A steady read
You have to listen to the words rather than read the book. It has a religious tone to it but the sentiment beneath it a truely inspirational. Most excellent book

Interesting book
This is not the sort of book I normally read(honest) but it was recommended to read by a cricketer in his autobiography. You certainly come away with the feeling of positivity.

Inspiring and practical
As other reviewers have stated the book does reference god and the bible frequently, however, I still feel even for non-religious people, like myself, that there is a lot to be gained from this book so it is worth persevering. After reading only a couple of chapters I felt more positive and happy than I have felt for years. It really made me aware of how negative my thought patterns have become and how damaging this can be.The book provides practical tips and exercises to do throughout the day to maintain your positive thinking and to not let yourself get stressed out. As well as, many stories of how people in real life have used the methods in the book to become more positive and so change their lives for the better.Regarding the religious references, I either ignored them or, if I liked the underlying sentiment, altered them to read ‘the universe/ universal/higher power’ etc. Instead of Jesus/God. Which worked for me.

Helped me to re-discover my faith
I bought this book for three reasons. The first reason is because it featured in '50 self-help classics' by Tom Butler-Bowdon and having read many self-help books which all emphasise the importance of positive thinking, I was interested in reading one of the most famous and best-selling books on the topic. The second reason is because I watched a documentary on the billionaire Donald Trump and discovered that Norman Vincent Peale was actually his preacher in New York! The final reason which persuaded me to finally buy the book is when I watched another documentary, a BBC one, called 'the American Dream.' A priest gave an interview for the documentary explaining how the principles in the book had inspired him to achieve an olympic medal, I think it was for pole vaulting, but I cannot remember for sure!In terms of the positive thinking aspects of the book, I did not really learn anything that was of any significant difference from what I had already learnt from other self-help books. The one way in which the book did help me however was by helping me to re-discover my faith. The author of the book was a preacher and he often cites bible passages which he recommends that people memorise, passages such as: 'I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me' and 'according to your faith be it unto you.' I am usually very sceptical and reluctant to try out exercises such as these which are proposed in self-help books (which I suppose defeats the purpose of reading them!) but I gave it a shot and it has really helped me.I use to go to church regularly but limited my worship to the church service. It wasn't until I read this book that I realised faith could be applied on a daily basis and to anything. I now use some of those recommended verses to empower my thinking and it has helped me not only in my studies but in my physical exercise too. I have definitely noticed an increase in performance and I feel less stressed. The book actually inspired me to buy a copy of the bible again after I gave my last one away. I had never really thought of the bible as a self-help book before but that's exactly what it is and there are some really great lessons and verses in there which can benefit anyone, regardless of their beliefs. If you don't believe in God then this book probably isn't for you due to the heavy religious content but some people prefer to think of it as a 'power of the universe' or 'flow'. Either way positive thinking is a sound concept. Gandhi said 'if you can change your thoughts, you can change the world.' I use to be very negative and pessimistic but I have managed to re-condition my mind to thinking more optimistically through reading books like this and it has definitely changed my life for the better.

Just another repeat of the last self help book
Nothing I've not read before really. All these types of books are , in my opinion, just a rehash of every self help book that's been published before.Nothing you will read is life changing, nothing.YOU, can change your life, no one else. These type of books promise a lot but deliver nothing. It's easy to be "spiritual" when you're sitting on a boatload of money , or not losing the rag with people when you live in a monastery.I can't see a monk asking another monk " who are you f*@*in looking at" but visit any town and you'll hear this repeatedly. As for being " non- judgmental" , doesn't exist.Every one of us is judgemental to some degree. These authors would have you believe that, if someone stole their car, they'd insure it for the thief.Anyway it's your cash, buy it , don't buy it, makes no difference to me

Unbeatable Factors of Success
I wish I had been wiser and read this amazing book many decades ago.Nevertheless, I am grateful that I did not miss it altogether. The truth established in this volume will produce similar and unbelievable results like those given in the book, when applied as instructed.I will highly recommend it to all who aspire to make the best possible of life's opportunities.

This is the medicine for maintaining sound mental health which needs to be taken for life long
Every human being suffers from challenges from day to day life since s/he is born. Some have got inborn potential to handle challenges without taking stress but majority do not have that kind of gift. This book serves as helping hand to those who need professional help to manage their life.Even though NVP gives lots of examples from Bible throughout the book, any other religion practicing person can follow this book as well. I follow Hinduism and do find similar examples in Bhagvad Gita as well.I really wonder if god himself has shared his knowledge through NVP.I highly recommend this book as must to be taken daily vitamin to maintain once mental health, as it will not only help him/her but people associated as well. This is the best book I read till date

Title is misleading
The books constantly refers to Bible. There are some good recommendations in the book but at the end of every sentences writer links it with god or bible.
