I bought this leash about 6-7 months ago for my 24-25 lb. puppy (though I guess now she counts as a young dog). I haven't had any issues with this leash so far. The clasp has stayed true. She has chewed on the leather a little bit, but you wouldn't be able to tell. I used Bitter Apple near the clasp to get her to stop trying to chew, and that worked pretty quickly. I could imagine that if you had a much bigger dog that was much more determined to chew on the leash, you might have problems, but I think that that would be the case with any leash if you had such a dog.The leather is very bendable, and when I take my pup to the dog park, I am able to shove the leash in my bag without any problems.It is a 4-ft leash, mind you, so you won't be able to give your dog much slack. However, particularly when you start out training, less slack is a good thing, and a trainer recommended the 4-ft leash to me.

Be aware that this leather from which this lead is made is very thin. It was the only 4" leather Lavien had on Amazon, and one of the very few I had found online. It is exactly half as thick as previous leads I've used for my standard poodle. I consider dosgs of this size to be "medium" size, and I expect that it will only take him a few times carrying his own lead, as he does occasionally while heeling on-lead, and the lead will be will be done for. It's the only 48" leather lead I have now, so I'll keep using it, while looking for a well-done one of heavier leather.

I bought 3 of these leashes for my 3 small dogs- all between 20-28 lbs. One of the previous reviews said it was not strong enough for large medium dogs as it is advertised. I would agree. It would not be strong enough for my lab puppy who is @45 lbs and growing. So you should just market this leash to the smaller dogs. I love the braiding and the size is just right for my small dogs.

I think small dog owners will love this leash. The leather is soft and supple and the packaging was great. I thought it was too thin for my giant breed dog though, so I returned it. Absolutely nothing bad to say about the quality, I just need a thicker leather lead.

We LOVE this leash - it's exactly what we have been looking for, at a much cheaper price than we've been quoted in the past. The length is perfect for our 17lb min pin - it is short enough to give us control, but long enough that he still have a bit of freedom. Lucas is still learning how to be a polite leash walker, and this leash is effective in helping us train him. It's beautifully crafted, and I expect that it will hold up for years to come.

I am very pleased with this leash. I use it for training my 65 pound Standard Poodle. Easy to fit into one hand while doing Rally or Obedience. Great Quality. Leather is so much better than nylon. No rope burn!

Great leash for my Mobility Dog. Keeps him close without having extra leash to bundle up in my hand. Nice quality leather and stitching.

Love this leash for my 15 pound dog, sturdy enough and not too bulky. Light hardware. Not crazy about the color but that is personal choice.
