I want to use this mic for an instrument, would it work OK?

Actually 3/4" is not large - and it's the same sensor that's in the 991 stick mic. It is an ideal mic for acoustic instruments - which means a totally flat response in the mid range frequencies of which vocal is only an example. Let that be your guide. I have no experience with any other use. Same is true for the stick mic.

Which one of these allow me to connect to a computer via usb? The midnight blue or the champagne?

Is it normal for this mic to have exposed wiring? I mean the bottom cap in the mic to come off easily?

It is very easy to open by hand, especially since the included custom mic clip nut engages with one of the parts that can unscrew from the main body. With the clip-mount nut removed, the bottom half of the large body will unscrew from the upper mesh-covered half. The bottom body is a cowling that protects the circuitry. I would suggest to MXL that they may want to include a few more threads on the connection between the upper and lower bodies, and to sell a high-quality shock mount and possibly re-think the threading of the mic clip-nut to the connector bracket that is attached to the upper section. If it threaded only to the lower section, then operating that mic clip nut might interact less accidentally with the overall mic assembly.

Will a samson mk-10 mic stand hold this microphone? if not, can someone tell me where to get the correct size mic clip?

If your budget is below 10k consider these.Verdict:1. I love these microphones because they have great frequency response (captures all highs,mids and lows)2. Can be used for both vocals and Instrument recording .3. Prices might have gone high but I got it at a good deal from amazon.(7.5k)

I would give a zero Star if possible

The only sound you get to record is a big hiss noise. The noise is more than the signal we want to record. I own a studio and have all high end microphones. I bought this since I thought I can use an inexpensive condenser mic on the go. I was out of town when the order came in. I tested this mic one day after the return window so missed my chance to return. The only useful thing about this is the shockmount which Im using for my neumann mics. Otherwise a waste of money in my humble opinion. Another possibility is that I got a defective item. But I dont think so.
