Absolutely Superb
Update (2026): I've been using this scythe now for 2 years and it's still going as strong and working as well as it was when I bought it. Having used it many, many times I'm still lost for words at how much serious overgrowth, brambles and other stuff this tool clears in almost no time at all. I've tried other blades out of curiosity, including Oregon, but I always return to the original 3 toothed blade supplied with the scythe. It cuts everything and leaves nothing behind, it's like the largest brambles bushes I've ever seen were never there by the time it's done. It mulches stuff down incredibly well and I can get right down to ground level with it. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your viewpoint, our front and rear gardens are seriously massive and I have had decades of brambles to clear and now regularly need to stay on top of things. It's easy with this. No messing about with petrol, blocked fuel lines, days spent not doing anything waiting for repairs - just charge up and you're off. I can honestly say with my hand on my heart that if I ever damage this tool, or it simply gives up and stops working, I'd order a new one from Amazon instantly. Just to add that I now have loads of Einhell gear including chainsaws, strimmer, mower, drills, drivers, circular saws etc etc. Einhell don't pay me anything, they've never given me anything and they've never asked me to write a review or to comment. I'm just a normal customer spending my own cash on the gear I need and I've no regrets at all on choosing this brand. I've now got 2 more 4 Ahr batteries and I've wall mounted 2 Einhell chargers. By the time the first batteries are giving up the others are already charged and waiting to go. I hated gardening but I can at least now tolerate it and it's seriously good fun watching brambles disappear. I hope this is helpful. Original (2024): I own the Einhell 36v cordless lawnmower and the 36v cordless hedge trimmer. I bought these myself and I absolutely love them. I've had no gifts, backhanders or payback from Einhell for my reviews, this is my honest opinion having paid my hard earned cash out for them. We recently moved house and have taken the leap from having a small patch of lawn to having what I would describe as a fairly big garden. Having always used petrol power tools we wanted a bit of a change. Not an eco warrior thing, but because the petrol mower and strimmer were a real pain. Constant maintainance, filling with petrol and general time wasted keeping them running. I was worried that the cordless stuff wouldn't have the 'oomph' needed but I was way off mark. This brushcutter/scyth is seriously good. It was a doddle to put together, slotted in a couple of 18v batteries (we got them with the lawnmower) and I was off. Within an hour with the blade attached I'd cleared a sizeable area of patio and garden border that were completely overgrown with thick weeds and more brambles than I'd ever seen. It powered through them easily. We couldn't beleive the amount we achieved in such a short time with loads of power still left in the batteries. At no time did the machine struggle or the blades 'jam'. The tool sliced through the thickest brambles with not trouble at all. The machine itself is a substantial piece of kit. It feels strong and robust and has a satisfying weight to it. It's not too heavy, but heavy enough to give me a sense of confidence that it'll do a great job. I felt a bit of a prawn using the included shoulder harness, but in all honesty it's essential. The harness is completely adjustable to ensure that you get a good balance. In a short time I had the strimmer balanced perfectly so I was able to scyth through bramble bushes that were 6' high. Try doing that with a petrol machine! I can genuinely say that I'll never reach for my petrol tools ever again. A 30 to 40 min charge and the batteries are good to go for another hour or so reckless weed and bramble slaying. This machine is more fun than I could ever imagine and I hate gardening!! One thing I would add is that you should ALWAYS wear safety equipment when using a tool such as this. I always wear safety glasses but still had the occasional twig hitting my face so my very next purchase will be a full face cover. I can't recommend Einhell gear enough. For the money I paid these machines are oustanding. I will be purchasing an extra pair of the 4.0AH batteries at some point, but to be fair the charging time is quick and gives me a break to tidy up. All in all I'm delighted with these tools. My wife LOVES the lawnmower. No messy petrol, tons of power, quick and easy to get going. Highly recommended.

A very effective, if heavy, tool
Unfortunately, the first one I received didn't work, but I received a replacement within two days and it comes with a 2-year warranty. The brush cutter is straight forward to assemble and the spindle stop makes easy work when changing the heads to prevent the motor spindle from rotating. It feels sturdy but it is heavy, as other reviewers have stated. Even with the harness I found my right arm was taking a lot of weight and it ached for a couple of days afterwards. In terms of performance, the brush blade was very effective on my overgrown lawn, taking down thick brambles and woody weed stems. The strimmer head is pretty effective too - having come from a Stihl auto feed head, the Einhell version wasn't quite as efficient as you had to stop and press the feed button yourself, rather than bouncing the head on the ground to feed out more line, but the single filament was easier to extract when the line broke and retracted into the head, than juggling the twin feed of the Stihl. Battery life was OK with a pair of 2.5aH batteries (about 20 minutes) and they charge up pretty quickly too. I cleared a 36sqm plot in two charges (brush-cutting and strimming).

