Mothball Smell Eliminator Journey
I have been on a journey trying to eliminate the awful mothball smell in furniture. Recently, I bought a used loveseat that was in good condition, like new, but it has a strong mothball scent to it. I didn't realize it until I got it home. From morning to evening, I would crack open a window to let fresh air in where the loveseat is located. I do this despite it is winter and 20 degrees out. Anyway, I first bought the Bad Odor Air Sponge to help eliminate the mothball odor. I didn't see any difference in the smell. So, I bought two Smellezes bags. Since the Smellezes, I have smelled a slight difference. The strong mothball odor has reduced, but not completely gone. I do move the Smelleze bags around on the loveseat, and I have reactivated the Smellezes, zapping them in the microwave once a week. Also, I have placed open boxes of baking soda around the loveseat. The mothball smell still lingers. When walking into the room, the mothball odor smacks you in the face. Ugh! Given the mothball smell still lingered despite the Bad Odor Air Sponge and the Smelleze, I bought these Activated Bamboo Charcoal Bags along with the Clean+Green Natural Fabric Refresher Spray, Deodorizer, Stain, and Odor Remover. I was determined to get this hideous smell off the furniture. Between the two products, there was quite a big difference in odor elimination of the mothball smell. The smell has gone down to hardly anything. It is not completely gone. A faint smell of mothball still lingers when I sit on the loveseat. It appears to be coming out from where the two seating cushions touch, the two side edges. I have sprayed them again with the Clean+Green... and placed two of thee charcoal bags between them. I have faith that what is left will be eliminated soon. These two products have really made a big difference in eliminating what seemed an impossible task. Pro: 1) Activated Bamboo Charcoal Bags come in these nice and cute material bags that hold the product inside. There are many and plenty of them in the buy (15). 2) I am able to place the small bags all over the loveseat without a mess of staining the furniture: On the cushions, under the cushions, behind the back of the cushions, and so on. 3) The Activated Bamboo Charcoal Bags are cute, they don't look like they are out of place. I have had guests who have complimented on the cuteness of the bags. 4) The activated charcoal lasts for two months before reactivation. Con: According to the instructions, the Activated Bamboo Charcoal is reactivated in direct sunlight. I have asked with no response if charcoal can be reactivated in the microwave. Those who live in northern states in the winter, like me, will not get a lot of sunlight. Thus, the Activated Bamboo Charcoal Bags will no longer be good, unless holding on to them until the summer. I personally will hold on to the bags until the summer for direct sunlight exposure. Do they work? Yes, the Activated Bamboo Charcoal Bags do work. I recommend using them along with Clean+Green Natural Fabric Refresher Spray, Deodorizer, Stain, and Odor Remover. The wretched mothball odor has diminished by 95%. I give this product and the Clean+Green... two thumbs-up, and I highly recommend them both. When I walk into the room where the loveseat is located, there is no odor, as it used to smack you in the face. I highly recommend these little charcoal bags for any bad odor. Try them along with the Clean+Green Natural Fabric Refresher Spray, Deodorizer, Stain, and Odor Remover. They are the two best products that have worked for me on my journey in the elimination of the mothball odor.

Didn’t notice any big changes
These charcoal bags are well-made with a focus on quality and care. However, after using them for several months, I’m unsure of the benefits they provide or if they make a difference at all.

Not sure if they’re doing anything
These charcoal bags are good. Made with attention and care focused on quality. However, after several months of using them, I’m just not sure what benefits they are providing or if they are at all. We didn’t buy them for existing problem areas that needed some freshening up. I bought them predominantly to prevent any odor buildup — for such places as clothing and accessory drawers and cabinets. And to use where linens and blankets, pillows and quilts are stored. Although those areas are all maintained without odor buildup over many years already - I just thought these could just help freshen things up a bit. And maybe also thinking they’d help with any humidity or minor type changes in temp. I think the “bags” or sachets that help with removing any extra humidity are something completely separate. And these have no scent at all. So, what’s the harm. We’ve got them. They certainly aren’t causing any trouble and they are likely helping already or will help more as time goes on to keep the air around our closets, cabinets, etc. nice and fresh.

