Works fantastic and it's fun to use!
This is the best device I've used to rehab my hand/wrist. I've had 2 surgeries for an injury which included a trapeziectomy with LRTI, vein ligation, median and radial branch nerve excision and burial, median nerve entrapment release, palmar tendon release, and scar tissue removal. Recently my therapist told my dr I was coming to the end of therapy being beneficial. I didn't accept that and knew there was still more work to be done. Luckily, my husband had been through work hardening for a back injury many years ago and had paid attention to what other pts were doing! He talked to me about what he'd seen and I immediately started searching for the devices he talked about.I felt a difference in my ROM, strength, and pain level after the first day of use. Today is day 4 and I couldn't be more excited about the results so far! I bought flexbars, putty, and a web but feel this spinner has been the most helpful and it's really fun to use. After trying this spinner and seeing how beneficial it was I bought my boys who are in jiu jitsu one each to help with their grip strength. I gave one to my daughter in-law to help her strength but also her anxiety. I bought a 5th one for my trucker husband to add to his dumbell exercises on the truck. This is such a great device!

Good for what it is - buy the right model
For what it is and the price, it's 5 stars. I was playing with a friend's auto start model and figured I'd try this one. I didn't realize there were differences in models, so pay attention when ordering. I have no problem starting this with the cord, but also started the auto start on the first time...which some people struggle with so if think it'll be tough to start, get the other model.I can barely do a minute at a fast speed, so looking forward to working my way up. I've had wrist issues in the past and spend all day on the computer, so this should help strengthen weak muscles.

It really, REALLY WORKS!
I bought mines during a lightning deal. I saw how many people were buying it and looked at the great ratings, so I said to myself "Heck, why not?" I ordered it. When it finally got my hands on it I gave it a few tries... I immediately thought about returning it since I couldn't keep it spinning for more than 10 seconds. I almost threw it to the side, but I decided to give it one more shot. All these glowing reviews you read here cannot be wrong! So I gave it another try.I freaked out a bit at how long I got it spinning using lots of action from my hand and wrist. I started rotating my wrist faster and in a tighter circle, the ball started to get louder and LOUDER. I originally thought NSD Power made up the claim of "26.8 lb-in of torque at 10,000 RPM." I spun it so fast that I started to lose my grip on this thing and it felt like it wanted to fly right out of my hand!It is a challenge to get it up and running at first. TIP: You do NOT have to pull really hard on the string to get it going. You need a good and smooth pull; you do not have to yank on the string. This is just to get it started. Once you start rolling your wrist and follow through with hand motions, you can get it to spin faster and faster. After a few minutes of using it, I can feel my forearms and wrist feel a bit tighter since it got that work out. Now I want to see if I can do the same with my left arm and try to swap the ball between hands while keeping it spinning. It is worth a buy!

!! SURPRISINGLY EFFECTIVE !!
After being on the fence for over a year I ordered it. Surprisingly this thing works. I'm actually experiencing OMS in my forearms and wrists. Deep inside the muscles and I feel as if the tendons are getting more taut. This is a very good soreness. Grip feels firmer too. This will work on the mat AND on the range. Relieved some of the thumb joint soreness too. This is one of those "I should have bought this sooner" items.

Whoa buddy!
I’m a guy, and as such, it’s my prerogative to refuse the instruction manual! Which I promptly did, and opted instead on using my natural talent for common sense. - Warning! - Women may just want to skip reading further, and stick to the manual because what follows will be total gobbledygook to your feeble female minds.I inserted the string into the unit and wound it up. Using a dual thumb technique of “pin” and “rotate”, I was able to wrap the string around the inner wheel. Holding the unit in one hand, and pulling the string quickly - as if it were a ripcord or starter cord, I was able to initiate the inner wheel’s spin. With simple wrist rotation and years of practice with similar grip/wrist motions, I powered through it with abject pride. Although not as satisfying as previous versions of wrist activities, I am satisfied that my forearms will be “Popeye’d” in no time.5/7 - Would recommend again.

Good for Whole Arm
Had this for a few weeks. Never used the string to start it - just roll the inner ball quickly down my leg and spin it up using my wrist. Took a few tries to achieve competency with non-dominant arm. Started using it palm down, close to body to exercise fingers, wrist and forearm. Have added in palm up, palm side, arm straight out in front and to the side, and over head to work different parts of the arm and shoulder.Next purchase might be one with a counter and rpm, but timed usage works very well for now.

