Learn the Inspiring Story of the Los Angeles Lakers' Legend Shaquille O'Neal! Read on your PC, Mac, smartphone, tablet or Kindle device! In Shaquille O'Neal: The Inspiring Story of One of Basketball's Greatest Centers , you will learn the inspirational story of one of basketball's greatest centers, Shaquille O'Neal. Often nicknamed "Shaq" or "The Diesel", O'Neal left an indelible mark on the center position. His incredible power and athleticism made him a practically unstoppable presence on both the offensive and defensive ends of the basketball court. It's no surprise O'Neal concluded his career a four-time NBA Champion. He was such a unique generational talent who could immediately change the course of a game. In this book, we'll learn more about Shaq's journey into the NBA, his impact on the game, and his legacy as one of the best to ever play at the center position. Here is a preview of what is inside this book: Childhood and Early Life High School Career College Career at LSU Shaq's Illustrious NBA Career: From Starting in Orlando, Achieving a Three-Peat in LA, to Bringing Miami the Championship International Career Post-Retirement Career Personal Life O'Neal's Impact and Legacy on Basketball An excerpt from the book: The NBA has had its share of dominant players that could lord over defenders and push around grown men inside the paint with ease. As they say, the NBA is a big man's league, and some of the best players the league has ever seen were among the greatest and most dominant men to have ever set foot on a hard wood floor. And wherever those dominant players went, success would usually follow. One of the NBA's pioneering dominant players was George Mikan, who played for what was then the Minneapolis Lakers back in the 50's. At 6'10" and 250 pounds, Mikan would not be considered one of the biggest players in today's era. But back then, he was already among the largest in the league. Nobody could stop him in the paint on his way to five NBA titles. The first truly dominant player in league history was Wilt Chamberlain. Standing above seven feet tall and weighing nearly 300 pounds of lean muscle mass, “Wilt the Stilt” used his height and strength advantage to bully players down under the basket. Chamberlain was rumored to be so strong that he could easily lift a man over 200 pounds using only one arm. He even once dunked the ball so hard that it broke an opposing player's toe. All of this strength and size were vital for Wilt Chamberlain to score 100 points in a single game. He even averaged over 50 points a game during one season while holding five of the top ten scoring averages in a single season. He was a man among boys back in the 60's era. Wilt would end up with two NBA titles, which he won during the twilight years of his career. During the 80's and 90's, Karl Malone would use his bodybuilder strength and muscle to push opposing power forwards around when he bulled his way to easy baskets inside the paint. Because of how well-conditioned and dominant of a player Malone was, he was able to stay active until the age of 40. Eventually, Malone finished second in most points ever scored in a career. Sadly, Malone was always the bridesmaid to Michael Jordan's bride as he would never win an NBA championship during his era. An interesting read, but something missing!!!
I read several books a year about great sports people in American sports history. This book about Shaq is a good one if you are looking for the stats he compiled during his long career in the NBA. I am beginning to give four star ratings to books that leave out more in depth delving into the personal lives of the athletes. I just read about Terry Bradshaw's career and little was said about his married life. I think these type books should blend in as they go about the things that happened to these super stars in their persoanl lives. I read this book constantly thinking about how Shaq compared to Wilt Chamberlain. To me, Wilt was more athletic and accomplished things that will never be equaled in the NBA. Wilt averaged 50 points a game one year and no one will ever do that again. He also led the league in assists one year when asked to do so by his coach. Kareem Abdul Jabbar was also more athletic than Shaq, but Shaq certainly had a career he can be most proud. I do enjoy his sense of humor when I see him on TV and thank the auhtor for beinging out that aspect of Shaq. All in all, this is a good book and I recommend it to readers who want to know more about this great player. Good book to inspire your teenager.
I was hoping this book would be a little more inspiring. How he attained stardom and a business savvy. It’s written more for a 13 years or under.

Great book if you love basketball!
When you think of the most dominant big men in the NBA, who comes to mind? Most people would agree upon Shaquille Rashaun O’Neal. As he was growing up, this wasn’t always the case for him. In this book, one can learn of the hardships that Shaquille goes through. He wasn’t always a talented player, but he put in the work that was needed to become proficient. This book reflects on Shaq’s younger years and how he had to earn his role on his school team. It also shows that he did not give up on the thing he was most passionate about. This story covers his dominant NBA career and his time as an ESPN host. It also covers his struggles with his teammates and how he overcomes them. He eventually ends up winning 4 Championships, has one of the best NBA careers, and makes the hall of fame. The main character of the book is Shaq. He is a very hard working person and has a passion for basketball. He also is a very funny and smart guy. In college, he had the highest GPA on the team. He is not afraid of a challenge. An example is when he had a teammate who was better than him, but Shaq put in more work and earned his way into the starting lineup. Another character is Shaq’s Stepfather. He was a soldier and trained Shaq since his real father wasn’t around. He always pushed young Shaq to do his best and never give up. He was very strict and didn’t let Shaq make excuses. The theme of this story is to work vigorously at what you yearn for. Don’t let small, inconvenient things ruin your passion for something. One also has to work towards their dreams. Always strive to be better than the one above you and to put in the effort necessary to become the best. We can also learn to push pass grudges we have with people. One saying that I like that can be applied to this book is that hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. I really enjoyed reading this book. I would recommend this book if you are looking for inspiration to fulfill your dreams. It can inspire you to not give up what you're passionate about. If you like statistics I would also recommend this book, because there's a lot of stats. The structure of the book is also well put together. If you are a fan of basketball, this book is great!
