This is a great method for tapping into electrical lines. I am currently working on a model train layout, and I have used them to power LED signal lights using the power buss. Just be sure to match the wire size to the clamp.

These were excellent for an electrical project I had. I was wiring a run of LED lights and I initially purchased 2 different brands of a scotch lock lock off from 2 big box stores. They were a total waste of time, they were junk and made my project 3x longer to complete.Someone told me about the 3M Scothlocks and I ordered them, the quality is good, they are easy to use and my project went by quick. I’m so sorry to have water my time with the knockoff brands.

The connectors do mostly what is advertised.The product description is misleading: It only does run to tap, not run to run. However, this can be resolved by drilling out the 2nd hole for the secondary run.When using on cars, motorcycles, etc while exposed to the elements, this product is not adequate, as the wire insulation cuts and blades are not protected from moisture.Some complained that the latch does not close or lock: First insert the wires of adequate size, then drive the blade through the insulation, then close the flap. It would be difficult to drive the blade with the flap or to cut into wires that are too thick.
