Great set for multiple riders - long battery life and great range
If you read this, you are making your fair share of research of these kinds of devices. And I wanted to buy the expensive name brands, too. Do the upgraded JBL speakers sound like real headphones? I don't know. For some reason I expected the sound quality to be on par with standard headphones. Maybe other brands are better maybe they are all the same. So if you want fantastic sound quality - then either upgrade the speakers or buy a different device. For me, the focus was on communication. I want to to talk to my wife while we are riding through the mountains. We both have our own bikes. This works great! Here are the PROS: - great range and re-connect: On open roads the range is probably close to half a mile. Behind switchbacks you'll get disconnected but it auto connects after which is a huge plus - wind noise: You pretty much don't hear anything besides the voice (or very heavy breathing). We wear full face helmets - not sure how this is for open face - battery life: We had this on a 3 day trip and never charged it (we actually forgot and it worked all day long) - waterproof: We ran into some really heavy rains and these did not show any signs of damage - Price: Let's face it - if you are looking into these, you think the name brands are too expensive - connectivity to multiple devices: I had navigation on from my phone and we were able to talk at the same time. I think you are supposed to be able to share audio with any driver but I haven't figured that out CONS: - sound quality: It's totally acceptable but sounds more like a phone call than a good bluetooth connection normally sounds like. - high speeds: while you can hear everything at speeds up to 55mph - anything above (even with a full face) and you won't be able to have a conversation - even on highest volume For me - the PROs far outweigh the CONs but I have also never used any other intercom!

For the money canโt go wrong
I ordered these units for my father and I to use on our upcoming trip to Sturgis in August. As you have already probably seen , doesnโt come with instructions. There are plenty of installation videos on how to get it installed into your helmet. The clip was useless on my helmet so had to use the 3m sticky pad to mount. Seems to be doing great. The fx8 paired seamlessly to iPhone 13. I usually wear a half helmet but installed this in a modular helmet. At first I was super disappointed because I mounted the speakers in the factory determined speaker positions in the helmet. The sound was low and terrible! Turns out the speakers were too high and too sunken in. Speaker position is everything! Determine where the speakers need to be in relation to your ears inside your helmet first and then mount. Speakers attach via Velcro so re-mounting them was no problem. I had to purchase some additional velcro circles to build them up a bit to get closer to my ears. This was due to my helmet design but you may or may not have this issue. Once I got them positioned right, wow the sound was loud and impressive! Phone calls are surprisingly clear at 80mph + and the person on the other end can clearly hear me with little road noise! This is with my modular helmet open! I love this about the unit. After 30 days of owning it, and using it almost daily, I only have two disappointments. 1- the comms function, which was my primary reason for purchasing it was sub-par. It doesnโt seem to auto connect/pair automatically to the other unit and when trying to use comm on the road the volume is not high and the mic noise cancelling doesnโt seem to work. I was hoping the talking clarity would be as good as a phone call but it just isnโt the case. 2- voice command sucks - seems to only work when engine is off and itโs relatively quiet. You can double tap the โ-โ button and trigger Siri voice activated commands but I would rather just say โ Hey, Siriโ and it workโฆ 3- there is a rubber plug type cover that goes into the charging port that covers it and keeps it protected from the elements. Mine keeps popping out and wonโt stay in. I am concerned that it could ruin the unit if it gets wet โฆ. Well that leads me to the most impressive part of this. Fodsports customer service. The company checked in after I received my order and I informed them about my charge port cover. They sent me another unit 2 day shipping!! That is amazing customer service. For its small flaws I canโt see riding without it and I havenโt gone back to my half helmet yet. Just having the music alone when out on a ride makes this totally worth it to me. Battery life has been outstanding. I would buy again and I would definitely buy it again. If comms worked as good as it should it would have been 5 stars.

Prefect for what I need. Same as $350 pair of headsets.
This headset is surprisingly great. It is really easy to use while on the bike. The large well placed buttons with with wheel to adjust the volume is so simple and intuitive. FM radio function, bluetooth, intercom and being able to use your digital assistant (Siri) and phone GPS hits all the marks for all the features I would ever need. Even using Siri to navigate. Just double click the previous button and tell her "Navigate to Walmart in Dallas, Texas" and you are on your way. Good reception with an extra boost of antenna if needed is a good added feature that shows that whomever designed this product actual put thought into it and cared about its functionality. The reason it is so good is because of the price. Other name brand headsets are over the top pricey with the same features. The sound is prefect for me. My motorcycle is LOUD. I have a full face mask with modular design. I used the foam pads that came with it to put the speakers right at my ear. It works perfect for me. I really don't need a 7.1 surround sound orchestra audiophile playing going down the road. However, if you want a private beside your ear concert by Elton John you can always upgrade the speakers. Although some wire cutting is involved, it is very simple. Youtube is your friend. But that goes with any headset that you purchase. Overall, for the price you can't go wrong. I am very happy. This is a great alternative to spending loads of money on a name brand headset.