Good piece of kit using brushcutter
Assembly instructions would be nice to ensure that it is assembled correctly and safely. It's is fairly quite whilst in use which is a bonus. So far I have only used it with strimmer wire and it seems OK, but the bump and feed system is utterly hopeless, it doesn't seem to work. Even though there were no assembly instructions it was fairly easy to put together, but as I said earlier, knowing that it's done safely would erase doubts. It does seem a robust machine, so as to the quality I give it top marks. In a couple of days I will be using the brush cutter and I will add to the review then. Edit. Just used brush cutter and it's excellent, it really cut through some heavy duty Bush mainly brambles very well. it's a bit heavy, but that may be due to me not having harness set correctly. Battery lasted about 30 minutes on full power, but I was able to get a lot done. It takes two batteries before it runs, so ensure you buy the battery starter kit. I am pleased with it.

Very happy
Superb piece of kit, well packaged not a lot of extra cardboard , other than the usual Amazon packaging. Very sturdy and easy to put together within 5 minutes we were cutting the brush, it is plenty powerfull very nicely balanced with the pivit clip on your hip, doesn't feel too heavy. Batteries lasted a good solid hour with the blade cutting some pretty heavy gorse and bracken on some very hilly ground and took about an hour to fully recharge the batteries. Great product competitive price and super functional but a small machine for storage but you can break it down pretty easily if you need to reduce size. Very happy with it

A top quality item
Top quality item. Very long and quite heavy but comes with a good quality harness. Fairly easy to put together and the changeable metal blade with the traditional nylon line is a real bonus. I would highly recommend this item

Compatibility issues - Serious flaw.
On the one hand this is a great bit of kit if you use it with flat blades that can merely be reversed. If that’s your intended use, you’ll not be disappointed. It’s got a lot of power and in the space of 30 minutes or so I was able to carve a 40ft path through brambles on the bottom 1/2 acre of my garden which I haven’t explored in the 2 years we’ve been in this house. On the face of it sounds very impressive and it is compared to a machete or loppers. I have been watching reviews for the Oregon Mulching Blade that has blades which curve downwards and mulch the much larger cuttings into much smaller pieces which takes it up a notch but alas that’s as far as I could explore. For reasons I can only assume are financial in nature they are incompatible with this machine due to the fact the blade rotates in the opposite direction and Oregon only machines a bladed edge for 99.99% of manufacturers that opted to all stick with the same specifications. This is utter madness and sadly loses it some stars. I’m disappointed as I had started to buy more Einhell cordless kit with the aim of moving away from petrol tools and also that Einhell have not bothered in any literature to make it obvious on this specification as it would have saved time. This flaw only came to light after fitting the Oregon blade as it really isn’t obvious while you are putting it all together that this is the case. The supplied blade has a layer of paint protecting it and so I would recommend sharpening it before use. The next gripe I had was with the harness and the instructions. The instructions are largely useless and the video is of little use either where the harness is concerned. Luckily the rest of the construction is fairly straightforward. Once you have persevered with it for a while it all holds together pretty well. The tool needs adjusting on the strap clamp to have it so the tool is comfortable and can be manoeuvred easily. The weight distribution needs to be such that all low level work is easily done and this needs a different setup for each individual so not something that will be right out of the box. On a plus note I didn’t feel that tired using this given the harness and an optimal setup. Even using it to level brambles at 6ft . Battery usage also was excellent.

Excellent for an electric strimmer
Similar to a few others I was a bit hesitant to spend money on a battery powered strimmer, having always used petrol ones up to now. But having grown tired of mixing fuel, storing fuel, spark plugs, carburettors etc I thought I'd give this a go, and I'm glad I did. With the blade fitted it is really good, easily hacking through thick brambles and saplings with barely a hiccup. The grass strimmer is not quite as excellent, and the difference between this and a petrol is more noticeable, but it's still good enough for everything except the thickest grass clumps, which do need two or three gos. The bump feed is a bit hit and miss, but that's been true for pretty much every strimmer I've ever owned. On the plus side it's so much quieter than a petrol strimmer, and with much less vibration, and of course starts with the push of a button! I've found the two 3 amp batteries last about 90 minutes, which is fine for me as they charge up again in 60 minutes. in terms of putting it together it was simple, I didn't need to look at the instructions once. Lastly, some have mentioned the strap being awkward, but with a little bit of thought and taking a little bit of time to get it adjusted correctly I found it worked well, supporting the weight of the strimmer comfortably and at the correct angle for easy use. So all in all really good, any doubts I had about battery power have proved groundless, and so far it's proved to be every bit as good as a petrol strimmer, but with much less hassle. I'm looking at the Einhell chainsaw and leaf blower now since the batteries are interchangeable!

OK product let down by incoherent manual and non-existent after sales support
Product works fine Frustratingly, while the poorly written manual recommends that the M10 hex nut used to secure the blades to the tool be replaced after every use, no replacements are provided with the tool. Have now spent the best part of E30 on buying nuts from not only Amazo, but also Wards and Screwfix - none of which fit. Aside from a nice lady at Einhaell UK who passed my issue onto customer service in Germany, have had little or no assistance from their end. Very, very disappointed and would not recommend to other potential buyers as a result.
