Good for small rooms during heatwaves
Purchased this Daewoo 5000 BTU Portable 3-in-1 Air Conditioning Unit to cool a flat that becomes unbearably hot during the few weeks of proper summer weather we get in the UK, and for that purpose it does a decent job. Because it’s portable, it’s easy enough to move between rooms when needed, although you do obviously need a nearby window to vent the exhaust hose out of. The wheels make moving it manageable, but the unit itself is still fairly heavy. As this is only a 5000 BTU portable unit, the cooling power is limited, especially in larger open-plan spaces. In my case, I used it in an 18m² room and it was able to reduce the temperature by around 5–6 degrees, which made the room much more comfortable and was perfectly adequate for my needs. Like pretty much every portable air conditioner, it is loud when running because the condenser is inside the room rather than outside. If you are expecting silent operation, this type of unit probably isn’t for you, but the noise level is normal for a portable AC and not noticeably worse than others I’ve used. To get the best performance you definitely need to keep windows and doors closed as much as possible, otherwise the cool air escapes quickly and the unit has to work much harder. The included remote control is useful and gives access to all the same functions as the controls on the unit itself, which is handy when using it in a bedroom or while watching TV. The dehumidifier function works, but I would not buy this primarily for that purpose. The water drain is located at the bottom of the unit, so emptying it regularly can be awkward because you may need to lift or raise the unit to fit a container underneath, and the unit is quite heavy. If you specifically need a dehumidifier, a dedicated unit would probably be more practical and efficient. Overall, this is a good option for cooling small to medium rooms during hot UK weather. It won’t replace a fixed air conditioning system, but for occasional summer use it does exactly what I expected.

First day review.
Received Aircon quicker than they said. I did read the reviews for this Aircon and thought I'd go for this as a trusted brand. Reviews on here have said it's noisy and that's true! You can only watch TV or listen to music if you turn up the volume by approx a third I'd say. Very easy to operate and very effective at cooling, after 5 mins on in our lounge which is 18' x 14' approx there was a noticeable change. I purchased one of those material window curtains that doesn't really look that good as it looks a mess.. but will be making my own from perspex soon with magnetic strips. They have made a mistake and sent me the model without WiFi, but I'm not too bothered! Will try and get the £10 back they owe me! I would recommend this AC for short bursts to keep temperature down. Think you could sleep through noise because the temperature would be far more acceptable.

Great little Unit
This is perfect to cool down with! Works fast! I purchased as I am a lash tech and my room was getting to hot and within 15 mins the room is at great temperature. Not as noisy as I thought it would be after reading the reviews. Very easy to move around with its wheels. So it’s great to move room to room. My only complaint is that the exhaust tube is very hard and was to short for my Victorian windows so I did have to purchase a different one. Overall very happy with it and making the heat wave bearable! Why did you choose this product over others?: Good portable AC unit Value for money: Yes absolutely

UK heat not a problem this summer
BEWARE you need to know that although I gave this 5 stars it is no substitute for a permanent AC product. It has its it's drawbacks as a portable unit. Pros it works! It kept my bedroom under 23 degrees Celsius all summer. MODS The exhaust hose is too short as my outward opening windows are at the top of the window (very common in UK houses) it was about 30cm too short... Resulting in me having to put on a chair and tie it to the chair (AC shudders when the compressor starts/stops. A bit of a pain to faff but the benefits are better. The remote although convenient is almost useless with only the On Off being used. The problem is that the display is on the top, meaning you have to be looking down at the unit (even when not on a chair) this means that you have no idea what setting the AC in on (or if it is just the fan or dehumidifier setting) which is more annoying than you might think so only the On/off is used. Naff display aside and short hose... It is good. CONS you MUST know how single hose portable AC works and it is NOT EFFICIENT and this powerful AC had the power to suck the door open! If I didn't pull the door hard (if is a self closing door) it would stop the door closing resulting it lost cooling... The sound of the air being pulled through the gap under the door was a spooky sound that I had to use a draft excluder. Sleep quality is NOT for light to normal sleepers. I am a heavy sleeper and I could only just cope with it. On the whole I LOVE this AC unit and can't believe I waited so long and sweated with fans for so many years, but this is only a step till I get FULL PROPER AC.

