Adobe InDesign 2020 release Classroom in a Book

This book does not cover some important features.
Having been through a Lynda tutorial on InDesign, I wanted a reference book to help me recall the many features. This book appeared to be comprehensive, but while it covers many features of ID quite well, there is NOTHING about using footnotes or creating references and indexes. These are critical features when laying out a technical book, but I still must rely on internet searches and windy tutorial videos to show me how to do them.Because the online information was sketchy on these features - which I need to use in the publication on which I'm working - I was disappointed at these omissions - particularly when it is an Adobe published "official training workbook." I wonder what else has been left out of the book.

Big problem, Amazon!!! With the Paperback selected first, click on Kindle. Oh oh
Clicking on Kindle version of InDesign CC 2020 CIB brings up the 2015 edition. I accidentally ordered it and didn't realize it. Does the 2020 Kindle version even exist yet???? Big problem.

Great course in InDesign on the cheap
I needed a refresher course on In Design to continue a graphic design certificate program that I'm starting again. This book worked perfectly for me. Using the content provided with the code on the back of the book, I worked through all the features of In Design in a couple of weeks. It was just like taking a course at the community college. Many classes even use these books as the textbook. Just a lot more inexpensive! You have to have some self-discipline and the time to really complete all the exercises to get the most out of the book. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because I think it's a little greedy and wasteful to make the code for the digital content of the book only accessible once. Books should be used and passed on, including any digital content. Because without the digital content it would almost be useless.

"New" isn't actually "new"
The book itself isn't the issue in this case. It's the listing itself. I selected "new" when I made this purchase and when it arrived, it was very clearly *not* new. There are large creases in the book's cover and some of the pages, like it had been bent and propped open while being read (see pictures). I choose to purchase new books for a reason and if I had wanted a used book, I wouldn't have paid extra for a new copy. Extremely disappointed.

Great learning book for Indesign user
Immediately ordered this book when I saw it. Highly recommend it to designer who want to keep learning or pass the Adobe exam.

Book just like described, but code did not work at first
I received my new book a few days ago, but when trying to enter the code provided in the back, I got a message that said that my code was already in use (even though I ordered a new book). I contacted Peachpit.com and got a reply from them quickly and got the problem fixed.

Great lesson book
This book is really helpful for me in learning more about InDesign and how it works. You can do the lessons in the book by downloading it from peachpit.com with the code in the back of the book. Do not by used because of the code being used by another person.

The Official Training Workbook
I bought this book and then I saw the 2017 edition & I can't imagine that much would change. I needed to get reacquainted with InDesign and chose the Adobe version instead of the other InDesign books. There are lesson plans that take you thru the steps and help you get familiar with all the commands. Despite it not being the 2017, I'm still glad I made this purchase and it's $21 cheaper than the 2017 version.

It has helped me to pass the Adobe ACA Exam
I used this book to prepare for the Adobe ACA exam, and followed the step by step video tutorials. Redeeming the code on the website and downloading all the lessons was straightforward. The time taken to complete each lesson was at least twice, if not longer than that indicated. This is because I completed the lesson by both reading and watching the videos. If you only watch the videos the time reduces considerably, but you would miss out on some tips that appear on the text only. The great advantage was to be able to replay a video for particularly challenging tasks, something one cannot do as easily when attending a class.

Content seems good but glitchy Kindle book.
So far so good as far as the lesson content is concerned. However when I get to lesson 3 and turn the page, it jumps straight to lesson 4 (pages 56 to 68) on my Kindle Fire. So frustrating - all of my other books are fine. Think I may have to miss a lesson at this rate.

this was an excellent self-teaching aid
For as far as it went, this was an excellent self-teaching aid. The steps were simply and logically explained and built progressively to provide overall confidence with the product. If it had gone so far as to include how to publish print books as well as eBooks (including chapters, sections, TOCs etc), I would have given it five stars.

Lessons Plans Would Be Nice
This is the second copy of the book I have received and in both instances the code to redeem the lesson plans has not worked. Both times I have had to remove the paper tab covering the code, and both times Peachpit.com has displayed an error message that the code is already in use.Unfortunately the return period for this product has passed and I am stuck with a useless book and no lesson plans. Unsurprisingly, I am annoyed.
