There was an accident not far from me where the poor pup was thrown from the vehicle and killed, which led me on a search to find a safe way to travel with my bestie. I love taking her everywhere with me, and I did have a strap to connect her to the safety belt, but I just did not feel like her harness or safety restraint were substantial enough. After a great deal of research I settled on the Kurgo Tru-Fit Enhanced Strength Dog Harness. My first impressions when it was delivered was that it is a very substantial harness. All buckles and fittings are steal, and the chest plate on the front is shaped in a way that actually covers her without cutting in to her. I should mention that my pup is a 70lb standard poodle, so finding something that fits her can be challenging. Not a problem with the Kurgo as there are 5 different areas that can be adjusted so it allows for a custom fit. The steel latches are extremely easy to work with, and once set, will hold the sizing until you decide to change them. After fitting her I put her in the back seat and we were off. In its most restrictive setting, I found that this combination holds her securely and allows her to sit and lay down without giving her extra room to move around. That is exactly what I wanted so we went out for a drive, got some ice cream, and then stopped and I attached her leash to the new harness and we went for a walk. I like that this harness does not restrict or cut in to her leg movements as so often happens with this breed because of the deep chest. We are very happy with this product and highly recommend it. This pup is a part of our family and we want to make sure she is kept safe and secure, and this does the job! To whoever designed this, thank you!

My dogs and I love this seat belt harness from KURGO. Safe, comfortable, well made and easy to adjust to the exact fitting your dog needs.Anchors them safely in the back seat while driving. And it doubles as a walking harness when we are out hiking, with top and front leash rings. If I stop at a store it's easy to unclip the carabiner so the dogs can move around in the back seat, then re clip them when driving. However I would not have this be a harness that my dogs wore at home - a little too sturdy.What's not to like? Highly recommend.

I recently adopted a lovable ,goofy Weimaraner, "Porter" (to add to my canine family of an older Weim and a much older rescue mix-breed.) The first car trip with him (to the vet) was traumatic for BOTH of us. He "spazzed out" , barking, seat jumping and smearing nose or mouth fluids on EVERY window and sliding off the seat when I braked. At that point, I realized that I needed harnesses for the safety of all 3 dogs while driving with them. Luckily, I found this Kurgo crash tested harness and ordered it ( and was lucky enough to get it at a discounted price for my honest review because I just. LOVE to give advice! ). , which is GREAT for Amazon shoppers ..but maybe, NOT SO MUCH for a harmonious marriage. (But that's another story..😕) Anyway, this harness is great! It is VERY adjustable and fits my mid-sized dog..the 61 lb. one great.. but... I truly believe that it is made so well that my 55 lb. shelter mix or even my larger 90 lb. Weim could wear it. The harness is super easy to put on. I adjusted it ahead of time so I only have to fasten one clasp once it is on my fidgety dog. After my terrible experience with Porter and my realization that ALL. dogs should be safely tethered(not just hyper, freaking out dogs) to keep them out of my lap while driving and from sliding off my slick leather seats when I swerve to avoid sofas, mattresses and other "road garbage" on our Alabama interstates but also ,when I have to brake suddenly when the idiot in front of me abruptly stops because he or she is frantically mopping very hot Starbucks off his/her lap.(And, I've recently learned from my vet that folks in my city are getting large tickets for un-tethered dogs...which is because of a law that most folks have never heard of and one that really ticks me off because it's an easy way for the city to collect more money! Again... another story...) In the past, this unexpected braking has sent my sweet, calm dogs tumbling ...butt over head, into my floorboard, risking severe injuries. This harness fits ALL my requirements! It is extremely well made ,with a padded chest plate and adjustable straps that don't pinch or bind. I will admit, the way the metal clasps worked threw me at first (because of the unique and unusual way they work) but, after buying several harnesses, I can truly say that THIS is the best and most secure harness I have found! Porter seems very accepting and comfortable while wearing it. When it arrived, I put it on him and went for a "test drive.". He was able to sit or stand and , even with sudden turns or braking, he was absolutely safe and remained safely upright in the seat! AND, as a plus, I didn't have to Windex every window afterwards! The ONLY reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the tether attachment is not adjustable ( unlike another one I purchased.) Over all, this is a fantastic product and I feel a little guilty for downgrading the FREE. seat belt tether. ( Note the photo-bomber in the picture that shows the. odd but secure metal clasp. ha!)

I’m so impressed with this harness. The way I see it, when you’re shopping for a (LIFE SAVING DEVICE) car harness for your dog, you’re looking for three things: Safety, Convenience, and Cost.This harness is safe and affordable. Thus, it’s not the most convenient option in the world.Safety: The build quality is FANTASTIC. It’s engineered for performance, the clasps and stitching feel strong. With its appearance and construction in mind, I trust the honesty of the crash-testing. I believe Kurgo is one of few really good dog-gear brands.Convenience: Because this needs to be snug, it requires both un-clipping the rear clips and loosening the front clips in order to slip the harness over my dogs head. It’s a bit of a hassle, tbh. It hasn’t stopped me from using it, because the peace of mind knowing my dog is *actually* safe in the car is so much more important than a few seconds of my time.Maybe I’ll pay more in the future for a more ‘convenient’ option, but for now this harness is incredible for us.

It was a great product. Built well. Did take me a while to set up. Unfortunately someone took the carabiner out of the car when my dad carpooled and now we can never use the product again. I don't have enough money to repurchase the item. :(

Doesn’t work for barrel chests. It won’t stay in the middle and ends up diagonal or bunching up weird. I can’t see this being helpful if it can’t stay put on the dog

Well made, easy to fasten and sturdy construction make this harness my go to for our 8 month old Standard Poodle. Works well for car use and long walks. Would definitely recommend!
