High quality razor at an affordable price, but a bit larger than most "travel razors.:
I recently purchased this as I was looking for something to carry with me when I travel. I prefer traditional shaving with a single double sided blade to the more modern cartridge razors and this looked like a solid kit to pack into my travel bag. When I got it the first thing I noticed was how heavy the kit is. The razor handles appear to be solid brass that has been plated, and screw together very solidly giving this razor good heft. The handle is almost completely covered in cleanly cut knurling that feels great between my fingers and should provide a very solid grip when the handle gets wet when shaving. The head of the razor is a little lighter in weight which leads me to believe it is made mostly of zamack (a zinc alloy) which is common in modern 3-piece safety razors. Zamack razors heads can be a little brittle, however this one feels very solid and the travel case should protect it from any damage. The head is a little lower in profile than many razors I am familiar with which means it should be easier to get into tricky spots like under your nose.Overall, the razor looks and feels great and is worth the price on its own. When assembled the razor is actually larger most full-sized safety razors. I would guess that the handle is about 3.75 inches as it is nearly an inch longer than my old Gillette Tech razor. While most "travel razors" are smaller to be more portable, this is razor is definitely full size.My one qualm about this kit is that it is over all larger than I expected. I am not unhappy, but I was expecting something smaller and this kit is about 6 inches long by 4 inches tall. Keep that in mind if you are looking for something you can tuck into a pocket. The case itself is called "faux leather" but it really just feels like textured rubber. This isn't a bad thing, as this case will invariably get wet from time to time and the rubber should hold up just fine. The stitching along the edges of mine was a little rough in spots, but it looks like it will hold up to normal usage. The ability to pack a case of blades in the case to travel with is handy as well, and it fits a full-sized modern plastic 10-pack sized case of blades so you shouldn't run into problems regardless of which brand you prefer. The scissors are a nice inclusion and while they are kind of thin they cut my hairs precisely and cleanly so I have no complaints.Overall I would recommend this razor to anyone who wants a solid full-sized razor that breaks down into 4 parts for travel.

Travel razor
Very convenient. Handle is a little short but has nice weight. The scissors work well and I am very pleased with the razor and case.

and this is a great go-to for travel
Replace the blades with a higher quality option, and this is a great go-to for travel.

Great kit
Couldn't believe the weight of this razor, I should've bought one of these long ago.

Great Travel Razor!
The quality of the razor is very similar to my Edwin Jagger and the shave it gives feels about the same. The razor has some nice heft to it despite it being a travel and the kit is much smaller than it appears. I am very satisfied with this kit!

Buy this kit for the handle - FABULOUS!
Purchased this kit primarily for the razor's handle - it is absolutely one of the better-made DE travel razor handles on the market (there are much pricier ones, such as Above the Tie and Weber bulldogs, vintage, the Maggard MR8 stainless 90mm handle [bargain!], and the iKon 67mm stainless 'Tuckaway' [bargain!])The obvious comparison for this kit would be to the same-priced Parker A1R - i have both, and i have to say that i prefer this kit. The kit comes wrapped in plastic in a small cardboard box, all unmarked except for the bottom of the large portion of the two-part handle, engraved with the word 'Pearl.' All razor parts are wrapped. There was a small 5-blade pack of 'Tiger' razorblades. All components of the kit appear to be made in India. The razor head is unmarked, unlike the Parker A1R, which has the word 'India' underneath.Finish and plating on the handle - the shining star of this package - is superlative. The head has the typical fit and finish of its ilk, but was just as good as my Parkers and Merkur 500. However, the head i received in my travel kit held my Derby blade perfectly, with little pre-tightening alignment required (for comparison, no such alignment is required on the made-in-the-USA stainless Weber polished head - drop in the blade and tighten the handle with confidence - excellent tolerance and machining). The pair of scissors will do an exacting job of trimming hair to complete your tonsorial. They are extremely sharp and pointed - a good thing - if a bit wobbly. As others have mentioned, keep the tubing for safety. The entire package weighs about 7 ounces. The razor has a nice 108-gram heft, and the handle - the absolute best part of the kit - is 3 and 3/4" long - great for a travel razor! The shave? Aggressive! You can tell just by looking at the gap. However, the shave was good, BBS after two passes. And unlike the Parker A1R's head, which has bitten me every time i've used it (6X), there was no spilled blood on my maiden voyage with the razor.A great kit at a great price with a fabulous handle (wish i could buy the handle separately - i'd get a couple). 5 stars, baby!

Good value for the money
I ordered this razor for my travel kit. The case is pretty tight, but with use the components should slide in and out easily. As others have said, this is a hefty razor. It is slightly more aggressive than my Jagger but less aggressive than other razors I have used. But that should not be a problem as long as you take your time with the first shave or two. My shaves have been well within the acceptable range.I did not like the feel of the "Tiger" brand blades that came with the razor. I simply replace them with Feather brand platinum blades and everything was fine. The Feather five blade box is a pretty tight fit.The scissors are a bit wobbly and the points are very sharp. Don't discard the little piece of tubing that comes with the scissors. It makes for a safer way to store them. For the price, the razor provides very good value and I'm more than satisfied with my purchase.
