Balanced out with honey and sugar this yuzu marmalade is bright tart and warmly sweet with every bite. I had to smile at one of the reviews I read by an American who equated this marmalade as reminiscent of Pine Sol; really?! Yuzu is a citrus indigenous to Japan where a sliver of the rind is used to accent various Japanese dishes. You can find yuzu-ade (like a lemonade, but using yuzu juice) in any 7-Eleven style convenient stores, and here you have another translation of the Japanese citrus used in a western way. This particular maker can be equated, in my opinion, like a Smuckers of Jiffy brand, nothing for gourmands to wax lyrical in blogs about but it does its business giving the yuzu a proper platform in the humble marmalade. Tastes great on toast lathered with butter (where I can feel a nostalgia of my Tokyo days while sitting in my NY home), and I like to add it to my pound cake recipe to give it an extra "secret ingredient" dimension.
