Great filter!
I just got the 307 for my 40 gallon tank and it works great so far. It cleared up my tank in a couple of hours. Set up was easy after watching a couple of videos beforehand. Almost no noise from the filter itself, but I do hear the water a little more because of the extra flow. Not enough to bother though. I highly recommend

New Design that works
I now own two of these awesome 407 Series 7 filters from Fluval. I won one of these several months ago and finally set it up. This filter is quiet and efficient. As you can see in the picture the water is crystal clear in my slightly overstocked 55 gallon community. Also the size of the filter does not take up a lot of space, I have it in a recycle pail from a local chain store in case of any leaks (No leakes to date). The new design is efficient in clearing even the smallest particles in the water column, it is set up for easy cleaning and has enough capacity for diy'g you own media make it more efficient. In the several months of being in service, the only time you have noise, is when the water level drops and if it's not in time when I am doing a water change, I lower the flow and problem solved until the next water change. The flow control can also be used to reduce the flow while feed. The have now introduced a UV clarifier, a skimmer and a spray bar. The unit comes with a spray wand, which works well at breaking up the surface allowing for better gas exchange. I am thinking of adding the spray for better tank circulation and rotation of the column of water in a rolling motion front to back as opposed to just moving the top level of water around tank. This will add to better cleaning, surface agitation and gas exchange. In my opinion this is a great filter and alternative to a larger canister which may be overkill in certain situations. It moves water and the GPH is 383 US Gal/h. Most times the MFGR's states the GPH w/o media in the filter. A canister that won't break the bank and is not huge if you want to hide the filter under or behind the tank, depending on the size of the stand. I own a few different canister from other manufacturers and this one is a cut above. Check it out, I think you will be happy.

Always quality
I've owned a few different canister filters and I think Fluval is the overall best. Simple to hookup and use, thr primer function is great. Also easily regulated water flow. I recommend this style and brand of canister filter.

Good "baby's first canister" filter
Fit and finish and parts are great inside. Instructions not too bad. In my opinion, i think the tubing is a little bit hard to wrangle but it gets the job done. I like the adustible flow lever and its really easy to prime and start the siphon. I did quite a bit of reading and youtube watching before I made this purchase. I also know this filter is not a magic bullet to solve all problems. Here's my filtration setup: 1 seachem tidal 55 stuffed with sponge.. why? additional flow, aireation, and purely mechanical filtration with some biological capability to break things down to nitrates, plus a good place to put filter floss of chemical media to absorb meds if needed. Also very quiet. 1 Fluval 207 canister filter with a focus on biological filtration and enphasis on keeping water as clear as possible before moving over the bio media. The key to any canister filter is smart utilization of space. I will be 100% honest and say the bio media that comes with it is way too smooth and probably will not do a good job having enough surface area for groth of a good bacteria colony. For what its worth, if you do not try and optimize the potential surface area of the filter you are basically wasting your money. The goal is to have as much water touch as much of the media as possible. It's up to you to decide what bio media is good. But something that fills each tray and is very porous would be a good idea 2nd thing to consider is how you intend to remove the fine particles from the water so your bio media does not get too gunked up. The prefilter on this thing is really nice but does take up a good chunk of space in the canister. That why I decided to use an extra HOB to take some of the burden off the canister and to maximize success. Plus in an emergency i could carry the tank for a few days with that HOB. Peronally I think the sponge in the first tray is too fine and that can affect flow and get clogged super easy. I decided to stuff with some more coarse sponge and leave just enough room for filter floss, though I might remove the floss alltogehter. The reason why I'm considering removing the floss is because I used an intake prefilter to help block some of those initial big particles even before they hit the quite generous prefilter area in the canister. I don't have a need to run any chemical filtration as of now unless i'm dosing meds or something else in the tank that will need to be removed later. So its good to save the bag of charcoal that came with the filter for later. To keep from making a mess when you release the red connector, just slightly lift SLOWLY and wait for the water to settle and you shouldn't have any spashing problems. Be mindful when you survice your filter, that grey lever for flow control is all that's keep your tank from dumping on the floor. But it is nice to have a permanent siphon if you need some tank water to clean your filter. :) In all fairness, this is a GREAT first time canister filter. just remember not to OVERSTOCK the tank or abuse the unit. Keep it clean on a regular basis. Check on your ammonia levels and keep up with your water changes. Also remember the advertized flow rate is without anything blocking the pump. Cut that value in half and then determine what capacity is right for you.

Strong performance, easy maintenance, and well-designed
I’ve been using the Fluval 407 Performance Canister Filter and overall it’s been very reliable. Once set up, it runs consistently without fluctuations in flow, so stability hasn’t been an issue. It comes with all the main accessories you need to get started, including hoses and media, which makes initial setup easier. The connections feel secure and I haven’t had any leaks, which is important for a canister filter. In terms of versatility, it works well for different tank setups and handles both mechanical and biological filtration effectively. The design is clean and compact for what it is, though it is still a bit bulky, so you need space for it. Maintenance is one of the better parts—media trays are easy to remove and clean, and the overall process is straightforward once you’ve done it once. It’s also fairly quiet during operation, which makes it suitable for living areas. Overall, it’s a solid, well-built filter that does its job efficiently.

