I purchased these lights for my front porch area (in a shorter length) and to hang as lighting across my backyard because power outlets aren't easily accessible on my house. After having great success with my front porch, despite the sun only charging the panel (realistically) for about 6 hours (due to location, my house faces north and slightly east, so the sun only really hits it from 6 am - noon), and getting about 7 hours of light from the bulbs subsequently, I decided on getting them for the back porch. I have been impressed by the ease of assembly and the lasting charge of the solar panel. Even with not getting the best sun in general in either the front or back of my house (trees in the back), and the rain (it has been raining every day for several days) my lights will go on at sunset for at least 5 (more like 6-8) hours. I have already dropped them on the ground, no breaking(!) which is a benefit of the plastic over glass bulbs on Edison lights which easily shatter (I am not clumsy per say, but I don't have amazing luck in this arena). However I want to make sure I say they do not look plastic when strung, they look just like my neighbor's glass lights. They are pretty sturdy! I haven't tested them in gale force winds yet, but the outer bands of a tropical depression came through the region and they have not broken and they have lit every single night. I cannot speak to dealing with customer service or having issues with the lights, as mine have worked perfectly. My partner was skeptical of spending so much on lights, but they now are remarking each night "what a great purchase!" when we look out of the window or are enjoying the night on the porch. I look at this as an opportunity not to have to buy things over and over again (which I feel is wasteful) The ONLY criticism I have so far is that these do not turn on unless it is completely dark outside. The work around is covering up the solar panel with someone solid, and the lights will go on, if you'd like to have them lit at twilight time. I have done that in the above picture so you can get an idea of how they light. Might set up a second strand, but the were definitely brighter with a whole day of charge, so don't be discouraged if you set them up and the panel wasn't out all day to charge. Just a tip.

I live in a small, midcentury apartment building with no outdoor electrical outlets. I wanted badly to install some sort of decorative lighting but obviously preferred a way around running a 20ft extension cord in through my sliding patio door. Lo and behold, my Amazon query brought me to these beauties. They are affordably priced, professional-looking, and cost-free in terms of operation. AMAZING! I managed to install them in under 30 minutes using some outdoor adhesive tabs for the wires, and two screw-in c-brackets for the solar panel. Now, if you're looking for a warm yellow light, these might not be your bag. They give off an unmistakeably "LED" glow, but not harsh or cool at all. These are not really bright, either. I wouldn't say that you could comfortably read your newspaper or a book, or grill without extra lighting. But if a nice ambient light is your goal, these should do the trick. What's more, they charge automatically (when the switch is engaged), they turn on at nightfall and turn off again at sunrise. I love them, and I'd definitely buy more in the future should the need arise.

Work well and look beautiful at night, strung along patio walls. After a full day of sunlight, they are lit all night.

Got it to put up on our front porch so we wouldn't have to run electric for most of the night for delivery drivers dropping off packages so they can see. It has a basic on/off switch which is very easy to use, but there isn't any settings for lighting effects. The solar panel was easily installed onto the side of my front porch awning. The lights have very nice, thick wires with soft rubbery coating so it should be great for outdoor use to withstand snow/rain. Lights are very bright which illuminate the surroundings in an elegant fashion. The bulbs have an 'old school' orangish hue to it. The lights last about 5-6 hours at night when the battery is charged after a full sunny day. When there is a very cloudy/overcast day, it lasts about 2-3 hours. Overall, very happy with purchase. The item is very nice quality for the price. It is a 4/5 stars for now - once they prove themselves durable after a few months, I'll up it to 5 stars.

Edited two weeks later: The lights are working as promised. I’m assuming the solar panels needed more time to fully charge and distribute the energy across all of the bulbs. The wires are still not making a secure connection from the solar panel to the lights. You have to move the panels around a bit to get the lights to illuminate properly. It’s like there is a short somewhere in the wiring; make sure to test them ASAP. Give them 2 weeks before returning them. This negative review was based on faulty assumptions: “Hate to write a negative review but I have to share Edit: the lights are working as promised the truth about these lights. Purchased 2 sets & 2 extensions (don’t buy the extensions). Just think of them as an $80-$100 tip, fireworks, a concert ticket or an amusement park ticket. They’re not permanent. 1st picturture is the angle the solar panel has to be placed in for the lights to receive power (both sets have this issue; it's similar to using an old TV antenna). 2nd picture are the lights that are not working, and the 3rd picture is the relative distance (1/2) of the lights do not work. The 4th picture is an upclose shot of the LED; bottom 6 LED's work, Top 4 look burnt out. I'm aware that over time they may turn on and may last longer but I'm I live in the south TEXAS border region. We don't have tall trees blocking the sun...we have palm trees and Mesquite trees. Either way, these lights were placed in direct sunlight facing the sun (I have experience with solar and photography; I know where the sun is at all times of the day). The problem is with the solar panel and wiring. I'm not an electrician but you shouldn't have to play "twister" with electronics just to get them to work. It's only fair to mention that I bought these for my father as a Christmas Present in 2020. He finally took them out of the box and put them to use for a party. Four years in storage is a long time, but that's what you're buying right? These items are stored in an amazon warehouse and shipped on demand. We don't know how long a product has sat on a shelf before buying it...It's too late for a refund, but the lights are the same product the company is selling on 5/30/2024 (date of review). My father is convinced that the solar panel is not strong enough to light the entire strand of lights. I bought the longest version; maybe the shorter version works better. I don't know...but this is a consistent theme in all of the solar powered consumer electronics I've purchased over the past 4-5 years. Solar powered phone chargers, lights, toys, etc.. This includes the various solar lights I've purchased at home depot, walmart, harbor freight, lowes, etc. They last for a while... So if you buy, try them out ASAP!!!

I didn't know what to expect as far as how bright they would be or how well they would hold a charge, but I am impressed on both counts. They were very easy to install along the wooden fence and the solar panel sits atop facing south with the help of the screws included. The bulbs are plastic, so didn't have to worry about knocking them around as we set them up and hung them. The solar panel is small but getting almost a full day's sun (and even some periods of cloudiness some days) they give off a warm light that lasts all night long! They are still shining at 6:00am! The light is not as bright as my plug-in LEDs, but it is bright enough to walk along my stone paths without running into things, and more important, they lend a sweet, festive mood to my backyard. Have been using them for a week and they appear well-made and durable, so we will see how well they last in the heat of an Austin summer!

I really like these lights! I kept buying plug in string lights but they kept burning out. These are warm white with the perfect amount of light for my cozy back patio. They look just like the glass bulbs that plug in. I’m super happy with them. We’ll see how they do this winter in the PNW.

Amazing lights. The brightness is great for a small patio or deck. The solar panel has a great battery life which charges during the day. I’m not in a place with a lot of sunlight and still found the battery to be more than sufficient. The Edison bulbs are beautiful. Durable through all 4 seasons and super easy to install.