Worked for a couple of weeks, but now struggles to keep room cool (below 26.0°C)
Well for the price of this AC Unit you should be getting a lot better product, sadly it seems that you are just paying for the name. The unit worked great when we it was very hot the other week right up to today, yet when its just like 29°C outside its failing to cool lower that 26.0°C when the unit is set to (25.0°C) there is no way that you can even sleep with this in your room, Compressor is so loud and the unit as a whole vibrates so loud too. Its that loud you cannot do calls, use computer, watch tv due to its too loud and over powers them. I did have a very bad feeling when I saw the small sized box when it arrived, but I thought, its Daewoo a known brand and never really had issues with that brand. Boy was I wrong. Daewoo if you are reading this review, you should be using a Digital Inverter Compressor, they are a lot less noisy, they have a lot less wear and tear on the compressor, due to they can be run at a lower speed when at the required temps and then speed up when cooler air is needed. Install dampeners on the Compressor mountings. Use a filter that is not 3D Printed (side filter looks so cheap) due to the one in the unit is a pile of rubbish. Issues with this product. • Compressor too noisy when running. • No rubber suppression on the Compressor fixings, so when its running it is very loud. • Side filter (looks 3D Printed and CHEAP) vibrates on the side of the unit very loud. • Dehumidifier feature does absolutely nothing to the humidity, had it on for like 5 hours and it changed nothing, in fact it went up. • Fails to now reduce temps below 26°C (unit set to 25.0°C) in the rated size room either on Low or High Fan Speeds, had it on all day (12 hours) and still fails to get to 25°C • When it did work it took like 8 hours to reduce the temps in the room from 27.6°C to 25.0°C, sadly it's now not even doing that. Maybe its just too hot for it to cool down the room, if it starts to work in the future I will update this review. My advice is only buy this product if your room is half the size it says its ideal for due to this unit cannot cool a 12M x 12M room, so if your room is lager or near the max supported size then get either a different product or next larger version. *** Update 1 *** I just upgraded to the 9,000 version of this product and its the exact same issue, struggles to cool an average bedroom lower than 25°C when unit set to 22°C. *** Update 2 *** Updated review due to cannot cool my room even though freezing cold air does come out of the unit, like tonight 19th - 20th July 2024 my room is stuck at 27.1°C and the AC Unit was set to 20°C this brand of AC Units are rubbish, go look elsewhere.

Efficient but noisy
This is a very efficient air conditioner, quickly cooling our bedroom through the exhaust which I ran out of the window using a window kit to stop hot air coming back into the room. It has not stopped due to the condensate water level but I have drained it every 2-3 days. Very little actually needed draining but having read a previous review I thought I'd check it regularly. I'd say that this unit did not have a problem running for 3 days without attention. Unfortunately the unit is loud regardless of the slow or fast fan speed. There is no quiet mode and the sleep mode is a timer to turn off, not any kind of noise-reduced setting. As the compressor turns on and off with the thermostat controlling the temperature it is very noticeable and woke me up a couple of times. That said I still slept better than the previous night without the unit on when our bedroom had reached 27degC. I'd suggest a good compromise is to run the unit for 3-4 hours before bedtime, keeping the room sealed, but set the temperature a couple of degrees below what you prefer. Then turn off the unit just before going to sleep and the bed room should stay cool enough overnight. It worked for us last night and seemed to be the best overall solution. The remote control works well and has all the same functions as the front panel. In summary I am happy with the efficacy and value for money but would consider a quieter unit if I needed to buy a second one.

Simply amazing
16th June 2025 I just received my item and I couldn't wait to get it working because its a hot day and in my house, upstairs is so hot it gets unbearable. I'm smiling ear to ear this is probably the best item I've bought in a while. I was thinking would the 5000btu be good enough for my room as it's slightly larger than what is recommended...... its actually turned my entire landing, bathroom and bedroom like a fridge!! I see some reviews about it being noisy apparently for some..... I personally think it's not concerning at all. A little bit of humming noise is to be expected I guess. For the comfort I'm feeling I wouldn't mind it being even louder to be honest. It actually gets icy cold pretty much immediately and cools the room in about 15 minutes. looks nice and compact and it's solid. It's a simple setup and the remote does what it's supposed to do. It's affordable and quite a powerful machine. Just amazing. It is way better then I expected and it's not bad on the electricity either. Amazing purchase and I definitely would recommend. Perfect!

Good air con, simple but small
This 5000 btu unit does the job but don't expect it to cover more than one medium size room, still a good investment to keep my work space cool in this sporadic british summer weather. Rather low cost to keep running also, worked out to be around £2 for a whole day of cooling with a few moments where I just ran it in fan mode between cool downs. For the current asking price of sub £200 it's a nice low end option but if you need one to cool a wide area or more than a bedroom size space buy a more powerful air con unit closer to 9000 btu and above.

Fan is super loud
I don't think one can sleep with such a loud fan noise. Also Not window fittings included.