Good product, here's the manual!
This is my first helmet intercom, so I don't have anything to compare it with, but I did a lot of research before buying and the FX8 really stood out as a great value - and I must agree! Sound: The audio was a little fuzzy, but at least the volume is loud enough to hear, even when doing 70mph on a noisy motorcycle, and the person I was talking to could barely tell I was going fast. Ease of use: The set up is not very intuitive - YOU WILL NEED THE MANUAL - and luckily mine came with a copy because I can't find it online anywhere. So, I scanned a copy and shared it here. You're welcome. I had misplaced mine and tried using a youtube video to pair the intercom, but it didn't help much and I'm not sure how I actually got them to pair up. Without the manual, you'll never figure this thing out. But at least the buttons are all easy to press - even while wearing gloves - and I really like that the volume is a knob instead of a button. Also, the 2nd time I went to use it, the bluetooth auto connected to my phone and the FM radio was simple to use (once I found my manual to read)

Good for the money
My wife and I wanted BT capabilities but I did not want to put out te $550 to $600 for th set I was looking at. These units are easy to install, easy to pair, and they work. The boom mics work better than the pzm type. The PZM type has a little echo to it. We have paired it with a Sena 10 also, but it looses connection from time to time. The range is good. The little flap to cover the charging port does not want to stay in so for thr waterproof??????

I recieved it in 3 days it arrived that is above service now days.
I haven't talked to other headset of the pair but the bluetooth is really excellent at high speeds clear and low speed I have to turn down the volume. That was 60 to 75 mph just to test it on am completely satisfied with the sound it is crystal clear I didnt turn it to full volume. This is a honest and I'm not making it up it it clear so far I am really satisfied the big knob works as they said I even raised my face shield to test it still loud I did even turn it up to max that was at 70 mph also just to see what it would sound like. I did a lot of reading about ever headset on amazon. I will put a review on Here after I try talking to a passenger or another rider. I'm impressed about how easy it was to set up the bluetooth and how easy it connected up to the phone it was instant and easy. I use spotify for music I think it will do as well on the phone and what ever I use. Believe me I'm 69 yrs old I ain't no dang computer guru. I dont know nothing about setting it up . It was that simple . I charged the battery I've used it 3 hrs and messed with it a couple hrs showing it off to my friends in my riding group. I havent had no indication the battery is weak. But I'm going to charge again and have it ready for the next ride. I'm about to mound the other unit on my wifes helment. And see how it works and how the talk back and forth and test a phone call in and out. I ain't got nothing to do with this company I'm just telling you how I'm pleased and the quality is great after the test run and using them. My brother is buying a pair of the same thing he has a real cheap single set that he hears good with but less quality and his has the adjust button on his mike it is to hard to use riding and impossible to use wearing glove these I just got gloves or bare fingers the big knob and buttons work great. I'm going to order him his soon as I post this. I think it's a good setup for my opinion.

Bought it for one thing, doesn't even do that.
I was intrigued by the ability to listen to music while on intercom with another rider, so I bought a pair. Upon using the product as directed, the wired connection never works. I've literally tried every combination of buttons to activate it, and it seems it's the same as the button combination that's supposed to work for the M1-S (the button combination isn't even in the FX8 manual, this took some searching). When you do switch it on (which seems to be activated by pressing Previous and Next simultaneously for roughly three seconds), all you hear is faint static. I've connected multiple devices with the wire while playing audio, and nothing comes out of headset. I thought it might be the cable, so I tested that as well, but the cable works fine between other devices. Even if I just wanted to use the wired connection without connecting to another headset, I can't even do that. All the other functions seem to work fine, but the one thing I bought it for doesn't. Huge waste of money, I'd look elsewhere if you're trying to listen to music and talk over intercom with someone at the same time. 1 star for false advertising.