Exceptional musty smell remover
I have tried numerous tricks to remove a musty smell from an antique armoire. Finally, I discovered these and they worked wonders. I hung three in the armoire and within a week the smell is gone. I have placed one or two in all of my closets now. The gray bags look nice and the hanging string made them easy to install.

Smell What???
So, we bought a beautiful 100-year-old farm last year, and have been in reno mode ever since then on the farmhouse. One of our biggest annoyances has been eradicating the musty house smell that comes from a previous lack of proper care, age, and a prior lack of ventilation/air conditioning. We've been in a fever pitch of cleaning, repainting, and ripping up ancient carpeting; though all of these interventions helped a lot, it still didn't get rid of all of the odors that had essentially taken hold like the invasion of the body snatchers. This issue recently escalated as something (I suspect a mouse crept into one of the various crevices that old homes have, coupled with the fact that we are deep into nature!!) seems to have died inside the plaster wall, and no amount of cleaning, essential oils, or candle burning, could get rid of that odor; I feared we were in for a long wait at the decomp process concluded; any fan of CSI, Bones or other crime shows, knows this can take a while :(. I desperately kept researching possible solutions and read about this bamboo activated charcoal sachets...SCORE!! Last night at 5:30 PM I placed them around the entire house in all of the trouble spots...again, the whole house, and when I awoke this morning at 4:30 AM (Farm life!!) it smelled to me like a fresh wind had blown through the house. The dank, musty smell, actually seems like it's been scrubbed from the air! Those nifty activated charcoal ions are just working invisibly while I enjoy the fresh air. My hubby, who has an especially acute sense of smell, remarked on the improvement right away. I'm delighted that something natural appears to have been the solution to our olfactory woes. Now the beauty of this place can extend to our indoor air quality too. Bonus.

Works on the diaper pail
I bought these because both my kitchen trash and the diaper trash were causing odor problems throughout the house. If you weren't smelling old poop then you were smelling old kitchen trash. Front of the house vs back of the house, there was no escaping the smell. I tried several different things from baking soda, cleaning the trash cans weekly, leaving the trash cans outside after trash day in the sun, bleach, and even litter odor removal. It all worked for maybe a day with the diaper, and a few days with the kitchen trash. I knew activated charcoal was supposed to be decent for odor elimination but I had no idea how good these little bags would work. The second I got them I ripped open the package and stuck two between the bag and can for each of the trash cans in question. I had no idea what to expect, if they'd work, or if it was all hype. Let me tell you something. These bad boys worked within an hour or so. I thought I was used to the smell so I left the house for a while, went for a nice walk, a nice drive, and I came home to... Nothing. For the first time in months, I didn't walk into my house and think something died in the kitchen or the back of the house. Even on the worse of stinky diaper days, these little bags hold up to the stink. I can finally move the diaper trash can back into the nursery so I don't have to walk into the laundry room after every diaper. I read that you can take the inner bag out and leave it in the sun to reactivate it, but I haven't tried that yet. These bags are a lifesaver. I even hung one up near the litter box and it takes care of that smell as well! No longer will someone walk into my house and immediately wonder what died inside. Now it smells like what I want it to smell like. Bad odors beware! You have met your match!

Alternative to chemical air fresheners
I have stashed these all throughout the house and can say that they do make a difference in most rooms, even in my car-i'm a smoker. I do not smoke in my house however there are two cats. I hung a couple up by the litter box and this is the only place where I did not notice an improvement. In every other room though those lingering smells that you're not sure what they are where they came from have been eliminated with these . I even hung one in the kitchen for that residual food smell after cooking and there's no more lingering food smells in the kitchen. I read the instructions and charged them all in the sunlight before hanging them up. Only one package had the smallest hole in it where some of the charcoal fell out. I threw a couple stitches in it and is good as new.

Great product to clear the air
I like the rash of use of this product. We will place one bag in each room in our home.

Depende
