We love it!
We searched for a unique range hood when replacing an over-the-range microwave/hood combo and feel so lucky to have discovered this Kobe model. The sleek curve is beautiful and also helps prevent cabinet doors from hitting what would otherwise have been corner edges on the hood. It's so much more powerful than our microwave/hood combination, and it is not obnoxiously loud. The lighting is fairly good, but I agree with another reviewer that lighting in the back would be nice. We installed this ourselves and it was a HUGE ordeal. We had to ditch the instructions and come up with our own method completely. But it was worth it!

Beautiful, quiet, but may require some cabinetry modification!
The media could not be loaded. I brought this vent to replace a bulky OTR microwave I had in the house. We already had a small counter microwave for the kids to warm and make popcorn, so I don't need this OTR microwave taking up space. I was also replacing this electric stove with a a new gas stove and I needed more clearance room that a vent hood would provide for a gas stove. I was also told from an appliance salesperson for a gas stove, I needed a vent that has at least 400 CFM for a gas stove. This Kobe vent states that it is a 680 CFM, so that works for my needs. You can see in my photos what the microwave and stove looked like in my kitchen before and what it looks like when the hood was installed. You can see the space in-between is HUGE and perfect for a gas stove or any stove. The only thing I would warn buyers who want to do the same thing is that depending on where you want the hood to be installed and if you have cabinetry or not, you may need to do some adjustments. I noticed in some photos of other Amazon buyers the electric box was either located or moved to the side and not on top like mine came with. Not sure if that is a modification or a different hood. I would have liked that because that electric box on top of the box was a bit hard to get the vent on with my duct work and cabinets. The box has a 6" opening. My existing had a 7inch duct reducer with a elbow. We needed to replace the old 90 degree elbow ducting in order to get the best suction and to fit the electric box inside my cabinet. We realizes that we had to take the old ducting out completely, which required us to remove the cabinetry "chimney" to get to that duct work and have the new duct reducer go straight out of the new "chimney" duct so that the vent draws straight up and out.I don't know if a handyman is needed but it did take my husband all day to redo the ducting and installed the hood. If you are handy and have some patience you can probably get your husband to do it too. (LOL). If possible, I would have just removed that cabinetry portion completely and just have the vent go straight up with a nice hood extension instead of dealing with the cabinetry modification. After a day of work, the vent is installed and my over the stove cabinetry is back in place. I am happy with my Kobe vent look, strength and sound and can't wait to install my new gas stove there so they would match.

Looks like someone tried to install the one I got
I assume we got one somebody sent back. It's scratched up the wires look like somebody had tried to install it. Not happy.

Beautiful but wimpy
Just had this installed. Fairly difficult. Cabinet was 11" deep and this is 12, so cabinet had to be removed and a fake stainless chimney had to be installed over motor. Measure inside of your cabinet carefully before purchase. It's very hard to believe the cfm is what they claim. Barely even pulls a feather or half sheet of paper towel from 4"- Yes, I tested. I have a Kobe in a different location that claims about 900 cfm and it will pull the hair off your head- and it's vent to the outside is a lot taller and it's another 3" above stove top. Love it. A little loud, but..my neighbors can smell when I cook bacon. =) It was made in Japan. This model made in Taiwan and has only one motor between the two baffles. It seems the baffles are even interfere with it's ability to pull steam/smoke....they look almost solid with small slits for suction to pull through. Curse the day they have to be washed.Overall, I think it's to expensive for performance. Like another honest reviewer said, just turn it on a few minutes before you need it to exhaust steam or smoke.Amazon's delivery was excellent and fast. We had ordered the same one from HomeDepot and not only did it take two weeks to arrive, HomeDepot sent it back on day 6 when we had 7 days to pick up, then it was out of stock. OK...I'm done venting =)

EXACTLY what I wanted and NEEDED!!
I had a big 'ol microwave in this space and it was always in my face and I couldn't even see the back burners (I'm 6'2" tall). After living with a microwave in my face for 23 years, I finally replaced it with this awesome exhaust fan/hood from KOBE. I searched for a while before settling on this one, did my research and glad I did. It fit perfectly in my 30" wide space with very minor modification required to existing cabinetry. It is high quality and the exhaust is awesome. Even on the quiet, lowest setting it will hold a paper towel firmly against it (see picture) The 2 lights are bright and nicely placed. I do wish it had 2 additional lights in the rear of the unit though but because the filters are there, there isn't room. I like a lot of light when I'm cooking, so I just purchased an LED magnetic, rechargeable strip light ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08D68VP82/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) that attaches to the exhaust filter panels (shown in last picture). The filters are very sturdy and super easy to remove, clean and replace.

Mixed feelings
Replaced an OTR microwave. It was a challenge to find a vent hood that satisfied my tall husband’s need for one with no sharp corners and minimal projection with my requirement of over 600cfm and quiet. This fit the bill on paper.Looks: fantastic.Function is just ok. Kobe’s website indicates 1 sone on Quiet, which is equivalent to 28dB. My measurements are around 55dB (60dB on Low and 65dB on High), so that’s disappointing since I was expecting Quiet to be whisper quiet (55dB is around 6 sones). Also, because it doesn’t project out as much as other hoods, it doesn’t capture everything going on with the front burners, which is a trade off of the profile. In order to better clear the air of particularly aromatic foods, I need to run it on high for some time after cooking is done. Love that I can remove the vent covers and pop them in the dishwasher. The lighting is great and I don’t have any issues with illuminating the back burners.Installation: challenging. This wasn’t plug and play and I expect many will need to do some type of modification to existing cabinetry - even though we measured carefully before purchasing we had to remove a shelf to make it fit. Also, you’ll need a vacuum close by as the packing styrofoam they use shreds and goes everywhere!Overall it’s better than what we had before but it isn’t amazing as I was hoping it’d be.P.s.: don’t forget to remove the protective film on the vent covers.

Visually Lovely, Mechanically Not So Much
This is an expensive hood fan. I expect better quality. On/off switches are tinny, cheap and poorly placed. Our fan has a very noticeable speed wobble on medium speed although very smooth and quiet on low and high speeds. Manufacturer neglected to point out that the only way to stabilize the unit is to remove the filters, drill holes through the top and fasten to the cupboard with bolts. Of course, once that is done, there is no sending it back if for instance the medium speed sounds like a helicopter spiralling downward. Admittedly, it is very attractive and its slim profile is a standout. Hence, the two stars, but very disappointing from a mechanical standpoint.
