With the new 6.7L exhaust systems, they have switched to a CCV or Clank crankcase ventilation system. The CCV system discharges the crankcase gases into the afterfilter for the turbo-air input, which makes the turbocharger wheel oily accumulate. If the crankcase bladder is higher than normal, these gases can also coat the interior of the charge air cooler, reducing efficiency. The Open Breather Kit turns the closed system back into an open vent. This prevents the oil collection on the turbo compressor and maintains the cleanliness of the charge air cooler.
