If you have lots of AR stuff this is a great deal
I am returning this case because it is far larger than my needs, which I feel badly about. My disappointment is doubled because it is a very well made case and inexpensive. I should have looked at the dimensions more carefully. On the other hand it is a 5 Star case for someone else with greater space needs than my own. It has two locking holes at the handle which is a lot better than 4 locking holes on the handle side like other cases I have. It has 4 easy to use snap fasteners. If traveling on an aircraft and you need room for an AR with scope, ammo, and other stuff this might be the case for you. This also makes for a great safe storage case out of the reach of children. Amazon used to carry cases that were more like >40-38" x 8" x 4", but I can't find them. Smaller cases are better for me because I put them into a large duffle bag. It is only common sense to not advertise the carrying of a fire arm and have it snatched at the airport. A smaller case also makes sense if carrying the shorter carbines or take down rifles. TSA sometimes gets annoyed at the duffle bag when they inspect it, but if people cannot see it ....they don't get strange thoughts. It also avoids some baggage handler getting ideas as well.

Most economical hard case for ARs
I recently purchased an AR and needed a case for it to go to the range and back. I like the idea of a hard case and having "compartments" to hold magazines, optics, maybe ammo, and what not. I wasn't concerned so much about strapping the gun in to the case since I would be the one handling it, or maybe I just trust the foam isolates any movement more than I should. Nevertheless, I installed the velcro straps for the gun, and put the remaining two straps in one of the compartments to hold my 2x red dot. I cannot complain for the price as this is much cheaper than most other options out there, but here are the cons I came up with. 1) only 4 straps are included. So you essentially get 2 for the firearm, and 1 for two compartments, or like I did 2 for one compartment. Not a huge deal and will great for what I need, but having the option to use more straps in other compartments would have been nice. 2) I was lucky enough to keep track of the screws when installing the compartment dividers and straps. You only get just what you need to install them, so don't lose one of those little screws. 3) I read a review before purchasing about only have 1 set of places to screw the straps for the firearm. Like I mentioned above, I didn't care a lot about this so it didn't stop me from purchasing. I will end up using the straps in that default location because it works for my AR - though it might not work for everyone. Having multiple locations would be ideal to make this a true universal case 4) The plastic case will crack if you drop a cinder block falling from a foot above it and don't have any foam inside. Have I proved this? Of course not. The short here is that the plastic casing isn't made like a pelican box. However for my needs and with only me or someone I know handling it, and with the dense foam inside, I am not worried about it. I also didn't spend pelican money on this, so you should expect it won't be the same material. After all of these cons, the pros still easily outweigh them for my use. Is it right for you? What are your expectations? Again, for my purpose this is exactly what I was looking for and I expect it to last the life of the firearm. I will tell you that you won't find one like it in this price range. So if this is your budget, and you aren't expecting to put it thru baggage at an airport, just buy it already.

Fits an AR15 nicely. Not the sturdiest case but it works fine. Looks good
I bought a cheap $20 case from the local sporting goods store for my AR15. It seemed to work until I put optics on it. This case is wide enough to fit an AR15 with a 16" barrel that has relatively large optics on top. That is without collapsing the stock. If you collapse the stock you could easily fit an AR with an 18" barrel or maybe even a 20" barrel. (I don't have one to test this with) This case is also a little higher quality than the $20 case I bought originally. The case comes with plastic pieces you can use to section off the inside of the case for magazines or something. I chose not to do this. I stick mags wherever I feel like putting them and that works fine for me. There are no cutouts in the foam. It holds the rifle in place because it presses the 2 sides together. (which keeps the rifle in place quite well) The plastic is thick enough for the case to be useful but you have to line it up when you close it. The plastic flexes and the latches may not line up unless you are careful. It is not a big deal but every time you close it you are reminded that you didn't buy that $200 fancy waterproof case with wheels. For the price I paid, I am very happy. It is much nicer than my original rifle case and it is the perfect shape and size for an AR. (In fact, based on the name 6500AR I think it was designed to be an AR case) It is not hard to close the case, you just have to force the latches to line up. You can put 4 locks on this case if you like and there are 4 plastic latches on the front. This will last me a while and if I need another I will probably upgrade to the super fancy waterproof case with cutout foam and wheels. That will cost 5-6 times what this case set me back though. For the price, it does a nice job.