BUYER BEWARE!!! FIVE 407’s later…
I have had ongoing issues with the 407 model. I purchased my first 407 February of 2020. Since that time I have had to replace the motor head 4 times. A few times I had to replace it urgently and just bought the filter again entirely. My newest motor head is number 5! Having had an older Fluval model for years it seems like a significant defect. I have recently identified that the fail point is the same each time. The impeller cover does not properly engage. This took me years to figure out why the 407 would just stop filtering properly. For some reason the impeller cover disengages with the water pressure during filter operation. When cleaning and clipping in impeller cover, it clicks and seems to engage but can’t stay engaged properly. Improper sealing makes filtration completely ineffective. A few times I noticed the tiny plastic clips in motor head were damaged over time and I thought this was the cause (pictured) but my newest one, same problem and no damage. It literally did not work from DAY ONE. I have spent hundreds maybe thousands of dollars on new parts, and over and over this filter fails. I recently tried fixing seal with PTFE tape and that also did not fix the issue! I can’t believe that I am the only one with these issues!? Either it’s a significant flaw in the design of this model or I just have the worst filter luck ever! I have a turtle that I’ve had 15+ years. I’ve owned nothing but Fluval filters since day one. I have been happy with them up until the 407. UPDATE: Rolf C. Hagen (USA) Corp. also has terrible customer service! When I finally wrote this review I reached out to Fluval and said that my 5th motor head failed. I bought from Fluval Aquatics direct - Motor Head for 407 - $84.99 - Motor Head Maintenance Kit for 407 - $32.99 - Intake/Output Kit for 307/407 - $41.99 With tax and shipping I spent another $176 on 11/17/24. I emailed them 12/24/24 to say I’d like to return these parts and this was their reply: Dear [Customer], We thank you for taking the time to contact us. Sorry to hear that happened, unfortunately we do not that apologies. Thank you, Julio Sherwood Customer Service Dept. Rolf C. Hagen (USA) Corp.

Best filter hands down
Let me just start off with saying I don’t think I will ever go back to a HOB filter! I was using a AC50 and 70 Fluval HOB filters on my 55 Gallon tank! And they worked fine but it was an eye sore when looking at them just hanging there, and there was not a lot of room for filter media! I decided to get an upgrade to the Fluval 407 Canister filter and I will not go back! This filter is sleek, easily concealed even with an open bottom tank stand, quite as a mouse, keeps my water crystal clear, has crazy suction and water flow! Hands down super good! It is a bit pricey but it is worth the money! I was a little confused when it arrived and I started setting it up as in the box is only 1 tube, I did not know that you needed to cut it, but that could be my fault as I always assume I know what I’m doing. But super easy to set up with or without directions (I would read the directions just in case)! After you unbox and set up you siphon the water in as directed and once there are no more bubbles, you plug the bad boy in and you just let it go once it’s set up there’s nothing you need to do besides the occasional maintenance and that’s also super easy 10 out of 10!!

Good buy, however
Pros - Easy set up - Fits plenty of media - Stable - Good all round filter Cons - In my opinion it is slightly too loud for bedroom use, you will hear a quiet loud humming noise (my hearing is good so take my word). However I have tried my best to fill up my cabinet under the tank to try muffle the sound as much as possible but it’s still somewhat loud. - Inlet and Outlet tubes are too thick for a Fluval Roma meaning you will have to either cut into your Lids or the plastic frame on the tank... - Both tubes can tap on glass or wall through the vibration of the canister so a few extra suctions cups thrown in would be handy. - Should include a Fluval Spray Bar Side note: If you have anything under a 200L tank do not buy the 407 because even at the lowest outflow setting it will be too powerful for fish that prefer slow moving water like Betta’s. I have just about got the right flow for my 200L by including a spray bar and having the outflow at the lowest setting.

Süper ürün
Tek kelime ile canavar. 500lt akvaryumum icin aldım debisi ciddi yüksek. Akvaryumdan iç filtre dalga motoru ne varsa çıkardım. Tek başına her şeyi yapıyor. Boyutlarıda gayet makul .Ve çokta sessiz çalışıyor. Kalite tesadüf değil kesinlikle parasını hakediyor

Akvaryum temizliği çok başarılı
Satıcı çok çabuk gönderim yaptı. Beklediğimden çabul elime ulaştı. Teşekkürler. Ürün çok sağlam, kurulumu basit. Akvaryumu temizlemesi gayet iyi. Bazı yorumlarda ürünün ciddi gürültülü çalıştığını okudum. Benim aldığımda da bir uğultu sesi duyuluyor. Bu durum normal mi bilmiyorum. Tv sesi açıkken bile duyuluyor. Bunun dışında memnunum

Excellent eco friendly filters.
I have a 3x 207, 1x407 1x406 and fx6 across different tanks. The 207 is a great little eco work horse. Very efficient and cleaning. Relatively quiet. Good fit. I don't know why but eveytime I install I end up having an initial leak but after that touch wood they've been pretty solid. Maintenance is easy. Good value for money especially if you get it on sale. Much better than in tank filter.
