I can't manage to keep tiny sugar ants out of my old house, so I needed a solution to at least keep them from swarming the cat dish. I've been pleased with how well this bowl keeps them out. The bottom of the bowl is too much of a maze for their tiny ant brains to figure out, so they're stuck waiting for the cat to drop crumbs outside the dish. The only time they've managed to find a way into the bowl was when I accidentally dropped an ant into it. On its way out, the ant charted a path for the others to follow back in. Luckily, washing the bowl was enough to clear away the ant tracks, and thankfully without a scent to follow they weren't able to figure it out again. Maybe the ants will get smarter over time, but for now this is a great low-tech, affordable, effective solution.

FINALLY!!! This bowl works perfectly against our Argentine ant army. After years of using moats, and other water devices, this one actually works. And the best part, no water! Purchased two of these "ant-proof" bowls in hopes of saving on my cat food bill. Put the bowls out last night and this morning they were covered in ants. You can take a big plant water tray and glue a smaller water tray in it, then fill the smaller one with pet food and the bigger one with water, ants cannot get in it. It can get messy but it works!

I love these bowls! Here in Southern California, we have ant issues. Cute little tiny sugar ants that get into anything and everything, regardless of your prevention tactics! I have tried bait, sprays and glue traps, none of that prevented my cats food from crawling with critters within an hour of feeding. Even worse was the issue of the ants falling into his water dish and going for a swim! These bowls (I purchased 2) have prevented the unwanted assaults of the ant army upon my fur-balls foodstuffs! The do not even know the food is there... and we love it! I can feed him in peace without worrying that his food is being contaminated by ant bodies! The ants have yet to figure out a way to get past the upside down portion of the bowl, which means... Pops the cat can eat happily without the extra protein/other stuffs that the ants bring! I would highly recommend these bowls for anyone who has issues with ants trying to take over their pets food!

I have a stray cat I feed outside and this works amazing on a flat surface to keep the ants out of his food. It's very easy to clean and has a grippy bottom to keep from sliding. I wish I had bought more than one.

I leave dry cat food out for a couple of the stray cats. It was always throwing out the leftovers because those ants were all over the food. I sure didn't want to bring them back inside the house or garage. Anyway, this crazy dish actually works! No ants. It doesn't keep the crows away but at least the boys (strays) don't have to fight with the ants for the food. I am purchasing another dish because, like most strays, they don't share.

These worked well for a while, but ants are very crafty. It only took them about a week or more to devise away to reach the outer rim using the backs of other ants. If the outer rims were a little higher from the ground then they might be ant-proof, but as they are they are only ant-resistant. What worked best for me is the use of 8 inch stainless steel cake pans. I simply put about a third of an inch of water in the bottom of the pan, and then put a cat or dog food bowl in the center of the cake pan. It works even better if you use a slip resistant cat or dog food bowl to keep the bowl from sliding to the edge of the cake pan. Ants will not cross water to get to the cat or dog food bowls.

I bought this dish to keep the ants away from my cat's food dish. It works wonderfully! The ants can't climb up the side so they left! I'm very pleased with this product so far and would recommend it to keep ants out of and away from pets' food dishes.
