Indestructible carry on
Pelican quality in a convenient size that gives you the option of carrying delicate items on board but not stressing if you have to check the case. SUPER durable, lots of “upgrades” available e.g. foam divider kits, lid organisers with zippered pouches, and my personal favorite ColorCase wheels (all available at Amazon).

Great Case!
This thing is a tank! An airline, (cough) Alaska (cough), took their best shot at breaking it, including a decent size melted spot, but it survived. Love that it is carry on size. With the foam removed it holds a surprising amount of clothes and travel necessities. Buy once, cry once!

Perfect for transporting podcasting gear
Great case. Worked exactly as I had expected. I purchased this case to transport a small collection of podcasting and live streaming gear to and from various tech conferences. I had no problems getting all of my gear into the case. Two layers of foam allowed me to get even more gear into the case than I had expected. The hinges and latches are very stiff - which I like. If I somehow manage to forget to latch (and use a padlock on the reinforced locking ports), then I doubt that the case would open on its own. I also like that I can order additional foam inserts for different configurations of gear. As far as travel, it's utilitarian, and tough. The wheels are protected, so they don't get beat up. The telescoping handle is much sturdier than other carry-ons - it's a sheet of plastic that slides along the bottom and is held in place by a simple plastic tab. That makes it a little heavier, but I bought this for protection, not weight. It rolls very well, and I never had any issues pulling it along through airports. It fits perfectly in the overhead bin - I'd argue that it fits better than most bags, since it's a hard shell and doesn't have any zippers or bulging pouches to get caught on the bin door or another case. If I travel without my gear, I would likely use this as my carry-on. I would absolutely recommend this for other travelers with gear they need to protect.

Pelican 1510
First thing's first - I got the desert tan 1510 with foam top and bottom. I went with the foam because I wanted a little more security for my Canon 7D and lenses. (I didn't want any movement) The case is brilliant - the desert tan looks great and it's easy to find among many camera cases when I'm on set. What's even better is the fact that it specifically meets the required dimensions for a carry on bag - no more worrying about the TSA getting a new camera! The roller wheels come in handy and have excellent bearings, The handles have rubber grips that feel good when carrying it. It's tough as nails and gets the job done. I was recently on a beach/dune music video shoot and We used our 1510 as a platform for our hi-hat (basically a tripod head that's flat on the bottom) in the water! No sand or water got in, and thats when I knew I made the right purchase. If you are torn between the padded pockets or the foam, don't worry too much - just think about what you are looking for and how much usable space you need. I'll add an update soon - as I am flying to Colorado and will test out it's carry-on ability. ***UPDATE (DEC 2015)*** It's been a couple years and this case is still amazing. It's held up on all kinds of location shoots and studio shoots. It's served as an emergency apple box as well as a temporary airport seat. This thing just won't break. Regarding the foam on the inside - pluck and peel is great but up until the point you have new equipment, basically get new foam or get the padded dividers if you change gear. Overall, one of the best purchases I've made. If you need any convincing, this is it.

Beyond rugged, protective and adaptable.
We never thought we'd need to take our semi-pro video camera on-the-road, but when I had to that first time, the homemade, temporary "case" I assembled using bubble wrap obviously was not a sustainable solution. Upon my return to the office from that trip, I began researching equipment/camera cases. I took to heart that spending a few less dollars would prove to be penny-wise and pound foolish (read other reviews of similar merchandise on Amazon and elsewhere). I could not risk damage or dings to a $2500 camera and a thousand dollars worth of wireless microphones and transmitters. This case - with its "pick-able" foam proved to be just the ticket. Yes, I spent 30 minutes or so picking out the 1/2" square end, several inches long foam "cubes" into a custom pattern that fit each piece of equipment snugly. But, once I had and the camera and equipment lay nestled in the extremely highgrade plastic case with unbelievably tight locks and seals, I was worried no longer. As I alternately wheeled and carried the case over the course of a week from location to location, its value, design, and my resulting peace of mind became increasing apparent. Be generous in calculating the size case you will need for your stuff; that's my only caution here. It was a tight thing for my needs with this particular case, so afford ample room inside for what you need to protect, not inches and inches, but at least an inch between items and at least that far from the case sides. I can't imagine there to be anything more lightweight, rugged, and durable out there. If there is, someone ought to review it. I am entirely satisfied with this purchase.

Usual Pelican quality with easy to customize interior foam
I'm using this case for transporting camera gear when traveling. The pick and pluck foam is easy to setup so your gear fits inside perfectly and the overall case is the usual Pelican quality and durability that I've come to expect. I've taken this case as both carry-on and checked luggage on the airplane and it always comes out looking great with everything inside in perfect condition. The pull-out handle for rolling the bag is nice and compact as to not take up any interior space (unlike a regular suitcase where the bars impede on the interior).

Case is very well constructed and built to last. The foam was easy to configure but in retrospect, it might have been wiser to have gotten the padded dividers so reconfiguration is possible. It's possible to retrofit with dividers so nothing lost in getting this. Camera and lenses now have a safe and secure place.

Finally got my Pelican case and it is awesome for my work tools. Very handy and easy to carry and it meets airport and airline dimensions for both hand carry and checked-in size. I am sure this will last for years of travel and rugged use.
