Behringer Super Fuzz Sf300 3-Mode Fuzz Distortion Effects Pedal

This is a great pedal for the price. To understand what you're getting- This is an exact copy of a Boss FZ-2, which is a pretty close copy of a Univox superfuzz. The Boss FZ-2 goes for hundreds now. That's the legacy you're getting It's got three modes, fuzz 1, fuzz 2, and a boost. I don't use the boost much. You can adjust the Level, Treble, Gain, and Bass. Fuzz 1 is okay- it doesn't sound great, but it's not bad. Now fuzz 2 is what you've probably come here for- if you are a fan of the band Sleep, or old 90s doom or black metal... that's the sound, right there. It's awesome. It sounds compressed, nasty and gnarly. It also sounds like the fuzz that Neutral Milk Hotel would occasionally use. That being said, I would still have other fuzzes or distortions along side this one. Now for the bad. Yes, the pedal is made of plastic. I don't get the sense that it's weak, and it perfectly suits my needs (home playing and recording) but I don't think I would go gigging or touring with this, or if I did, I would be extra careful. Also, if you use batteries, it's a pain to replace them. This is a one trick pony pedal- but it does that trick excellently. The best part is it's only 25 bucks! If you're a fan of 90s metal or lo-fi rock, you need to do yourself a favor and grab this!

These Behringer pedals do not cease to amaze. As far as the Super Fuzz goes, if your looking at, you already know what sound you are hoping to get out of it: classic fuzz tones. This pedal does not disappoint in that respect. The sound is distinct and well pronounced. This pedal holds its own against much more expensive competitors. This pedal just arrived today and there is a selector option I noticed when I purchased it but did not think to much about. That option is bass boost. As it stands, my main practice amp has that option built in. The bass boost on this pedal puts my amp to shame. On my 120 watt practice amp, I could probably break a windows with it on. It thumps hard. Now that I am aware of it, I would buy this pedal for that feature alone at the same price. I received my first Behringer pedal on Feb 25, 2016. It's the Ultra Metal. When I was purchasing it, I was on the fence but the price was right. It seemed a lot of reviews fell short of five or even four stars due to the amount of plastic in the construction. I have had plastic pedals in the past and they have universally been a disaster. Make no mistake, while only the base is metal, the plastic parts are very tough and all around well made. After the Ultra Metal I was enamored and have since acquired the Ultra Chorus, Vintage Delay, Vintage Overdrive, and now this. I am glad these are not all metal components. Enough thought went into the circuitry that they are in fact very high-end as it stands. They were careful in selecting the durable plastics that are used with these pedals. If they were all metal construction they would likely be substantially more expensive, and realistically could be as it stands just due to the sound quality. Being partially plastic makes these pedals more financially accessible to those who would not otherwise be able to assemble a collection, and I am confident they will stand the test of time. I will be buying more of these, and a Behringer pedal board.

The price on this fuzz pedal is so ridiculously low, how can you NOT get one? This is a clone of a Boss FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz, which itself is a clone of the iconic 1968 Univox Super Fuzz pedal. Experiment on how to use this pedal. Fuzz pedals need to stay at the front (beginning) of the guitar signal-- so put it as your first pedal... they sound muddy and dark if you put them after other pedals in the chain, except for maybe a boost pedal. BTW, this pedal is also a boost pedal-- a very cool feature that I use often with my other pedals when I don't want a fuzz effect. The pedal has a ton of sound sculpting that I really like, unlike a lot of other fuzz pedals on the market. Experiment with the tone knobs-- they drastically affect the pedal's sound. Also-- experiment with turning your guitars volume down, the gain UP and the volume on the pedal down somewhat... this will affect the "wooliness" of the fuzz sound. Your guitars pickups will affect the sound as well. This pedal can churn out thick and sludgy with a ton of smooth low end, or it can get treble-y, velcro-ripping and nasal with an upper harmonic poking though. Another suggestion is to also get the Behringer equalizer pedal and use it in conjunction with the Super Fuzz, you can get some interesting tones that way, too. Try driving it into a phaser for some truly killer vibes. I sometimes use mine like this: Super Fuzz>phaser or delay>reverb. Pedals are all about experimentation... I switch mine up all the time to see what new voices I can create. So what, the enclosure is plastic. It's very hard and sturdy plastic. Unless you have an elephant stomping on it, I don't see it ever breaking lol.

