Gale Force Nine 1 X Winter/Dead Static Grass Round GF9

The color is a lot lighter than pictured. It is also deceptively pictured, the amount is very small, the container is a little bigger than a tin of chew. It arrived in a bubble padded envelope and the cover on the container was broken, with the static grass loose inside. Lost most of the product on the floor. Cover is hard plastic and broke in half with a flimsy band of wrap holding the two halves together was also broke.

While the description clearly says it is only 2.5” in diameter by 1.5” high, for some reason from the picture on the website, I imagined it being bigger. The disk I received wasn’t big enough for even a label to be put on it. You can see in my picture I put it next to a small superglue bottle. While the grass was good quality and as described, I gave it four stars because the amount will only cover maybe a 9” x 9” area sparsely.

I got this for basing 40k figures, in an attempt to find a slightly cheaper version than those available from citadel. Its very fine, has potential, but i found it tends to clump somewhat unnaturally. If you are seeing those beautiful tufts of dead grass in GW photos and want them, I think you will have to go with the citadel product, which is already in tufts that are removed from sprues. But this definitely beats the spongy-foam grass you find at most hobby shops.

I constructed my own static grass applicator from videos on the web and purchased this static grass to try it out.The grass looks fantastic on my HO scale layout. The difference between ground foam and static grass is amazing. This 'Gale Focre Nine' static grasss is lableled as 'Winter/Dead' but is very good to 'tone down' other grasses which may be too green. A 50% mix with other greener grasses produces a nice natural looking grass.The price was good and the product arrived very quickly.

Was slightly differently colored than the picture, likely due to photography issues. While this is ok for my purposes, this static grass is a bit "greener" than I expected for "dead" static grass. Keep this in mind when purchasing!

Not as much as I was hoping for and the color is a bit more lively than expected... We'll see how it looks when applied.

Im Gegensatz zu einigen anderen Modellbaugräsern macht das Gras hier einen realistischeren Eindruck als die mit farbigen Fasern versetzten Varianten oder die Beflockung. Dafür kann man natürlich keine blühende Sommerwiese auf die Platte zaubern.Wenn man bereit ist dieses in Kauf zu nehmen ist das Winter/Dead Static Grass eine gute Alternative.

You get plenty for what you pay for.
