It was one set (2 panels), 29 3/4" wide.

Are these doors "finished" or do they need stained?

They need staining. Be sure to use a sealant and finish with a fine steel wool. Good doors.

If I use these bifold doors as man cave doors will it block the sound out from going into the living room?

I have my bifold doors on my entry to my laundry room and I can tell you that it doesn't block the sound of my washer and dryer, ,,but I would say that it would probably muffle any noise. Hope that helps you.

A set of doors is 35-11/16". A 36" finished opening would probably be OK, but tight. I would give it a bit more clearance, if possible. I have a double set of doors in a 72-3/4" finished opening, which is probably a bit more than necessary, but it looks fine.
