Cross King

The Continental Cross King 2.6 is a fantastic tire that delivers great performance on a variety of terrains. It offers superb grip and stability, especially on loose and rocky trails. The tread design provides excellent traction without compromising speed, and I love how confidently it handles both climbs and descents. The 2.6 width gives just the right amount of cushion and control, making rides smoother and more comfortable. It’s also durable and holds up well after many rides. Definitely a great choice if you want a reliable, high-performance tire that can handle aggressive mountain biking. Highly recommended for serious riders!

I have never had a problem with Continental tires, premium quality at a fair price. I installed the tires on tubeless ready DT Swiss LTD 27.5 rims and used WTB premium valve and added Stans sealant . They aired up with a compressor and seated on the bead 1st attempt . I only trust a few brands of tires Continental, maxxis, Schwalbe or WTB.

I bought these tires to replace my stock 27.5x2.6" wide tires on my Stumpjumper and let me say it was a great move. From what I have researched, the 2.8" wide tire rolls and tracks better than the standard 2.6" and less tires on the 27.5" wheel set. I am able to ride at lower pressure which does two things really well. A little less pressure absorbs the small bumps extremely well and makes the bike ride buttery smooth. The lower pressure also increased my traction and overall handling of the bike on rough/loose substrate. The traction pattern on this tire is also something that stands out to me. They roll incredibly well, they are quiet, and they have more than enough traction. I look forward to running these tires all summer and will be interested in how they hold up. From what I understand Continental makes a great tire and upon first impression I agree. I will know more after a few months of riding hard in the Mountains of Idaho.

For the money, hard to beat this tire for general mountain biking. Pros: The narrow center band of knobbies make this tire efficient for everything from street riding up to steep trail inclines. The tire is VERY light and feels VERY tough. Well made. Cons: Terrible in ANY sand or mud. There is a rather large gap between center knobby row and outside knobby row. The result is a "catch" point when leaning on soft terrain. The result is sometimes frightening. I should have went with the Trail Kings for better off road control, but this is still an exceptional tire.

This is a great tire for trail riders that ride to the park. These are great on pavement, roll easy and smooth. I can lean the bike in a corner no issues. The trails I ride are mostly hard pack with loose rocks around. These cross kings have surprisingly good grip in the trails. The tread wears slowly on the street so these tires can last longer than others I tried. There are better tires for off road but for someone who rides both these are really great. I’ve bought 3 now.

It is a mountain bike tyre. Fits on by Specialized 29-inch rim and got me riding again.

I ride rooty, sandy trails with some loose over hard sections, and this works great as a front. Hooked up as well as the old Maxxis Rekon, but the center tread line gives lower rolling resistance. Lots of lateral knob surfaces, well designed tread pattern, and it mounted quickly and easily with just a floor pump, and the tire is round and true. I see no likely issues with longevity, as the tread blocks are designed well and lots of them, the compound seems durable, and the sipes are shallow and angled so as to not cause the knob folding or tearing. Also, my rims are 30mm width and again, the 2.6 mounted easily and the profile is fine. Looking forward to my rides on pavement, with the low RR, and more dirt miles, with the lateral grip.
