It Can be mounted in the ceiling, but it is a rectangle and was really designed to be in the wall. They (klipsch) make an in ceiling thx round that is a surround specific speaker, the ks7502 thx.

Which one will sound more balance between klipsch r-5650-s-ii or klipsch r-5850-s-ii for the fronts and which one has a good mid range?

I'm assuming you mean Klipsch r-5850-wii. Those will sound mich better for your fronts than the 5650-sii. The 5650-sii are for side and rear surround sounds.

The R-5650-S II has a power handling of 50 Watts at 8 Ohms. It is recommended to connect this speaker to an amplifier/receiver that supplies close to 100 Watts per channel at 8 Ohms.

Does the sound "roll" accross the horns as the sound object goes front to rear? In other words, do rear sounds amplify from the horn facing the rear?
