Scotts Outdoor Power Tools PS45010S 10-Inch 8-Amp Corded Electric Pole Saw, Adjustable Head & Oregon Bar and Chain

Excellent product! I had to cut down a number of 4” to 6” diameter branches that were pretty high up, and I was told I should hire a professional tree company. For a fraction of the price I decided to try to do it myself, and it worked like a charm! At first it didn’t work at all, but it was because I didn’t assemble it properly. Once I realized what I did wrong and corrected it, it was fine. This Scotts 10 inch electric pole saw cut through the branches like butter! PROS: Easy to set up - great price - long reach - cuts like a champ - CONS: A bit on the heavy side - chronically leaks oil - could be dangerous if you don’t take proper precautions. I’ve only used it once, so I can’t tell you if it has longevity, but hopefully it will continue working well. I put it away in a plastic bag, as it wants to leak some oil, but I am told most chainsaws with reservoirs do leak a bit, so I guess it’s parr for the course.

I would buy this again but probably will not have to - I used it after a Hurricane to clean up hard wood branches, softwood branches and Palm trimming. Its a bit top heavy but worth it - its built solid and strong cutting ( I got large gas chainsaws but its a lot of work dealing with getting into places with 4" inch hard thorns ) - this solved it and I am amazed cutting UP ( yea not suppose to do that with chainsaws) - but it cuts / cleans up side of Palms (PUNK / Palmetto trees) really great shaping them ( if you don't you get small rats in that area under the palms). It does not go through oil that much... and the long pole fully extended would be tuff for 55 and older as its top heavy (extremely easy to break down - who designed this is real great engineer ) I am older and you find out Plugging things in gets job done vs. storing gas hard machines ... or bad old batteries ... its way more cost-effective and easier to just get things done and get back to normal life not TREAMING your life away like lost time Pressure washing. I highly recommend it - I used it 10 times with no issues and easy to clean - it's built tough

I will open by saying I worked for 25 years teaching chain saw safety & maintenance, and have owned two electric pole-saws, while using different battery-powered models for my employers. After a few hours of use (including perhaps 15 to 30 minutes of actual cutting), removing dead oak tree limbs (very dense, dry wood, 1 to 4 inches diameter), and live Wisteria limbs and trunk (of 6 inches diameter), this Scott's electric pole saw seems like an excellent value. The chain it came equipped with cut a bit aggressively, creating more vibration transmitted down the pole to my hands, than I expected. I suspect it is not a "low-kickback chain;" that being a safety feature that I feel is especially appropriate on consumer-grade products like this. I may see what caused the chattering vibration when I attempt to resharpen this chain, the only one sold with the saw, or when I compare its performance to that of the two spare chains (Oregon brand) I purchased to use in rotation with Scott's Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) chain. I did encounter one manufacturer's defect that initially prevented the saw from running at all. After opening up the handle, I found tiny bit of excess plastic preventing the handle from being properly (fully) depressed. I am sure opening the handle, and my "user's modification" probably voided the warranty, but my call to customer service resulted in being told I had assembled the saw incorrectly ("backwards"). By the time I found and fixed the actual problem (it required trimming a tiny edge of excess plastic, less than 0.5 mm, by sanding it down), I was convinced this electric pole-saw was suitable for "homeowners (a.k.a. consumer-grade), and value-oriented." The tool is beautifully engineered, and assembled (except for the failure to test the on-off switch for function). It appears to be durable and likely to have a long service life. Its design also appears to make it impossible for the user to assemble it "incorrectly," and it seems to be made of quality materials. Electric saws are so much less trouble than gas-powered saws. And I've found corded saws much less expensive over time, and probably the "greenest" choice avaiable today.

Ohis has been good - does exactly what I need, has enough power and is light enough to be used at full height. The adjustment for length works well. I've cut 8-9" branches and many smaller ones. As you'll probably be using it overhead, remember protective gear (goggles, hard hat) - chaps and gloves I guess aren't necessary, but that's up to you. A power cord is not included so you need to use your own extension cord. The power cord does come out frequently if it catches something or you step on it and I guess that's a deliberate safety thing but it seems to come out a bit TOO easily. When set to the shortest length you can use it on the ground to cut fallen stuff if you can't be bothered to get the gas saw out - never let it touch earth/soil - you'll blunt it immediately. Only had the chain come of one time but I was working it hard and that was after a lot of use and I probably wasn't holding it straight. Battery versions just don't have enough power so the 'inconvenience' of a cord is worthwhile. Of course, a falling bow or branch is heavy and can be dangerous so make sure you know what you're doing and where it's going to fall. Take some instruction or watch some videos. Use an RCD.

