This is one of the worse purchases I have ever made. It is made of the cheapest of plastic. It leaked melted water the instant the ice cubes started to melt. I shut it down, went thru the instructions again and I was using it correctly. There was hardly any air that came out and it was barely cool. It was very loud. I think the worse part was just how cheap the material was. The material alone probably did not cost $3 and yet they sold it for almost $40. It was a bad deal all the way around. The real bad news is that it is 107 degrees here today and it is very very hot in my small room. If this thing had worked as advertised I would not be typing this while sweating to death.

This portable a.c is small but it's very useful. I don't have a normal size a.c right now and this has helped me get thru the hot summer nights. I put it on my night stand and have it blow cold air on my face and it really does help me cool down and sleep. ( You have to add ice in the back for it to blow cold air.) All in all for the price and size it's a good deal.

I rent a large master bedroom in a big old house in Southern CA which does not have AC. I do not have traditional windows in the room, just a large sliding glass door, so a window AC was not viable. I wanted to try to find something to cool me off even in whatever part of the room I was in (while working on the laptop or eating) so I decided to try an evaporative cooler. My friend said her daughter had success with a small, low-priced one in her dorm room so I thought I'd have a shot. This did not even make a dent in the heat in this room, despite the room being large I did not even feel cool when I had it directly in front of me with my face directly in front of it. I did follow all the instructions and used the ice as recommended. Perhaps the heat was just too much in this sauna-like space but as I said, I was not really cooled off even when inches next to it. I know some people have had success with it, however, so who knows. Too bad because it was very easy to use and a no-brainer to set up. I did return it and had to order a portable AC plus additional hardware to make it effective outside of a sliding glass door - all for only 10x the price of this baby. =...(

I purchased this device for my son's small bedroom. It made no difference in the overall temperature in the room. Even when it was pointed directly toward my son, only a couple of feet away, he stated he barely felt a cool breeze.

Half the AC in my house went out, so this was extremely useful. Use the AC mode, actually made it feel like a real AC unit. I’d recommend putting ice cubes in it, to make it even cooler. It is pretty quite on the lower settings and lasts hours before you need to refill with water. I like how it’s small enough to sit on my night stand. However, it didn’t cool down the room as much as i’d hope, but it is amazing by you, pointed in the right direction.

This is just a cheap quality fan that they tried to pass off as a portable AC. The idea is that you put water/ice in the tank and it will cool down the room. I ordered it because I'm pregnant and have been waking up drenched in sweat. It did not cool down the room. Infact, I still had to wake up 3x a night to refill the stupid tank. If I didn't fill it up, it was just a weak, noisy fan. I returned this and bought a cheaper, stronger fan that keeps me so much cooler.

This cooler was a god send for the past heat waves in SoCal. The cooling power is just enough for my need to use for my workstation so I don't have to cool the whole room. This helps me save electricity during the weekends when I'm at home. The operation is simple to follow and the build quality is good. I also double it next to my bed at night as well above a small chair.

I read the reviews before purchasing this item and everything sounded great. After receiving this item, I really don't know how this item received so many positive reviews. It is made of this cheap looking plastic and I'm afraid I'll break it if I accidentally knock it over. Also, you can't feel any of the icy air unless you're two feet in front of it. For $45, I could've gotten something better from costco or target.