Fantastic, Inexpensive Case... Great Buy1
Flambeau Outdoors 6500AR AR Tactical Gun Case with ZERUST - 40 x 12 x 4 in. Hard Gun Case with Zerust Magazine Pockets and Straps for Ammunition, Firearm Storage Accessory ________________________________________________________________________ Great Case !! Came across this case while was looking for one, and I purchased this case on sale for around $42 fir a new device, Works perfectly. Just what I needed.... Its sturdy and not really that heavy of a case. There are six points that you can lock this case, I lock it from several of these points to secure it closed. Probably don't need to lock all six though. Partly customizable with its inside, add on compartments, Definitely has some good features.... In The End ... This a great starter case, price, product.. I'm glad I bought it! Recommended!! Enjoy, Have Fun, Be Safe......

Much better than expected
I bought this as a low cost case for my son's trap gun. My thought was I could fit the gun in the case broke down and also a couple boxes of shells and maybe a few other items he would need at practice or a meet. It all fit plus some extra room for expansion. Case showed up in great shape no damage from shipping, checked the four latches all good to go. Comes with egg crate style foam, four divider brackets, four Velcro straps, (thought it only came with two, nice surprise) and enough screws for the brackets and straps. the brackets and straps can be configured in a number of ways. The foam is slits in multiples places for the straps to go thru and the four corners of the foam is perforated for easy removal if needed. Case was hard to close when gun was fist put in. I outlined the receiver, four grip, and barrel with a sharpie and then removed foam in these areas to give it more of a fitted area to sit in. this greatly improved both the way the gun sits in the case and the way it closes. My only real concern with this case is how it holds up over time, and how well the latches hold up in the winter. living in the Midwest and Trap being a spring sport team practices start in January. It gets pretty darn cold on a trap range in the winter.

Absolutely awesome case for my Daniel Defense AR with scope but directions lack. So I wrote my own.
The best case I've owned. I did done a ton of research and decided to go with this one due to the ratings it received. I was not disappointed. It has a built in anti-corrosion system which I didn't know. Pros: Fits my Daniel Defense V5 with scope and bi-pod attached no problem with room to spare. 4 corner compartments that can hold a 30 round clip, bi-pod, scope, etc when detached. Very sturdy construction with optional straps that can be anchored to the case. Cons: For such an awesome case the directions leaflet suck. Brevity is the sole of wit but the directions lack in any real functional explanation and makes it seems like a chore to set it up; which it's not. Can pinch fingers when snapping the latches while holding the carrier handle. Not really a con due to the latches and seal being hard and tight. So more like a warning. Only 4 straps provided. I feel 6 would be optimal. Here's an explanation on how to set it up and it's features: It comes with 4 dividers. They are plastic but these are made with the anti-corrosion material. Just having them in the case prevents corrosion, they just conveniently made them dividers as well. @ 36 seconds you can see how that material prevents corrosion: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vJscjAuaKLc There are 2 sections of egg shell foam, one for the top lid and one for the bottom. (The lid to me is the half of the case that comes down, when the latches are facing me, and latches go down to snap. Just my preference) Flip each egg foam over and gently stretch them at the corners and you will see every corner has a line of lacerations that you can run a knife through to separate a corner. DO NOT CUT YET. Take both egg foams out and position your gun in the case and now close your case thinking about those 4 corners. My setup, with my case closed, the top left and top right provided enough room where my gun fit perfectly. As per the brief instructions they provided a corner section divider (on the lid) should match the corner section of the (bottom lid) when closed. Simple put, when the case is closed the plastic dividers from one side of the case should kiss the dividers to the other side. Ok you figured out what corners best fit your gun. Now time to cut. I started with the lid foam, top left right setup. I removed the foam, flipped it over and spread out the corner the lacerations with my fingers. I took a sharp knife and drew it between between my fingers while spreading the lacerations to cut the corners out. (Remember only TWO corners need to be cut out on each piece of foam.) Bottom lid foam I repeated the same to match the top. (I re-inserted the foams a couple times to make sure I was cutting the right corners to "kiss" the corresponding corners of the bottom lid.) Now you can refer to the inserted directions how to anchor the plastic sections and install the straps. One thing I noticed is the straps that go through those sections you just cut out, when screwed down, have slack and push the foam up. I simply cut them in two and removed the excess that was pushing the foam up. Hope this helps. Awesome case for the money and I would like to have all my guns in one of these.