Looked at lots of pole saws in the $80 to $100 range and picked this one because: 1) It had a 10 foot pole compared to others at 8 and 9 feet. 2) Cutting head seemed to be lighter and more maneuverable according to reviews. 3) I prefer corded electric tools (more later) We had an 80 foot pine go down on our lake shore from the edge of Helene. Just wanted to trim the top to restore access for our kayaks and a lot of high branches hanging over water. I had done about three hours of work the previous weekend with a manual pole saw and barely made a dent. Three hours of work with this electric pole saw and I was done. Took on a couple of 8 inch diameter limbs 10 feet up and cut through them effortlessly. Smaller branches went really fast. Had no trouble with chain tension which is less than I do on regular chain saw. As long as your careful it seemed to resist getting bound up in the cut. Pretty much, if you can get the chain on top of the limb, you can pull the trigger and let the saw chew through the branch - really quick and powerful. Something I'd never expect from the manual for a consumer pole saw, but it has really good directions on how to sharpen any chain saw. So it is a little chain saw attached to the end of an octagonal (instead of round) pole -- which makes it very sturdy -- never noticed it bend at all. Nice hand cushions for holding the pole and the power supply to the chain saw head runs inside the pole. Really feels like a quality tool. So for home owners who use their tool 4 to 6 times a year on an acre lot, I'm a big fan of corded electric tools. No two-cycle engine oil-fuel. No worrying about fuel over the winter, spark plugs, getting it started the first time. Compared to battery powered tools, No batteries that discharge before the job is done. No extra tool weight from batteries, no extra cost from buying/replacing batteries. Corded electric -- yes you need a convenient outlet and and 150 feet of cord to manage, but you plug it in and get your work done. Wipe it off and put it away and your done. One man's opinion. This Scotts 8 amp corded pole saw vastly exceeded my expectations. It's really a sturdy powerful tool. Feels like a lot more than the typical consumer grade tool.

Totally disappointed. Bought it on February 2026. I wasn't on a hurry to use it and finally assembled it in mid April. Initially, I was impressed. Easy assembly, sharp chain...overall good. I used it for a second time and after 10 minutes it died. Check everything possible and nothing. I do not recommend.

I have several trees needing branches removed that were out of my reach, even on a ladder so I bought this pole chainsaw. It works like a charm! The first morning i pruned two good sized oak trees and filled a pickup with branches to haul away. I went with a corded electric saw over the cordless because it is about half the price and I figured i would get more work done than one charge on a battery. I already have many battery tools, including a Ryobi chainsaw and a Ego string trimmer and I'm overall very happy with battery powered tools, but for this application i decided to go with the corded option. This is a heavy saw, you can feel the weight on the end of the pole, but i am hoping the weight is a sign of rugged construction. Against the manuals recommendation, i used the saw while i was on a ladder (let's be realistic - pruning trees requires some climbing!) and i was very aware of the weight on the end of the pole and was extra cautious to maintain balance. The saw performed great - it had plenty of power to cut quickly through even 8" oak branches. I am thrilled with this saw and looking forward to keeping my trees well pruned.

This saw is outstanding for the price. Cuts bigger limbs than it has a right to. A little on the heavy side because there’s no heavy battery in the handle to offset the head weight.

I bought this saw to take down two dead 50 foot Lombardy Poplar trees that were growing right against the fence. I wanted a saw that would allow me to reach up and section off the upper trunks and drop them straight down, hopefully without landing in the neighbour's patio, crushing the fence or breaking off branches from the many other trees in the area. This saw worked a treat. It seems very sturdily built and is very powerful - it has no problem cutting a full 8" of hard dry dead wood. It was easily assembled and fully extending the pole sections gives you a good 10 foot working reach. The saw was easily manoeuvred even at full extension. I was impressed with how fast it cut - I had both trees down and bucked in 3 hours with this saw, although I used a 16" saw for the thick section at the base of the tree. The Scott saw has a good chain oil system - it feeds oil through the bar and is much superior to the dribble system on my larger saw. Before use make sure you oil the chain well and use a grease syringe to grease the roller in the bar nose through the 2 holes provide in the bar. Overall, a good little workhorse.

This tool did a super job of taking down about 5 feet off the top of 10 evergreen trees. It is quite heavy when fully extended but still easy to work. It certainly saves you from climbing great heights to reach very high trees. My husband and I are very pleased with our purchase.