Worked well for the most part
I bought these for a backwoods off-roading trip for my fiance and I, as we were going on seperate buggies and for the first few days were not going to have anyone with us. I thought that with these, they would give me a peace of mind as she rode behind me, and I could not only check in with her, but also notify her of obstacles or other people up ahead. The packaging was nice, presentation nice, and setting them up was a breeze (albeit the instructions could be a little more in depth). We tried them out at home first and everything worked great, she hooked hers up to her phone so she could listen to music out on the trails. The first day we were out riding and everything was going great until the end of the day. My intercomm button would stop working so the only way I could talk to her is if she pressed her button. Then hers quit working while mine magically started working. We ended up turning them off and back on and it was working intermittently. We charged them that night and everything seemed to be fine for two days when all of a sudden whenever we intercommed there would be a lot of background interference, it could become really loud and sound like nails scraping on a chalk board at parts. We reset them again and all seemed fine. Not sure what caused it, but after our experience with them, we definitely will be using these again.

Very good value for money.
Sound quality is good enough for the price, and the controls are pretty intuitive. It's by no means any audiophile hardware, but it's acceptable. On a clear day with antennas up, we don't get much more range than 150m. It's very hard to hear past 80 km/h, and impossible past 120 km/h (though this will vary depending on how quiet your helmet is - we had full face helmets). Past 40 km/h, if someone had their visor up there was a pretty bad screeching noise from the wind, which is sub-optimal. I really like the 3.5mm pass through, which meant I could listen to music or gps with active comms, and you can even use it as a passive headset with the communicator shut off entirely which is cool. Battery life was great - 10-12 hours easy. Pretty happy, would recommend to people looking for something totally useable on a budget.

Think twice before buying
I read some good reviews on this product so thought I would give it a go. I was immediately concerned as soon as I opened the box. One of the headsets had some dodgy looking wiring. It didn't look broken as it was mainly the outer insulation that was too short in one part leaving the very thin internal wires exposed. Fitting the devices to the helmets wasn't so difficult, just a bit fiddly and the different combinations of microphones, headphones and mounts was good. Pairing to each other (two FX8's) was simple as was pairing to the mobile phone. Haven't tried to connect to other intercoms. The sound quality is very, very 'tinny' and cheap sounding whether listening to music or voice through intercom. Not a deal breaker given the price, but it gets worse from here on. The intercom only really works when stationary!! When moving I could only manage to pick out one word in every ten or so my daughter was saying and she was sitting on the same bike as me! It's not because of wind noise, it just keeps breaking up / dropping out although my daughter told me that she could hear me so maybe there is a problem with just one of them. The radio was the same. Every several minutes it would just cut out from anywhere between 10 to 30 seconds before coming back on. The headphones are hard-wired into the mount which is a terrible idea you will have to buy a whole new mount when the wiring fails. The plug that covers the charging port is all but completely useless!! It just constantly falls out which if you ride in the rain or get caught in the rain would be a real concern. Lastly, don't be fooled by Fodsports flash website and their promises of great service. Could not be further from the truth. Good luck if you need to contact them. They may reply once or twice, then they just completely ignore any further emails. I've tried to get this working by trying different things I have read, but nothing has helped. I'd be prepared to try another set hoping mine was just a bad unit, but as of the time of writing this, I am returning them to Amazon, who, by the way made the return very simple (the return has not been fully completed yet).

pairing more than 2 is a bit tedious
Quality seems good, mounting is very easy. Pairing 2 is easy , 3 or more not so easy. Using 2 seems to have good sound quality. Using 3 or more seemed to be a hit and miss at times. Can communicate with line of sight only.. Auto re-pairing was a hit and miss also.. I have these problems with my Sena also.. For their price and functions we are going to use these ones more and test the limits of them..

Works great and excellent customer service.
Bought two and used these all winter with our snowmobiles. They work very good and it's easy to find the function even when you have big mittens on. Would 100% recommend these to anyone. I was a bit scared about the volume being too low since my snowmobile has a pipe but I didn't have any problem and could hear my music clearly. Unfortunately one of my speaker stopped working at the end of the season, so I contacted the seller and they sent a replacement right away.

Connections hassles and audio problems
The way this device handles it's buttons for connections are ridiculous so get ready to memorize manuals I keep having repeated Bluetooth connection issues where the device is connected to my phone but the audio is gone so I forget the connections and try again and again Now 2 months after purchasing one of my headsets has static like a bad radio station, I just came here to look into how to return these but I guess I'm screwed, I maybe got 10 uses in 2 months and now I've got $200 crackling headsets that occasionally take 20+ minutes to get to work