I've never really owned a fuzz pedal before, but have tried a few. Out of most I've tried, I've come across the Big Muff the most. It didn't really strike me as a good flavor of distortion to have until recently. Even my Boss Hyper Metal HM-3 is considered by some to be a fuzz pedal by some folks, but it isn't 100% there, certainly. My budget being what is it right now, I didn't want to spend a lot for a fuzz pedal. There are loads of fuzzes available for $100 or less, but this model is essentially three pedals in one. That's what attracted me to it, along with a few reviews in YouTube. Not to mention the bargain basement price. The three modes can be accessed via a switch on the right side of this pedal. The two fuzz modes (in my view) don't perfectly emulate any one pedal, but are extremely useful nonetheless. FUZZ 1 is a creamy, midrange filled sound. It doesn't get too bright, until the TREBLE knob is pushed past 3 o' clock. This fuzz could make even anemic single coils sound rich and thick. With humbuckers, it's actually quite clean in silences until the gain is past about 2 o' clock. I love the way this fuzz sputters when notes and chords decay. It seems to work best with power chords (root-5th note), and single notes. If you play complex chords, you'll hardly notice them; if you try to play them, use as little gain as possible. FUZZ 2 is more in line with the Big Muff. It has a scooped midrange, which makes things sound dark and sinister. With the increased bass and treble, complex chords work slightly better here. This fuzz also has more sustain than FUZZ 1, so it buzzes longer. This makes it great to use alongside a guitarist that's using a looser sounding high gain tone that isn't necessarily fuzzy. (Head era KoRn comes to mind for me...) The third option is ultimately what made my purchase worthwhile. BOOST. This mode is a clean boost with a flat midrange level. It actually distorts a little, but that's only after cranking the EQ and GAIN knobs all the way up. The resulting buzz does sound a bit like a slightly overdriven non-master volume amp (or a master volume's clean channel fully cranked). Still, throughout most of its gain and volume range, BOOST does a good job of staying clean. This would be great for pushing an amp into overdrive, or extending the gain of a heavily distorted sound. It might also be useful for a tiny volume boost for cleaner guitar tones, or just to maintain a stronger signal for a path full of effects. Overall, I like the tones this pedal spits out. I've only had it a few hours, but I love what I'm hearing so far. The build is similar to the other Behringer pedals I have, a NR100 noise reducer, and a TO800, their overdrive that sounds like a Tube Screamer. With this more recent pedal (built on June of 2010), the knobs seem slightly sturdier than before. I'd still not abuse them too much, though. As always, really abusive stompers might want to look elsewhere (or find a way to put the guts inside a custom built tank). You can't go wrong with the bright blue LED, either! Makes it easy to see on a dark stage, along with the dayglo orange pedal color.

Common knowledge is that the best modern clone of the original Super Fuzz is the Black Cat Super Fuzz. Of course, if you can find it in stock, that bad boy will still cost you two hundred. What if I told you that you could get a darn good Super Fuzz clone for only twenty something dollars? That' exactly what this is! Behringer has always been for beginners and budget minded players, and that's total fine, and there's a niche for that. Usually, I avoid the brand. But, this pedal was recommended to me by a very knowledgeable tech, and wow, was he right. You can really coax out some INTENSE, caustic fuzz from this thing. It is utterly pummeling. The YouTube vids are out there, but I think the Super Fuzz has less low end, more treble, and a much brighter fuzz sound than something like a Big Muff. It's just VERY aggressive sounding, almost more distortion than fuzz. The enclosure itself is a pretty cheap and chintzy plastic affair. It's fine for bedroom players, or careful users, but no WAY would this thing survive any sort of touring. (I mean, at least it's cheap enough to replace!) As long as you recognize that the enclosure is cheap and that's how they keep the price down, you'll be happy with this pedal. It sounds amazing. The value is undeniable. If you like fuzz and always wanted a Super Fuzz, pick it up.

I was skeptical, admittedly, but this thing make *the* fuzz sounds you want it to. Maybe they should’ve called it “Hyper” instead of “Super”. No weird undesirable noise. I use a good filtered power supply and a noise gate on my pedal board but even with that switched off it wasn’t more than every single fuzz or distortion on the planet is going to produce. The settings are easy and straightforward. You’re probably going to find one that you like and keep it there. If you want mild fuzz it’ll do it at low settings, the higher settings are as thick as they come. Can easily replicate the fuzz tone used on popular Doom Metal bands’ albums, but would be great for any high gain distorted sound. Personally I experimented with it because I like Deadsy’s guitar tone, and it’s spot on. I’m only judging this on what it is and not what it isn’t - it has a plastic enclosure that I wish were metal, but I’m not docking any points for that because it has held up just fine so far.

Behringer did a pretty job on this one, the SF300, but 'Super', really? Maybe not so super, but a good beginner pedal to dial in those fuzzy sounds from the 70's and 80's. I was looking for the 'Love Hurts' fuzz and with addition of other pedals, about got it. It is fun to see what all you can get out of it with overdrive, distortion, others. Not too much hiss. Haven't had it long enough for indepth review but like it so far. Give it 4 stars for price, sound, versatility.

I've had this pedal on my wish list for years and finally pulled the trigger a couple of weeks ago. Surprisingly, its arrival and first use made me wonder why I waited so long. This is an absolutely killer fuzz, especially for the low price. I have a few fuzzes that I would call 'nasty' fuzzes, including an Earthquaker Devices Hizumitas, which was inspired by the main fuzz used by Wata of the Japanese noise/stoner/doom band Boris. I also have something called the M-Vave Fuzz, which sounds epic when slightly starved of voltage. The Behringer SF300 Super Fuzz is a fuzz to rival both of those. This is instant stoner doom in a single pedal. I don't even run it with amp gain, I run it with the amp's clean channel and it slays.

Best pedal company on the market at a great price. I do enjoy a good Fuzz pedal when I do need to use one.
