Amazon specs say the sony z tablet weights 2.2 lbs. Sony online says a little over a pound. Lots of difference there.

It's only 1.09lbs (tablet itself), the package might be 2.2 lbs.

Can you use with Netflix or Amazon Prime streaming movies?

Yes you can. However, the Amazon Prime won't play natively to it. You can Google it and find solutions. It required downloading both Adobe and Dolphin Browser and changing a few settings on the tablet but now I can watch Dance Moms on my Z :)

This tablet is running android 4.1. Will this device get the new android updates?

android 4.2.2 came out for this tablet, so you can update it. I am using 4.2.2 now.

If the tablet was destroyed because of water and the ports were closed, would sony replace it?

I'm. Pretty Sure. They will! but why would it get damaged if all the ports are sealed in the first place although thats an interesting question for Sony!
