Works great, butโฆ
Pretty much plug and play - Connected it and it works great! I am quite confused by the EID setting options so I left the default setting alone and it worked. Only thing though - It has several blue leds on the front and man, they are almost blindingly BRIGHT! No way to turn them off so I had to cover them with a piece of paper. Still, I am very pleased with the purchase! But please note - This is NOT some sort of a port expander that it used with a PC to display different displays from one source as some customers have expected. This is a duplicator - Displays on one or more displays per input.

I bought this HDMI switch because I needed to connect several devices (laptop, console and other devices) to a single TV, and the truth is that it perfectly fulfills what it promises. The installation is super simple: you connect the cables and that's it, it works without configuration. In addition, the remote control makes everything more comfortable because you can change the font without getting up.

Works very well.
I have the output from my receiver (BluRay, media player, Amazon Firestick, etc.) going to this splitter and then to the TVs in the Living Room, Dining Room and Kitchen. It's nice to be able to move from room to room without missing anything.Picture quality is good. It works well for me. Recommended. UPDATE 5/08/25 Just received the third one of these we have had. The first lasted from 2014 to 2022, the second from April 2022 until this month when it started acting up. It would die, but if I unplugged it, and plugged it back in 30 seconds it would work. After the second or third time it would stay on the rest of the day. And one port went out about 6 months ago. I hope that the new one will be as long lived as the first one! Last one cost $28.00 and this one was just under $16, so that is really nice.

What You Need To Know And Understand For Proper Setup
Excellent Product Except For the Instruction Manual with light color extremely small font size and doesnโt tell user what they really need to know and understand for proper setup. Customer Support by Seller is meaningless. See Below For Vital Information. AC Power Supply IN MUST be BOTH plugged into unit AND screwed down with nut. Only Outputs C & D are for less than 4K. MIX 1, 2, and 3 modes are for Downsizing 4K, if necessary. Many non 4K TVs do this automatically and you donโt need to use Mixed Modes. Try First without MIX. The DIP switches are not to determine what is output from this device but to tell Source Device (such as DIRECTV) What video & audio signals to send to Input at the most minimum required level (Stereo TV does not know what to do with Dolby Digital 5.1 signals). Outputs C & D TVs not 5.1 + audio will not play the audio signal, even using HDMI cables, unless mode dip switches are set to stereo. However 4K tvs can remain Dolby Digital (5.1) versus Stereo using Digital Optical cables directly to 4K TV. A Digital Optical Splitter/Extractor (Less than $30) may be required if using a sound bar as an example so as to receive both Audio Outputs from this device and other 4K Sources To your 4K TV. Once you know and use this information to set up product it works great.

So far, it's great!
I used this item for an event recently to distribute various images to various screens. It worked a charm. A few notes: Even if you switch between two active sources, there will be a blue screen in the process of switching. In a dark room with a big screen, this will be almost a blinding light for an audience if switching from a dark source. I did not try the RS232 switching feature. I did not try the remote. However, I ordered this unit for the RS232 switching feature. Perhaps I can update this review after I try both the remote and serial control. The unit looks and feels solid and I enjoyed using it. The metal case is great. I'm looking forward to implementing this unit into a bigger project once I get talking to it with the serial port. ** EDIT 1: DEC 15 2024 ** I just had the same event, new year, and the matrix worked great again. I have the same feedback as I have not tried to operate RS-232 just yet. I would, however, like to offer a constructive criticism to the product design. It would be great to have a screen printed I/O listing on top of the unit at the back; with this information listed under the inputs and outputs on the back, there isn't a good way to see it when trying from the front or above the unit to plug things in. I took some board strip tape and manually labeled it on top, but it would be a great addition to the enclosure design.

OREI HD-401p 4X1 Switch compatible with OREI HD-104 1x4 Splitter
If you have lots of TV monitors and multiple HDMI input devices working over the same HDMI cable, OREI components are what you need to make life easier. I have a Verizon FIOS cable box, Panasonic 3D Blue Ray, and recently added a Roku. I have 3 TVโs all on the same circuit, living room- 52โ Panasonic 1080&3D Plasma, master bedroom Insignia 32โ 720, and old TV in garage. Couple of lengths hit the 25โ mark and clarity is perfect. OREI Splitter is in the attic and splits to all these locations to the TVโs, and withstands the TX heat. In the living room all components are in single cabinet and hook up to the Switch and feed into 1 single HDMI cable that runs into the attic to the Splitter. Donโt be fooled, all Switches and Splitters I found out the hard way are NOT the same. I tried using the Kinivo Switch and it only supported HDCP 1.3 protocol. This did not create the proper EDID HDCP handshake necessary to carry the signal all the way through the Splitter to the monitors for the devices I was using. All Source and Display devices will be different so this switch may not work for you BUT it supports the most protocols Iโve seen in a single device. Do yourself a favor and get this one the first time. OREI supports: HDCP 1.4 protocol compliant 3D HDMI 1.4a video format 4Kx2K@30Hz 1080P@120Hz 1080P 3D@60Hz 3D formats up to a 297MHz TMDS Digital audio DTS-HD/Dolby-true-HD/LPCM 7.1/DTS/Dolby-AC3/DSD Check out this site for detail info on HDCP / HDMI Handshake Troubleshooting: [...] My one Con on this product is that it needs rubber feet. This is easily fixed for ~$2.00 by sticking on some rubber bumpers. My configuration only allows 1 signal to all 3 Monitors at any one time and all can be used simultaneously. If you want to select different inputs on different Monitors then you need to move up a level to a Matrix Switch. I would recommend OREI over all brands because of its flexibility to cover most Source and Display devices.

Bypasses HDCP
If you're trying to record PS3 or PS4 HDMI footage, get this. It will strip out that nasty HDCP that keeps us from recording. It is literally that simple. This even works with Netflix, which deploys HDCP on various non-HDCP devices, like the Xbox 360. If your sole purpose of using this is to bypass HDCP, you can hook it up in one of two ways. 1. Run the console footage to the splitter. Then run an HDMI cord to the capture card, and from the capture card's output into the TV. 2. Run the console footage to the splitter. Then run one HDMI cord to the capture card, and one to the TV. I do it this way because I find it more simple, and you don't have to turn on the capture card to display the footage if you aren't recording. You can also get Orei's 2 port HDMI splitter, but at the time being, that device has been sold out nonstop. Oh, and I also like the on/off switch on this splitter. Other splitters turn on automatically, but I feel like they never work correctly and I'm always having to unplug them and plug them back in. This works much better. All in all, this splitter works great. Whether you're using this to bypass HDCP or just to display an HDMI signal on multiple TVs, this is a good purchase. Although, PS3/4 users keep in mind, all HDMI splitters DO NOT bypass HDCP. I know Orei splitters do the job, and I've heard Sewell splitters also work. ViewHD, for example, doesn't bypass HDCP.
