Love this grinder
I've had the grinder for a few months now and I still get so happy every time I use it. I miss it when I'm dining out, and almost packed it for traveling over the holidays. Yeah, I sort of love pepper, what can I say!Pros:* Feels great in the hand, very sturdy and durable* Easy to fill, easier to use -- I could see this being a kind nonelectric grinder for people with arthritis due to the mill's smooth grinding, easy-to-grip turning base, and (relatively large) quantity of pepper grinded per turn.* No, seriously, this thing spits out pepper like you wouldn't believe. Using the cheapo plastic supermarket grinders is an ordeal (especially with wet or damp hands!) and this is such a delight. Covers a roast or steak in just a few twists.* Easy to adjust grind size; I would possibly agree that 3 variations would be sufficient since there isn't too much of a notable difference in the 2 and 4 compared to their neighbors, but I won't complain about more options either!* I appreciate that it has a partially clear body so you know at a glance when to refill.* Kitchen workhorse that also looks good enough to use for table service.Cons:* I've seen some reviews complain that the fine grinding isn't fine enough for their tastes. I could see that as a fair point, but I wonder how many of those people are familiar with freshly-ground vs. factory pre-ground? It's plenty fine enough for me.* I was happy enough with the grinder that I purchased the matching salt grinder within a couple of weeks. In retrospect, I could've saved some cash by buying the set (20% less expensive at the time of writing) vs. each piece separately. I don't know if you can call this a con though, just a lack of faith/foresight on my part. If you're thinking you might eventually want both, then do it all at once -- you won't regret it.

A Flexible Grinder Well Suited to the Home Kitchen
I first encountered this grinder while I was taking a cooking class. I'm a novice cook and would say that I give my cooking gear moderate-to-heavy use these days. I can say that the cooking school where I took my class is always packed so they get very heavy use there, from students of varying skill levels. Before this mill, I had been used to the usual wooden style grinders where you turn the cap to grind your pepper. The OXO grinder is very easy to use and does not take much strength to turn the mill, which I would say makes it well suited to cooks who don't have a strong grip. The mill itself has a rubberized grip, making it easy to use if your hands happen to be slick from other cooking activities. It also makes it easy to clean. The grinder stores base down. The base, where you twist the mill, is wider then the top, where the pepper is dispensed, so it's pretty stable on the counter if you need to put it down. Although mine hasn't taken a tumble onto our tile floor yet, a couple of them did fall during my cooking class and they survived each time unscathed. One of the features I like about this grinder is the grind coarseness selector. There are five different coarseness settings from fine, where I tend to keep it, to coarse, which I've used for some specific recipes. The labeling of these settings uses dots, small to large, which I find intuitive. I'm not sure how the labels are actually inscribed onto the mill although it looks like they might be etched. If so, then that's a good thing since you don't need to worry about the labels wearing off over time. The coarseness selector is easy to move when you want to, but is stiff enough that it's unlikely to move by itself or through accidental jostling. The grinder has a good-sized capacity, although I haven't tried to figure out exactly what it is. At the base of the unit is a plastic screw-on cap that grants you access to the pepper supply. The unit arrives full, and it's easy to add more -- simply unscrew the base cap, add your peppercorns, and then screw the cap back in. The cap twists in about three turns, so it's secure. It's possible that folks with weak fingers might find it difficult to untwist that cap, but I can't say for certain. I prefer this style to those with the pop-out rubber cap -- I've had those come out unexpectedly on me a few too many times to be comfortable with them. All in all this pepper mill has been a pleasure to use both in and out of class. I'm hopeful that it will give me many more years of use.

Good grinder but not quite perfect
The OXO Good Grips is the fourth pepper grinder I've purchased in the past several years. Perhaps my expectations are too high but my needs are: grind peppercorns easily; grind in a range of sizes from fine to "nearly cracked pepper"; adjust easily; hold a large amount of peppercorns; be durable (this means it needs to last more than just a few months of daily use); and it would be nice if it looked good on the table as well as on the counter and, personal preference, operate with a crank. Well, so far I have not found the "perfect grinder" but this one is close. It grinds easily and grinds through a full range of sizes -- for a change, "coarse" is actually too coarse to go through a pepper shaker. The adjustable ring makes adjustment easy but you do sometimes need to try a size to make sure it is what you had in mind. It holds a modest amount of peppercorns. Disclaimer: we use a lot of pepper as seasoning and use almost exclusively freshly ground pepper -- for us, this grinder holds three to four weeks supply. OK, but more would be better. It is easily filled: remove the screw cap--something that was redesigned from the earliest models of this grinder. Durability seems to be satisfactory -- we use it regularly (read "daily" here) for the last five months and there have been no problems. As far as aesthetics -- its OK, not as striking as the Atlas copper or brass mills, but not displeasing. It does not have a crank. It operates by a twist of the black plastic top (which appears as the bottom in most pictures). Ground pepper comes out of the silver end. Not a deal breaker, just not my "ideal grinder".All in all, I like it. I use it daily. It works well. I bought several more for gifts to other cooks I know. However I am still looking for the perfect grinder.

Easy to use, no mess grinder
My previous pepper grinder was too difficult for my aging hands to operate and there were always pepper crumbs in the dish that housed it.This is, once again, a quality OXO Goodgrips product. It is easy to fill, use and does not stand on the grinding mechanism so…no mess.Dialing the grind size is easy and the exterior needs only a wet cloth to keep it clean.Extremely satisfied !!

Quality product!
We are very impressed with this salt grinder. We have always used Kosher salt in a shaker with large holes for cooking, but the texture is a little course for a finishing salt. We were visiting our daughter recently, and she was using sea salt in a grinder. We really liked it, and decided to order the Oxo salt grinder since we have the Oxo pepper grinder and really like it. We are very happy with our purchase. The grind is perfect for sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, salads or anything you want to finish with salt. It comes loaded with salt, and I made sure I bought the same texture of sea salt for when it needs refilled. We love that the grinder opening for both the salt and pepper grinder is on top; No more mess on the counter! Looks nice sitting out in my kitchen.

Oxo products always good
Excellent pepper mill. Easy to fill, easy to use. Very helpful ability to alter the texture of the pepper corns e.g. can be very fine to much coarser. Looks good to us and would buy Oxo any time. They maintain a high standard of finish

Enfin un poivrier qui tient la route 😁
Facile à utiliser, semble plus costaud que mes Peugeot qui ne n'arrivent plus à moudre après 1 an d'utilisation.
