Do I need to disconnect while driving?

You don't need to disconnect. Our solar panel has overcharge protection circuitry built into the panel, prevent reverse charging.

Can solar panel charge car battery through a cigarette lighter when the car is off?

Most cars can be charged with a cigarette lighter when the engine is turned off. When it is found that the cigarette lighter can not be used to recharge the battery. You can use alligator clips and cables to connect directly to the battery.

How to know if the solar panel charger is working?

In full sunlight, the solar panel shows a red light. Connect the battery, and turn green. If there are no lights, check the polarity.
