4.5
Ill give the 15 year landscape fabric(LF) a 4.5 and trust that in five years I'll still be able to use the same LF. There's not even a small chance (that I believe) it will last 15 years. ...15 years is really a long, long time in gardening. At first I was quite worried because I watered and the water formed drops and pools on the fabric which stayed there, almost the same size, for a DAY! It seems it was just because it was new. Have not had the issue since that first day.I think it is caused by the UV protection spray they add to the fabric. Sadly, since the problem disappeared within a day, I suspect the UV protection is light. As someone else has mentioned, mulch on top of fabric is the only way to make the LF last. I do not do that except during cold periods(early spring and late fall or winter). I mean it's illogical to buy porous material and then block the porosity, but during near freezing temps, esp. in early morning hours, it's more important to have some heat left in the ground ...as long as it does not rain too much. This 15 year landscape fabric(LF) is strong and not flimsy yet I found it easy to cut and place. It laid flat as the surface would allow but there were visible bumps from chunks of dirt, as, IMO, there should have been. I have yanked on it many times to straighten the lay and the corners and it has not torn once(X-my fingers). I sort of expected it to do that at the posts/stakes where the yanking causes the most stress because my 10+ year old LF(now all gone, hence this purchase) would tear but this has has held strong. Will see if same pieces are as good next year ...It is thick enough to block weed growth which is all any landscape fabric(LF) can do. It will not kill grass; the area needs to be dug and all weeds pulled. If weed seeds can blow onto it or be placed on|under it by flooding or other means, it will be a fine patch of Bermuda grass, Crab grass, Johnson Grass, you-pick-your-worst-invasive, within a year or two. This is the way LF works. If one think this needs to be doubled or tripled one needs to use at least 6mil thick black plastic and not LF.I have pulled a few nutgrass, bermuda and other weeds that grew under the fabric but did not get through it. The last stuff I had (from Lowe's) would allow it to grow thru ...in both directions. This, so far, is doing what is expected of it.This 15 year "Landmaster Durable Landscape Fabric" will likely outlive me or at the least my ability to dig and lay a fabric for a garden. If it rots in a few years I'll come back and adjust rating & review. Well, that's the plan( hey, I made God laugh, :-) ).OTHER:I wish they had it in RED and in WHITE. There have been some experiments that show that RED enhances growth/production for some plants(tomato at least) and WHITE is pretty well known to reduce the soil temp and white flies population. [Really, really HOT summers here and this year more white flies than I can control. The plants with white plastic(empty bags) around them have fewer white flies -dunno why, they just do.]

Tissue Thin
I purchased this for a garden plot that gets very weedy and was expecting this to be more "industrial strength". You can literally see through it and it is tissue thin. It rips very easily and to even hope to keep any weeds under control I doubled it up. I would recommend going for the more expensive heavy duty landscape fabric for sure if you don't want to have to replace this every year.

Does not block the sunlight !
I installed this landscape fabric over fresh garden soil. The weeds grew under the fabric so much that you could actually see them. Obviously the weed sprouts were already in the soil BUT the weeds sprouted and prospered even while being totally covered from the start of the season. This thin landscape fabric not only lets the water through but allows enough sunlight through to help the weeds grow !This problem makes the landscape fabric useless in controlling existing or yet to sprout weed control.

Destroyed by sunlight
I used this in a vegetable garden between the rows. Within 3 months the fabric was decomposing and shredding. Apparently sunlight breaks this fabric down. A total waste of time and effort. Because it was deteriorated so badly (1/2 inch squares and dust), it was almost impossible to take up from the garden. Now I have to sift the soil to get rid of it.

A blatant violation of truth in advertising
Not UV protected. It won't last 25 years. 6 months maybe. (maybe it will last longer if it is not directly exposed to sunlight?) Definitely not pro. Unfortunately, by the time I discover these shortcomings, the Amazon return period has already past.

Good landscape cloth
This is just as described. Initial quality seems good. You must put mulch over the top to protect from UV rays or it won't last 5 years like they say . Only about one year. You must buy the much heavier UV resistant fabric for real heavy duty weed control and long life.

Great
Make sure you read the description...I was used to linear feet roll. I believe this is sold as "square feet". I ran short and bought some at home depot which was flimsy. Great product

Doesn't work
The weeds poked right through. I used with pegs and didn't mulch over it, but the weeds just came right through and everything grew under it.( One shouldn't use landscape fabric to plant on top any way, because when the weeds do come through there is no getting rid of them- ask any landscaper). I was using on a bank where I wanted to kill everything under it , take it up and then soil and plant. But it didn't even last a few months. so ripping up the whole mess and will use natural poison to manage weeds.