You can start it without the string
Used this back in university for strength training as a thrower.. works wonderfully! You can start it without the string!

Pleasantly Surprised
At first I thought this was a bad investment, as I would get the spin going and it wouldn't last 30 seconds I tried spinning my hand like the said but couldn't figure it out until my 10th spin or so where I figured out how get the slight wrist action to keep it moving and make it get faster and faster, I spent about 10 minutes or so with 1 spin and was able to keep it going with ease and could have gone longer if I wanted. The key to it is to keep the ball from bouncing around inside as that's what slows it down, you need to find the rhythm with a slight wrist rotation, that keeps it going. It really gets a nice burn to your forearms. I only wish I had bought the one that shows your numbers so I could see how good I'm doing to try and beat my old scores.I recommend for anyone that wants a good burn in your wrists while doing anything at all. Even when typing this I still feel my whole forearms engaged.

Great fun and good exercise - kids LOVE it too!
This is a super little hand and wrist/forearm strengthener that is remarkably addictive! The unit works gyroscopically and once the rpm's pick up your muscles really have to work hard; a few minutes a day in each hand and I'm already noticing a difference after only a few weeks. The package doesn't come with an exercise routine but we found one online which entails changing directions and hands every 45 seconds and alternating straight arms/bent elbows.Packaging is minimal and easy to recycle- there is a small brochure and two strings that you wind around the wheel to start it spinning. We found if you quickly swipe your hand across the opening you can easily get it started which makes it much more easy to just pick up and use.If you spend hours a day at a keyboard then you should really try this out - it completely fixed my carpal tunnel syndrome! It does however seem to go missing frequently - the kids can't help picking it up and playing with it. It would probably be excellent as a "fiddle" toy for those who would benefit from such things.Highly recommended.

its works great ;)
It spins up pretty rapidly after you get into the proper rhythm with it. The only negative is that it does, at times, seem to have a bit of internal friction that slows the internal gyroscope down a bit, which reduces the ability to get the best possible workout from the device. This developed after only a dozen uses, give or take. Prior to that it ran more smoothly. It isn't enough to eliminate its function, as long as it doesn't get worse. Was this review helpful to you?

Lots of fun and good burn.
There's probably not a lot I can say about this that hasn't been said already. I got this a few days ago and it took me a handful of tries to get it going so I could keep the momentum up. It is a very neat gadget, there is a bit of a learning curve with it.As others have suggested I think it would be nice to have the counter on this as that makes it even more fun being able to track progress or beat records or have competitions with others. I guess I may have to spring for one of the more upgraded models. This is a great gift for anyone that is into going to the gym. It doesn't take much to get the forearms burning using this thing. Can't say much about long term durability on this thing since I just got it but it looks like it is built solidly and likely can take some impacts as it is possible to lose control of this when you get tired and the gyro is going fast.Good value for what it does.

Bueno a secas

I honestly cannot say enough good things about this
I honestly cannot say enough good things about this! I love it! For as simple of a design as this thing is, it is an amazing developmental tool to have. I use it partly for my bodybuilding purposes, and partly for my fighting attributes training, making it a point to use it daily. The learning curve for using it is not as steep as others may suggest (at least it was not for me; rhythm to match the spin was established in a matter of seconds on my first try), and it only gets easier from there. I have gone on so far as to develop a total of four movement patterns for my training sessions, to get the most complete use of the spinner. Looking for a different, and effective way to train? This is the way to go!

Good product, had to buy another as a gift.
For the record I go to the gym two to three times a week. I used this product to refine the smaller muscle groups on my wrists that doesn't get exercised by a more major-muscle wrist exercise I do at the gym. This has done the job (nothing significant that you could actually observe). I didn't expect it to give me hypertrophied wrist and forearm muscles, so I wasn't surprised it didn't do that. I base my results on a better feel whenever I'm lifting and most especially on the faster recovery time on my wrists post-workout.I had to buy another one as a gift for a good friend to try.

Great item, lots of fun
A great workout for wrist strength, you can speed it up slow it down switch hands all while sitting on the couch. It is a little noisy, but it is a great machine. After using this for a little while I would recommend getting a version with a display on it so you can set goals and track any progress. There is a learning curve when using this the instructions are useless, YouTube videos were a much bigger help. The motion of turning a doorknob is how to use it. I didn't think this item would be as much fun to use.

Estupendo
