Speck Products SeeThru Case for MacBook Pro 13-Inch with Retina Display

I really like the Speck laptop case. This is my second one which I had to replace after a year because it is so badly cracked - better the casing than the computer! Protected my computer excellent - not a scratch or a ding! I also like the fact that the edge my arms rest when I type does not irritate or scratch my arms. It's very comfortable to type with. Highly recommend!

Been a customer of Speck since my 1st Powerbook in 2005. Case always lasted life of the product (or longer!). The date of this reviewposting is: 12/27/16No more.Ordered this $30 10/16, it arrived early 11/2016 for immediate install on a adult-owned laptop. No transport, not even within house. No drops, bumps. Never seen inside of a backpack or carry on, never met a TSA agent for a blue-glove date for a HD pat-down. Length of use: 2 months (almost)Pros =True blue/jewel tone blue; it fit machine and looked pretty (for a little while).Cons =Top shell: arrived warped/could not get left rear latch to ever "grab on"/seat fully; 2 months top shell major traveling spiderweb crack from back 2.5inches long & growing legsBottom Shell: 1.25" straight crack out from heaphone jack port on L side; L rear corner cracked off; R rear footpad fell out repeatedly (superglued itback in to get it to finally stay)Times are hard. So much hard work goes into every dollar. I don't usually write reviews but am doing so to assist others from donating money to a wealthy corporation for producing and marketing a defective product. Am a VERY unhappy customer and inaddition will be spreading the word to the other geeks in the Silicon Valley that Speck is no longer producing a reputable product.After 10 years I am no longer a customer of Speck.

This case fits and looks great. It's easy to apply, matched the color in the photos exactly, and doesn't block any inputs on the MBP. The area below the touchpad is especially well designed. The case follows the contours of the computer making that portion look especially nice. There is also a lip above the screen that make opening a snap. The apple logo looks especially rad when lit up through the case as well. The only downside to this is that it can be a little difficult to remove. However, you can remedy this by using a credit card to pry it (gently) off. Overall, this is a great case that will keep your macbook safe and you happy.

I bought mine used through the Amazon Warehouse for like ten bucks. It lasted a solid thirteen months and, for the price, I'm very satisfied. There's no reason for the new products to be priced as much as they are, but the warehouse has so many used options for every color that it doesn't really matter. A couple of weeks ago I dropped my laptop. It was a really hard fall. I figured I had to have broken something. But it was fine! Proof of the case's value anyway. But a piece of the case chipped away and ever since then, it's almost like it's been slowly decomposing. I find new little pieces of plastic on the floor every couple of days. I feel like it was fatally wounded in battle. But it died doing its duty to my expensive laptop so its service will forever be appreciated. Anyway, I'm picking up another used case today for twelve bucks and hoping I get another good year out of it.

I ordered this brand because I read a lot of reviews for a lot of similar products. Being that the pink color was nearly half the price on Amazon as it was elsewhere, I decided it was worth a little extra money for the name brand because there were fewer people with fit or other issues and because a couple of people pointed out that although others look identical at first glance, when you put this one next to an off-brand one on two computers side by side, this one is a lot thinner, lighter and has a better fit.Others complained that they're cases had scratches new and I experienced this as well. Although @90% of the outer part of both sides of the case came with a piece of plastic protecting them, the corners and edges are not protected. Because of this, mine has @1" scratch near the bottom of the top cover. When I first saw it out of the package, it was obvious, but now that it's on the laptop I don't see it. I think the light going through both sides of the plastic when it is not installed makes it much more obvious. I did not think to take a picture of the scratch, but I have uploaded pictures of it installed, so if it might bother you, you can get an idea of what it looks like on. This is slightly disappointing, although several reviewers said that other cases scratch or crack much more easily.Because I have a shoulder injury, I had my husband install this case for me. It seemed like it was on right at first, but if you looked closely not all of the tabs were where they should have been. We then put it on correctly. I could see how someone who didn't make sure that every single tab was over the metal corner of the laptop could think it was installed correctly and use it gently and then find that it had cracked because there was long term stress on those parts of the case. Could this be the reason why there are several negative reviews about this case and others cracking shortly after purchase?Lastly, I would have thought that someone would have made a similar case out of TPU (it's like a cross between silicone and hard plastic) for the macbooks rather than hard plastic. It's what I originally thought this case was made from. I feel that TPU helps offer some shock absorption and would prefer that. (Just thought I would add that in case someone knows of a reason why not or knows of one that is available)Overall, for this type of case, I believe that this is one of the best offered, unless you would rather spend less and live with some of the negatives, especially at the current Amazon prices. I'm happy I went with this and if speck covers the entire thing with plastic to keep it from getting scratched, it would be 5 stars for me -at least until someone makes a TPU version.

**Update**So, I have had my case for about 7 months now, which is good, but it has started to get a little wonky. The bottom clips that keep the bottom half connected are starting to break and that piece seems to be falling off all the time. I know I got a good 7 months out of it, but for $50 I had hoped for better. Looks like I am out to find another.I must say, Speck has probably saved me thousands of dollars over the past several years. Their cases took a beating while on my phones, they might not have always walked away looking pretty, but they did their job. This is why I decided to go with Speck when I got my new 13' MacBook Pro with Retina display.It arrived quickly and for the most part was in good shape. There is one spot that has a little cluster of scratches, but I can't even tell where it is when I put it on my MacBook. I know a lot of people have noted that it is really hard to get on and off, which I haven't found to be true. It fits very well, and when I had to take it off to get a speck of dust under the case it wasn't too bad.I spent weeks searching for the best case and was surprised that not very many cases had protection on the back corners, which this one does. My only concerns is that it will overheat, though, I know that none of the vents are covered up. I just wish they would have put a few vents on the bottom.If I had to change one thing it would be the glossy finish. It is fine and I am sure others like it, I just wished they had the satin finish in clear also. I will update in a bit if anything changes. All in all, a good product.

First time I bought this case for my macbook, it fit like a glove and lasted 3 years without a problem. This one doesn't fit properly (yes, I checked that it was the correct model before purchasing) and has subsequently cracked and broken in just about every weak spot. The corner tabs that go around the base of the macbook have broken off and never clicked into place properly, 3 corners of the screen cover cracked after clicking in and out constantly and the last one is barely hanging on.I bought this after the last one was so good and trouble free, but I am massively disappointed that my reasonable expectations for another quality case from Speck were not met. What a waste of money, I won't be buying speck again.

I have always been a fan of the Speck laptop cases. I have owned the purple, the silk black, the clear, and now the black Onyx. This black Onyx one does have a different feel to it. And I honestly did think I was purchasing the smooth black like I had before but this is just fine. They are very durable cases. They protect from liquid spills very well. I haven't spilled anything on mine but my sister has spilled coffee on hers and the speck case I got her last year saved her laptop. I will continue to use Speck cases as long as they are available to purchase. Not to mention I love their sleek design and solid colors. Sleek and professional looking is the way I like to go with my laptop at all times. I highly recommend the Speck cases.

Premium feel and does the job!

Habe bislang immer beste Erfahrungen mit diesem Laptop Cover gemacht, weshalb ich es nach 5 Jahren noch einmal nachbestellte. Damit sieht das Laptop wieder wie neu aus. Bislang hat das Cover den vielbewegten Computer prima geschützt.
