Marathon by Timex Full-Size Watch

Great watch!
I've only had the watch for a week. It's easy to read, easy to program, and based on my past experience with Timex, I expect it to last for years with an only an occasional battery change that you can perform yourself with the aid of a small screwdriver. Great watch at a great price. The only downside is the band. I don't remember being offered an option for band sizes. The one that came on mine is adjusted out to the last hole, and my wrists aren't that big. Those with larger wrists may have to buy a bigger band.

Comfortable. Works well. Band failed after two years. For the price, and comfort, I still recommend it.
This is the first watch I have every purchased that is so comfortable that I forget that I have it on. Excellent quality. Easy to read - for a near-sighted old dude like me.-------------------------The review above was writen in Dec 2012. It is January, 2015. The band - which was the most comfortable watch band I have ever owned - is now split, across the point where the buckle holds it, and pinches my skin - but this was not evident until a couple of weeks ago. The chrome-colored face ring has fallen off - just several days ago. The clock, as you would expect from a Timex, still works flawlessly. I am going to turn it into a watch on a fob and affix it to my backpack. I will be ordering another to replace it on my wrist. For the price, and the comfort, why not. Keeping the five stars. The new edition is now called the "Timex Men's T5K680 1440 Sports Digital" ...and I'm going to buy it.

Inexpensive, readable, but not long-lasting
I just bought my third Timex Marathon watch. Each of the first two lasted about two years. The Achilles heel has been the resin strap. For a general-purpose wristwatch, though, I love it, despite the planned obsolescence. I can read it without donning my reading glasses. It keeps reasonably good time (seems to lose 30 seconds or so per month). Since I can replace it for the cost of a battery and wrist ban, I feel free to wear it doing routine fix-up jobs, cycling or hiking the planet, or doing much of anything else.

Great little watch
For the price that I got this watch for ($13) I just wanted a cheap watch with the time and a stopwatch mode to keep track of my run times. I mark them into a spreadsheet afterwards, so I don't bother with GPS watches and heart rate monitors on a watch etc - and if I expected those features, I would expect to pay in the hundreds of dollars. This is a very nice, light, seemingly durable watch to go running with. One thing of note (took me a while to realize) that when in stopwatch mode, under 30 minutes, you can see the milliseconds, but when the stop watch hits 30 minutes, everything "shifts" over one slot, so you can see the hours, but no longer see the milliseconds. Freaked me out a bit because when you're looking down and seeing the milliseconds tick by, and then look down and they're not - it gives the impression that the watch has stopped, but it hasn't.

Good.. not great. Worth the money though.
I bought this watch for my wife for the easy-to-read aspect, but I neglected to research all of the functions (or lack thereof). It's not the watches fault and I'm not going to rate it down based on that.. but there are some areas it could improve in.You really can't beat the price on this watch and it does wear pretty comfortably. One thing to note is that it does NOT have a countdown or interval timer and all you really get out of this watch is the time (and a secondary time). Of course it has a stopwatch but there is really nothing fancy about it. I also find the contrast of the background to the digital display to be a little lacking. The big face of the watch and the bigger numbers, along with good contrast should all support an easy-to-read feel.. but I find that having the darker contrast makes seeing the numbers a little more difficult and I find myself staring at it a little longer than a quick glance. I would not recommend this watch for mult-sport use due to the lack of a lap timer and an interval or countdown timer... but I would recommend it for just regular time usage. At the price it's really hard to knock it too hard, and the quality of the plastic is good enough that it would go undetected as an el-cheapo.If you are looking for a real dependable multi-function watch I would go with the Timex ironman. I use this watch for just about everything, and aside for my dislike of the little rubber retention piece that holds the band, I love this watch.http://www.amazon.com/Timex-T5E231-Ironman-Traditional-Watch/dp/B00093CZV0/ref=sr_1_27?ie=UTF8&qid=1444410714&sr=8-27&keywords=Timex+countdown+timer

Nice inexpensive watch
Its a nice inexpensive watch that meets my demands. If I break this one I will not feel bad about replacing it because it is affordable. It keeps time and easy to see at night with its night light. I also like the calendar on it and the timer. I would buy this watch again without any 2nd thoughts. Update: I just wish the wrist band would last more than a year. It would be nice if they put a leather wrist band on the watch instead of a plastic wristband.

*****Zero Stars***** I originally said it works acceptably well but now give it zero stars
It's a "bog standard" timepiece that I can wear in the shower and gets the job done for an acceptable price and it isn't ugly. What more can you ask at $15 or so?But... The damned watch band broke on 12 August, 2021, 1 year and 1 day after I bought the watch, so not even a year of actual use. There's even a second break showing in the band, that would lead to a second break. And there is no way to replace the band. ZERO stars.Customer service said I had to send the watch in for replacement and it would cost $20 + tax. This is more than what the watch actually cost. When I indicated my displeasure, customer service literally hung up on me.I used no profanity. I merely said I would be talking to amazon and writing letters to consumer agencies about Timex. And then they hung up. Zero stars for the watch; zero starts for customer service; and zero stars for the company.

Good water resistant watch for active lifestyle
I have always liked Timex Marathon watches. They are quite durable for my active lifestyle. I take this watch to go swimming for months and have no issues with it, even when I press the buttons under water. There is an alarm function as well as chrono function. There is a second clock. I just wish it had a timer function as well. Some minor issues I have with this watch are: when I press any of the buttons it makes a beep sound and it cannot be turned off which can be annoying in a quiet office setting or in the library. Also, it's very easy to accidentally brush against the buttons and it makes an unintentional beep sound. But overall, I'm happy with my purchase. The watch is well made with good quality materials and I like the large display.

Practical and user friendly
An excellent value for money watch. Large dial face makes it easy to tell time and date.
