Castle Art Supplies 72 Colouring Pencils for Adults - Professional

I’m no artist, I just enjoy colouring, and these pencils are perfect for the job, soft but not too soft, good bright colours , plenty of shades, I ummed and arred,but honestly, for the money I’m impressed. Oh, and the carry case is a very handy bonus. Would buy again.

I have many different brands of coloured pencils inc. faber castell polys. water colours, inktense, artezas. I had been looking at these castle art coloured pencils for a little while. I came across these 72 pencils in a zip up case and bought them via prime. These pencils are excellent for the money. The black zip closure case is great, very well made and has an area of elastication in the middle of the case where you can fit a couple more pencils or pens. I have secured two small posca pens, a good white pencil, blender pencil and an eraser pencil into this case, which ive found very handy. All 72 pencils fit inside perfectly into their individual elasticated holders where they are very easy to remove and return after use. You can see the identifying number of each pencil very clearly. The pencils dont have names and personally thats fine by me, i dont need names on my pencils. As long as i can identify them and these are easily id'd from their numbers. They are wax pencils and are very soft, you can layer them so well. They blend pretty well too. For any novice colour pencil users if you find your work becomming a bit streaky with these pencils just give a burnishing with a light colour or smooth over with a blender pencil and the area will become very smoothed out and the streaks will be gone. They came sharpened nicely which was good. For detailed areas i gave them a couple of turns in my manual sharpener and was pleased that they sharpened into a very fine point. Once i had a superfine point on these castleart pencils they laid the colour down with no crumbling. There are loads of reviews for these same pencils that are in the tin. The odd poor review I believe must be from people who dont know how to use coloured pencils as i have had no problems with them so i wouldnt let the odd review put you off. . I received them yesterday. I started the fairy picture yesterday when i got them and have finished this evenning and i think they have worked great, they did everything a good coloured wax pencil should do. There are some lovely colours included, many of the colours are great for skin tones. The only con I can say about these pencils is thet the white is not very good, however it cab be used for burnishing or blending but its not opaque enough for using as white. This is quite common with coloured pencils where often the white is not that great, so I'm not too fussed about that. Ive added the finished picture which i did with these pencils. They really are great performers. Im very pleased with this purchase and think they are good value for money.. I'd say to anyone try them as Im sure you will be super satisfied with this kit. Update sept 2019. A few more pictures completed using these pencils, I have found that these pencils do have alot of wax bloom, however for the price with the case they are still a very worthwile purchase.

Fantastic for the price!! Super creamy. Vibrant colours. Brilliant blending. Amazing assortment of colours too. Ignore the bad reviews, they almost put me off buying them. My husband is super fussy and he was over the moon with them.

Thoroughly recommended pencils although, retrospectively, I probably would have gone for the larger set of pencils that Castle Arts do. I assumed that 72 pencils would be enough but it seems that when you're using colouring materials, there isn't really any limit to the number of colours you might like (I say like as you probably don't actually need them). In any event, subsequently, I supplemented them with a set of pastel coloured pencils and a cheap set from a chain store. The case the pencils came in is very useful, although I would hesitate to say (as in the features listed above) that it was good for travelling - to be honest, it is a little on the bulky side for travelling but there is room to add other pencils you might subsequently buy which is very handy. On the whole these pencils have a good depth of colour and while some of them are a little softer and blend a little easier than others none of them are problematical in that respect. As others have said, some of the colours don't really match with the colours shown on the ends of the pencils and I find it helps to keep a piece of scrap paper to check the colours as you work but I would probably do that in any event, even if the ends did match the colours of the pencils. I was very impressed by the attitude of the company in keeping me informed as the order progressed. It seems that these people really do care about their customers and a lifetime guarantee is something you don't often come across these days. I would definitely recommend the company and would buy these pencils again.

This is simply a fantastic set of artist's coloured pencils in a sturdy smart case suitable for any grade of an artist. I personally always like to purchase a separate case to decanter all my colour pencils from awkward to work with multiple layer tins, into a soft pencil roll or pencil case, finding them easier to store and protect. I am delighted with this quality zipped case with its internal sleeves and 72 coloured pencils make viewing and accessing your required colour selections a breeze. These pencils are all uniformly quality finished and come perfectly sharpened ready for drawing. This pencil set would make a perfect gift. The pencils are indeed smooth and have a creamy texture, they lay down well allowing consistent smooth colours that blend together easily. I have a significant pencil collecting issue lol, and have pencils from many manufacturers and yet this set comfortably matches performance and represents real value for money. Customer service follow up e-mails reassure that if there were any issues, they would be resolved timely, but I can't imagine any arising but credit where it's due.

I dont often review products but I this product along with customer service is outstanding. The packaging was sturdy and protected the colouring pencils. No breakages. The case that the pencils come in was perfect for my needs. Easy to travel with. Easy to see all the colours. The colours are all numbered with a great range of colours. The pencils are easy to hold wirh a handy colour band on the bottom which seems to be an accurate representation of the colour. I have tried every colour on a colour chart and the range of colours seems good to suite my needs. I am fairly new to colouring but have tried layering which seems to work well. I note that the pigments lay down well. I have not sharpened yet. The pencils are stated as a soft pencil and they have a waxy feel. The customer service is great with a couple of e-mails and offering a life time guarantee for faults. I have other middle of the range pencils and these are amazing quality for the price range.

I colori sono brillanti, ben assortiti e all'interno dell'astuccio troviamo un libretto che spiega alcune tecniche di colore. La matita è morbida, quindi la ritengo poco adatta ai bambini perché tendono a calcare molto la mano e queste matite potrebbero risultare troppo fragili se si ha una mano pesante. Nel temperarle non ho ancora trovato una mina rotta. Ho aspettato un po' per recensirle perché volevo provare tutti i colori e valutarle a lungo termine. Io personalmente mi ci trovo benissimo, adoro sovrapporre i colori e sfumare e con queste matite è facile: i colori si fondono senza problemi. Il colore si stende senza fatica 😍 Rapporto qualità/prezzo ottimo. Ritengo siano buone matite al pari di altre note marche di fascia media. Ci sono tante varianti di questa marca: la confezione da 120 matite e quelle acquerellabili potrebbero essere le prossime che acquisterò! Prodotto consigliato. I love these colouring crayons. Their colour is denser and more vibrant than any I’ve ever found, and they glide on like butter. Yes they’re expensive, but oh they are a joy to use. They blend well and have an amazing colour range. The finish is vibrant, consistent and not patchy. Highly recommend! They also sharpen really smoothly, and the case is a great add on. I love that they come in a proper colour order, not just jumbled up. They even have a swatch card and lots of how to bits :)
