retractable baby gate
I got this gate for my hallway area of my home. I have two little kids and a dog to gate off from the bedroom area of my home. My husband installed this gate fairly easy, he is handy with this stuff. I like that I can easily open and close it. Also I can imagine us taking it on a trip for the hotel room. It’s alot nicer than the other one I found at bed bath and beyond and less costing too.

Looks good and robust. Install with caution!
Looks good. It can be installed on places other gates can't. It has to safety mechanisms that give confidence to put on top of stairs. The installation manual is basic. Some pieces to even the wall supports were included but not specified in the manual. Be careful when drilling the holes. If you do not place them properly, mounting or securing the door might now work.

Kids are good. Small pets no good
This is a good gate. Installs easily. Only problem is there is slack along the bottom. So how this wont matter much for humans. As far as small dogs. They will either squeeze under or get stuck trying. So needless to say. I am returning this because it dosnt serve the purpose I needed it for. But as far as kids. I'm sure it would work just fine

I’m sure it would be good, just not for mid-staircase
Overall this is probably a great gate, however I needed it to block half way up my staircase. It was not possible to install it that way. I was so looking forward to using it to keep boarding dogs on the first floor of the house (I’m a pet sitter).

Easy to install.
It works. It keeps my 18 month old away from the stairs. But I think there are other gates more aesthetically pleasing I could’ve or would’ve chosen in hindsight.

Good for a difficult space but challenging gate
No instructions were included, so I had to figure out how to assemble. It was challenging.The opening mechanism doesn’t work well - this is definitely NOT a one-handed baby gate.

BROKE IMMEDIATELY
If I could have given this no stars, I would have. The gate stopped coming out of the cartridge shortly after we installed it. Very poorly made.
