When first watching this training I could not help but think of the old “In Living color” skit with Jim Carrey. Then I started working with a training buddy and the movements began to make TOTAL sense. They are very fluid and once ingrained in muscle memory should become very easy to do with little thought. Another thing that I like about the movements is that they would work well with other blade styles. Though optimized for the blade style Mr Williams is known for they would also work well with daggers and Karambits.

This is great for someone who doesn't have the need for too many options, basic defense, or want's a few techniques to go with their defensive training. I'd suggest getting the first DVD if you have no training, but I've seen both and the first video had little information I needed. I got this video for reference purposes, as I train and teach other styles. I like James Williams designs, and he's a great martial artist with realistic views. The techniques are simple, functional, and certainly worth the money. Get a Hissatsu Trainer to go with it, have some fun with a friend and learn something new.

Doesn't teach cookie cutter 'techniques' so much as foundational and strategic ways of moving in response to an attack that are highly adaptable to the specific situation. It is an excellent video and he appears to be an extremely knowledgable and informative instructor. Though he stresses it at the beginning of this video, you really do need to watch the first disc in the series to follow what he's teaching on this one. Highly recommend this video for anyone who may one day be in a hand to hand conflict.

Not the typical FMA knife fighting technique you see in most knife combat DVDs. James Williams does an excellent job teaching "Samurai Style" knife combative. The movements in this video might be geared more towards the Military SF community, they are mostly all lethal applications.

it would have been a five except for all of the marketing on the front end. The instruction is good and production quality is excellent
