I managed to pull the cables off the PCB and had to re-solder them back on. Care needed not to put to much force on cable connection. The red dot laser works fine on 5v supply.

Arrived in time frame in good order. The good: very small and easy to install on my Chinese K40 laser engraver. The bad: the dot is in fact a rectangular projection with about 2-3mm in length (mounted 55mm away from target), also quite pricey to compare with competitors which offer a focus adjustment lens.
