first off, i don't have time to tell you a story about why i purchased this item. already i've lost that battle becuz here i am "Writing A Review" its the chicken or the egg, is it not? i bought this CD becuz it is music that i like. funny ha-ha, but i only buy items that i like or need. you see the feedback button allows me to by-pass the "Story Telling" or "Review Writing" portion of the transaction so that i can use my precious time for more pressing matters. unfortuneately for me, this "Review" has gone on for 30 minutes now that i'll never get back. 30 minutes that could have been better utilized toward issues with more priority in my tiny world. bottom line: you win, i lose becuz you've stolen this "Review" time away from me when a "Thumbs Up" comment should have sufficed. in the event my assessment had been a "Thumbs Down" then i would have been obligated to explain that decision. if i received an item that was damaged, then i have the option to send it back or ask for a refund. thus placing control firmly in my hands by knowing exactly what i want or need. Bing, Bang, Boom, nuff said. in closing, i would love to wish you a good day and a happy life but i can see by the clock on the wall that my time (and yours) unfortuneately is up. so do everyone a favor, dont forget to Wash Your Hands and ALWAYS,.........Keep Yer Stick on the Ice..........Peace & Thanx; CB Atoms :)

Great sound quality second CD did not like but worth the price just for the first cd awesome collection of their best hits

This compilation is like a window back in time. Chryssie Hynde's vocals are so fierce and also so tender, you can just hear why this band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She headed the band at a time when many believed that "girls don't do" rock and roll. And she's still touring, at age 72!!!!

I had forgotten all about the Pretenders until I heard again (for the first time in years and years and...you get the idea!) the song, "Back on the Chain Gang." Great rock-and-roll song! There's really no point in reviewing the 'Best of' CD. If anyone doesn't know the material here, they haven't been listening to rock for the last 30 years, or they are too young to have an appreciation of what the best of The Pretenders is and need to listen for themselves. 'Break Up The Concrete' is a relatively new (2008) collection of songs, on the country side of Chrissie Hynde's style, which is why she's employed a band of legendary and near legendary country/folk musicians to be The Pretenders this time round. There's a range of songs, from the rockabilly of 'Boots Of Chinese Plastic' (anyone who doesn't get the play on words involved, go check your early Dylan) to the Bo Diddley beat of 'Break Up The Concrete', through a series of philosphical and wistful songs. Hynde is in great voice and melds perfectly with the immaculate musicianship of her chosen band.The new CD is relatively short, 11 tracks, none of which are lengthy, so to combine it with a 'Best of' package for the price of a single CD was a rare piece of generosity by the marketers. 33 tracks from the amazing Chrissie Hynde, backed by the various incarnations of The Pretenders- that must be the deal of the century.

Every song is good. I grew up listening to Christie Hynde. I love this double CD. Well worth the $$.
