Great but might need modification
This is a great light weight case! I would usually get the contoured protec case but had problems with us tipping. This one tips way less and is super light! Unfortunately it did need a little modification with my vintage conn. The low B and Bb keys are on the left side of the horn instead of the right and a dent had to carved out to accommodate it. But other than that no complaints! Great storage for my music and stands as well!

Great case but didn't fit my vintage Elkhart Tenor (split bell)
I liked this case a lot. So much that it made me want to modify it to fit my 1940s Elkhart split bell tenor. However, I instead opted to send it back for an XL protec tenor sax case that should fit my sax. It was a nice rectangular shape, so I assume it's less obvious what's inside when you carry it while walking through the city like I do. It also has nice backpack straps that I wish I could've tried out longer. The straps get hidden away so you don't see them normally. The external pouch is nice and large, and I think my work macbook may have fit, had i tried to fit it. Will hold a lot of accessories nicely. I just wish this section was split into subsections or something so I could segregate things and not have them flop about so much. Inside the case is a small flap you can open where you can store reeds, cloths, cork grease, etc. There's a separate spot to put your crook (neck) and mouthpiece inside the case and keep them nice and secure. The only thing I didn't like about the case, and thought I would, was the "quick close flap" thing. On the front, right under the handle, is a small velcro flap that comes down across the front of the long side when you close the case. This is to help securely close it without having to zip it, nice if you're playing but want to move the case around without zipping and unzipping all the way. When I was trying this case out I found it to be a little more annoying when I needed to open the case, as the flap would always flop down and velcro itself in place. A little place to tuck it in and restrain it from flopping down would be nice, even if just a piece of fabric or canvas as a strap, or a little pocket to tuck it into, so when I grab things out of my case a lot I don't try to open the top and end up flipping the case over.Had I kept the case, I'd probably fashion a way to keep the flap open for these circumstances.

Good Light Duty Case
The Protek Max Tenor Sax case is a good light duty case. My Selmer fits well with no movement. The small accessory compartment holds reeds and a few other items. Its 6"L x 3 1/2"W x 2 1/4"D. Shaped cavities for neck and mouthpiece also hold those well. There is a large, zippered, outer compartment (27 x 8 1/2) which could be used for numerous items. A flute would fit but not a clarinet, as its not deep. I just use it for a neck strap. It has backpack type should straps which I have not tried and don't need. They do not detach, but if you cut them off you would have another zippered sleeve on the bottom.I would not use it for travel where someone else is handling my horn, but for personal use its a good case. The lid remains in an upright position when open, and causes the case to tip over when you remove the horn, which is an inconvenience. You need to remove the body of the horn last, and insert it first.

Case is light and works well
Case fits Yamaha tenor sax pretty well. Case has some semi-hard sides that should give some good protection when other instruments get placed ontop of in trucks or under in cargo area under bus. The straps give multiple ways to carry. Good storage for extra stuff expecially with external pocket. Happy with product from intial trials.

Durable and strong backpack-like case, but a little flimsy for opening and staying open.
I've had this case for about two years and I've taken it with me through the streets of Los Angeles for certain busking escapades. The straps are strong and durable, especially important when I'm carrying overweight in the bag.One problem I have with the case is that if there is too much weight in the saddle bags the case will tip backwards whenever I take the heavy saxophone out. The case acts as if it has no spine, which I especially need whenever I go busking and require a steadfast "tipping jar". I have solved this predicament by placing the case open with its back against a wall to allow people to throw money in there. I do get constantly annoyed when I need to set-up and tear-down after sessions. Other than that, this case has been a godsend to my hands which used to blister after having a handle-only case to walk around with.

Good value case for local transport
Good protective case for local transport. Light weight. Good exterior storage pocket. Inexpensive option for medium duty use. Not for use when other people handling your instrument like checked baggage. I wish the interior velvet was more plush or had a thin pad under it. Its a thin material directly over the hard foam so case inside has no soft cushion against the instrument

Nice but broke
My son used this case for his concert tenor (so not hard use) and the hinge broke before 10 months of use. :-(

The case is a typical Protec product that is sturdy, light and durable
The case is a typical Protec product that is sturdy, light and durable. However, neither of the two I bought really fit the two tenors in our family. The "cages" around some of the mechanical parts of the sax kept the horn from laying flat. So I cut the velvet lining, peeled it back and started cutting the styrofoam until it fit. Because it was a good deal at under 100 dollars, I decided that it would be worth modifying them rather than sending them back. Saxophones vary a lot in design and there's no way to know (outside a dedicated brand name case) what will fit your horn.
