Get this model with 2 sides and not 3 sides
Most professional distribution tools use two sides and not three sides. The two sides spread the coffee better.Sort of how they make crepes. That two only has two sides to spread the batter. The same goes here. When I use the three sides what happens is part of it digs on the side and I do not get a perfect distribution.More sides is not better. One single line down the center that creates two sides is the best approach.

It worked
Build quality is very good. The surfaces are polished mirror shine. Fits well to IMS 54 mm 18-22 g basket with plenty of depth for adjustment. There is nothing to pick on. It makes puck packing very pleasant.

Quality tamper and wedge distributor. Buy them.
Ok, so I'm writing two reviews: Two Dailyart products seem combined under the same review. One review is for the distributor and one is for the calibrated tamper. I purchased both recently. In short, both are simple but quality pieces for everyday use. Personally, they work really well with my 58mm bottomless portafilter on a Rancilio Ms. Silvia. There is a tad bit of play from side to side in each piece but nothing to be concerned about. For example, there is the same amount of play my Rattleware 58mm tamper side to side. The dstributor wedge can be adjusted from a very shallow depth all the way down to as much as a half an inch + into the portafilter. That's nice flexibly to have. Also, there's no weird 1/8 inch inward machining gap like on other brands (i.e. OCD knockoffs) if you venture past their recommended stock distribution depth of less than 1/4 inch. My Dailyart distributor weights 442 grams. Nice heft and pretty great product for the price. Gets the job done well! The Dailyart tamper is also pretty nice. Its calibrated to around its advertised 30lbs of pressure. I tested it with some bumbell weights. It weighs 448 grams which is 40 grams more than my Rattleware tamper. Not as ergonomic as Rattleware but the benefit of knowing your tamp weight is better to me.Wasn't familiar with Dailyart but they have definitely become apart of my daily art in morning espresso making. Honestly, both of these Dailyart pieces have made my espresso morning's a lot more efficient and consistent. Hope this is helpful to someone.

Is it necessary or just an affectation?
This tool is solid, well made, easy to adjust, is comfortable to use and just plain looks nice next to my espresso machine. With that said, I bought this to try to help ensure a more consistent density coffee puck and prevent the occasional water burst throughs and underextraction. While it does produce a pretty looking puck that "appears" uniform, looks can be deceiving. Unless you have rapped the portafilter and done a "pre-smoothing" with a finger before using it, this coffee distributing tool does not seem to ensure that under the smooth surface the coffee grinds are always of even density throughout. So unless I also-afterwards- do a little rocking/rotating with my 58mm tamper before doing the 30lb press, I've had few nasty cases of water drilling through the puck, resulting in a throwaway shot. With all the technique adjustments I've made, most shots are now consistently good but I'm not sure that this tool -by itself-saves time or has made a meaningful improvement to my espresso shot quality. But I'm still using it, so what does that say about me?

Solid and affordable
Despite having a higher end home espresso machine and mazzer grinder for over 8 years at home, consistent shots and channeling have always been an issue. I use fresh beans (weekly), so the issue is me. I wanted to try a doser/distributor to make my shots more consistent, but didn't want to spend $150 on an OCD. This seems to be working so far, and at a fraction of the price. The quality of the milling is nice and it's adjustable enough for my setup. The only thing I don't like is the edges are smooth and a bit hard to grip. I would prefer some knurling or maybe a flat outer edge to make it easier to grip. It's not a huge deal, but worth mentioning.

Little too small
I like wedge/chisel designs like this because they don't have flat areas on the bottom that compact the grounds downward as soon as you place it, like the OCD and its many clones do. The biggest problem with this one is that it's a little undersized - probably more like 56mm than 58. It's easy to end up pushing some of the grounds over the edge of the filter basket. It could also use a little more adjustment range.

Great for the price
Does the job at a great price point.

Distributes well
Really surprised by how much this has helped. I should caution that I am very new to espresso making, and I was trying to manually distribute and having significant trouble. I would always have channelling when I would examine the puck after making the espresso. Using this I've had no troubles since. I haven't used any of the more expensive ones (c.f. OCD), but am really impressed with this one. It has a significant heft, and could potentially be used by itself for tamping. The adjustment mechanism is also solid, I've had no issues with the height changing when I didn't want it to.
