A Children's Treasury of Songs Board book – October 28, 2006

This book contains a great selection of familiar children' s songs, beautifully illustrated. My 18-month-old grandson was captivated by this book. He asked for me to sing the entire book to him every morning this summer. No matter how well you sing, your child will appreciate sitting in your lap and listening to these popular songs.

This is really a great book. The author/illustrator chose great songs, and the illustrations are perfect. I also bought the nursery rhythms book which is also great. I am picky about books, especially nursery rhythms. These books are great! my 15 month old loves them both, but the song book is her favorite. Every toddler should have a song book and nursery rhythm book in their book collection (can you tell i am a teacher!), and these fit the bill perfectly!

The best. Love the great quality, poems, and illustrations. Really want to find the same series books.

This is a great treasury of classic children's songs with beautiful pictures. My daughter is 13 months old and constantly pulls this book out for my husband or myself to sing to her or to "read" herself. There is a good collection of lyrics (not printed music) to familiar American children's songs and I am thrilled to expose her to the music of my childhood. The illustrations are child-friendly, bright, and whimsical. I really like this book, BUT why is the sheep in Ba Ba Black Sheep white or gray? My daughter doesn't know her colors well yet, so I generally point to objects in books while reading to get to reinforce color concepts. When I sing Ba Ba Black Sheep to her, I am extremely hesitant to point to the non-black sheep. This is a minor qualm, but is important to note in a book meant for very young children.

I sing to our daughter from this book each and every night- all well known songs but many with extra verses (ex Mary Had a Little Lamb with 5 verses); the illustrations are beautiful and, as we found out, embossed so she can feel the faces of each character in the book. Something she will treasure her entire childhood & probably use with her children some day!

My 3 year old grandson loves this book. These are the songs I sang to my kids. It's so fun to share with the next generation. Somehow I remembered all the tunes. This book is words and pictures only, no music.

Classic songs and great colorful pictures of farm animals that are "raised" from the page that kids love to touch. Really cute illustrations.But there is a problem! Why is "She'll be coming 'round the mountain" printed twice? (See attached photo).

Songs are written out perfectly, images are embossed which was a nice touch :)

This is a very nice book - the illustrations are beautiful and the songs are well-known and well-chosen. However, I was quite disappointed that there were no music notes in the book - I was expecting the melody to be included. I am familiar with all of the songs, but get stuck sometimes and would appreciate being able to see the melody. I also think it would be good for my daughter to see the music notes when we sing. But otherwise it's a beautiful book!
