color PERMANENTLY. It will take years to recover. THIS IS BEING DISHONESTLY MARKETED. WHAT I RECEIVED WAS CLEARLY NOT REAL HENNA - AVOID! I recognize the possibility that I received an unusually bad package (based on other positive reviews), but this level of quality control of unacceptable. I've been using henna for several years now. I prepared Jamila Henna like I do with all other body art quality hennas I've purchased - lemon juice and water, and 18 hours of curing time in a dark place. I left this on my hair for 4 hours, which is what I always do. This methodology has worked well with genuine henna powders I have purchased. The result was the most hideous shade of very dark brown. Not even a hint of red. Not even a hint of dark red or burgundy. I tried to have a professional remove it, to no results. I've tried stripping it with overnight oil treatments, to no results. I have successfully deposited some red over the awful brown with better henna, but the fact remains that it is very dark and very saturated with a horrible color. Please don't destroy your hair with this product. The only way to remove the results of this product is trimming off hair as it grows, and that takes an awfully long time.

My first Henna treatment!
This was the first Henna I tried and my experience was it was alright. Though my experience may have been better if when I was mixing it I didn't add too much coconut milk that resulted in it being a little runny making it more like a melted chocolate texture. I also was in such a rush that I applied it one hour after letting it sit(it was also during the week and I had to work in the morning so i only applied for three hours then over nine hours the second time around). I will say it was a nice smooth texture and easy to apply and wash out. I also DC afterwards as one should since henna can be drying. My hair strands are thicker but I didn't notice my hair being more soft. I am glad this is a BAQ henna also. I mixed mines with coconut milk, lime juice and added olive oil after letting it sit. I was going to order again but I decided to try a different brand just to see if I could see a difference. I just did the application last night and have to say I like the other brand better(the one that has the 9 herbs added in it), but that could have been 'cause this time I made sure the consistency was thick like pudding and let it sit for three and a half hours as it says to do. I also left it on overnight and washed out in the morning. I will probably stick with that brand since it has all the extra goodness in it, but if I was to go back to a regular BAQ henna this one would probably be it. I am an African American woman with mostly 4a hair with some 4b, 4c and in the nape a 3c section. I will continue to use henna 'cause after the third application I really see a difference in my hair. I don't really see much color change unless I'm looking in the light, I have no gray hairs yet. I will add though my order took longer to ship reason being I ordered something that I did not know was backordered, I had to contact the seller to ask what was the hold up to be told the order was coming in that night. But it didn't come in as thought so I had to email the seller to see why it still hadn't been shipped and was told it did not come in yet. So I just decided to have the henna shipped. The staff was very friendly, however it would had been nice if I was told the item was backordered instead of me having to contact them to find out, I otherwise wouldn't have ordered that item. Other than that, great company to order from and will continue to do so.

Perfect, consistent color
My Go-To brand of Henna when it comes to coloring my hair. I always get the perfect shade of coppery red that I love. Ive tried other brands and the color is never consistent, but this brand is.
