Still the best tie downs in the world
I finally bought a new pair of these. The last set I bought 30 years ago and they're still going strong! I have friends who cheap out and for a few bucks less buy that cheap, thin ratchet strap. They are constantly double and triple tying their machines (and having to buy twice as many tie downs), because they can't trust their straps! I've hauled bikes from one side of the country to the other and traveled the roughest forestry roads imaginable - never had an Ancra strap fail.

... ever finding any decent tie downs that had a good cambuckle, properly shaped S-hooks
Ordered 2 pairs of these after giving up on ever finding any decent tie downs that had a good cambuckle, properly shaped S-hooks, and quality webbing all in the same product (or at the local box stores). And I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were made in USA.The S-hooks and buckles are even larger than I recall my original early '80's ones being. The hooks are very nicely rubber coated - all of the hook, not just the end. The webbing doesn't seem as heavy as I recall but I'm certain it will work within the listed working weight range. Stitching on loops is neat and well done. All in all a nicely constructed product.

Ancra, when you want simple tie-downs that work
I have been using Ancra tie downs since 1978 and they are the best ones Ive tried. I like the pull action better than the ratchet kind. Easier to prepare and loosen. These things will last a long time if you can keep them from getting lost or stolen. Just pull or loosen to approximate length, hook and pull tight. This is as easy as it gets and a very strong hold.

Super easy to use!
Fifty years ago I bought a couple sets of these, but I've only got one old one left, so when I saw these in Amazon I bought four more. They are extremely well made, and very strong. I love this type of tie-down because you just hook them on and pull tight.

"Assembled in USA with US and Foreign Components"
Ancra used to be the best tie down in the buisness but it seems they sold themselves out to China. I was not happy when I opened my box of straps and saw "Assembled in the USA with US and Global Materials." Buyers beware...

Good quality straps that I trust for all heavy duty hauling
I bought these a month ago to use them with my motorcycle. Today while I was undoing the straps on the motorcycle, the silver metal piece in the buckle broke when I pressed it with my thumb. The silver piece broke in 2 places and the pieces fell off as if it wasn't made of metal but porcelain. This seems like a manufacturing defect. I have attached a picture.I contacted Sline (the company that sells Ancra consumer cargo products). Their customer service phone number doesn't work and the email address mentioned on their website doesn't exist (email bounces back).UPDATE 7/25/15: I contacted Sline again through one of their marketing channels about the issue and they acknowledged that they had some faulty buckles in some of their production batches, which were recalled by them about 5 years ago. They were surprised that I received one of the faulty buckles. They promptly sent me 2 replacement straps (instead of just one) by UPS. The new straps work as designed, no issues. This is good customer service from Sline, although the only problem with the entire process was that their main "customer service" phone number doesn't work! I give 4 stars to the product, but 3 stars to their customer service.

High quality, worth the money.
I have some of these Ancra brand tie downs that are over 20 years old and finally need to be replaced because they're weathered and the straps are frayed from use. These new ones seem to be the same high quality as the ones they're replacing, which is nice. The hooks are also larger, so they fit more easily on my bike's handlebars.Cheapy straps are okay for some stuff. For the important stuff, when you need higher-grade straps, you won't go wrong with these.

great hold downs, gonna compare them to my 1983 set i still have.
i bought my last set in 1983 which i still use, i towed a car using one for 60 miles from melbourne florida to orlando. my originals are old and almost colorless due to the rain and weather but still function fine. gonna try and take care of these better instead of leaving them in my truck bed.these hold pretty much anything you want to but bought them to hold motorcycles and never had one fail.