Definitely recommend!
This is an excellent value for the price! My one and only (minor) issue is the latches sometimes don't line up immediately, and it takes just a little adjustment to line up; again, very minor. Other than that I couldn't be happier. Very solid, and will hold up nice to any abuse. The foam inserts hold everything nice and snug, and the foam was easy to work with to fit in the compartmentalized sections. The strap system works great, as well as the ability to customize where everything fits in. I purchased the 6500 and am able to fit an AR, sidearm, ammo and magazines for both, as well as some small boxes containing tools/extra parts. I also want to add that I contacted this company directly with a question and an interest in extra parts for customization and they have top notch customer service. Quick to respond, polite, friendly, accommodating, and would recommend doing business with them based on that fact alone.

Good, cheap case
This is the first firearm case I've ever owned, and I bought it a few months ago for 30 dollars. I feel satisfied at that price, but sometimes to and from the range the contents of the case shift. For 60 dollars, I would expect some more security during transportation. Easily holds a full-size pistol, an AR and relevant optics and magazines, however. Used with a range bag I can take more than what I need to and from the range. It was perfect for what I purchased it for, though, which was a means of transporting my firearms around while I figure out what I want from a higher-quality case I could spend some money on. Note: The three-star rating is because the price has doubled. For 30 dollars, it's a 5-star case and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Were I to hazard a guess, the price has either reacted to demand or they put the price very low at first to attract higher-star reviews before gradually turning up the heat.

The best bang for the buck rifle case!
Fantastic product quality and overall value, considering the price paid. This was meant to house a rifle-length AR-15 with an RDS, and this is the perfect size. Although I have not separated or compartmentalized the foam inside, it is nice to know that I can do so, especially in the event that I change to a different rifle system; perhaps something with a carbine-length gas system. I highly recommend this case for storage and transport purposes, and to ensure compliance with Canada’s rules and regulations for restricted firearms.

Just the job!
The case seems well built with hinges that appear to be capable of years of openings. Although I probably won't be using them the dividers are a great idea and make the most of available space. The sponge inserts are thick and I'm happy with the level of protection they afford my rifle. I'm not using the supplied velcro straps as the gun is being held in the case quite securely. The case is held shut by four plastic latches which seem sturdy enough to me. Although these are not lockable the case can be secured by passing two padlocks through the parts of the case (the eyes if you like) you can see under the carrying handle. The gun (a 110 carbine) is fitted with a 'big wheel" on the sight focusing ring and that together with the bipod meant a search for a case big enough and deep enough to accommodate the outfit. This case does the job but because of the width of the rifle there is a small gap between the two halves just under the carrying handles when case is closed. It's possible that this will close in time as the sponge linings settle but I don't really think of this as a problem and it's certainly not unsightly. Alltogether, and considering the price, I'm pleased with this case. I expect to need another in the near future and will have no hesitation in buying the same. Very comfortable in recommending this Flambeau rifle case.

Good quality
Bought this for my GSG-15 and it fits like it was made for it. I have the magazines in the case and a red dot on the gun and still have room for more things, the straps can be moved to different spots inside and are great for holding the gun in place.
