One-handed operation!
Worked great; had to shim the back end of the switch with two little pieces of velcro so my hand could activate it, but absolutely no other issue - well worth the price.

Convenience at the cost of ergonomics
I own a p226 legion. I got a Surefire x300U to go with it but the switches were very stiff. It was to the point of me trying to turn the light off only for it to stay on due to me having to apply so much force for it to move it would move past the off position to the opposite "on" direction.I decided to try this as an alternative. It is very well made for what it is. It functioned flawlessly and was much easier to turn on.However, this came at a cost. The way this was designed made it cover the deeper u cut at the trigger guard that the legions come standard with. It's definitely something that you can train around but, for how nice that cut feels compared to a standard p226, it really made me just work at the switches for a while longer. In summary, its great in form and function, but for the legion owners out there, it's going to take quite a bit of time to get used to not having that really comfy undercut.

Perfect for home/self defense use
While there are those who will advocate carrying a hand-held light with their handgun, I've always trained and found it more useful to have a weapon-mounted light (while still carrying a hand-held light as a backup.... remember, 2 is 1 and 1 is none). The DG switch does exactly what it was intended on doing, and that is to activate the weapon-mounted light by gripping your gun tightly.I actually have 2 of these switches, one on a 1911 and one on my Glock (this review pertains to the 1911, since I purchased that switch from Amazon). On either gun, the switch neatly tucks under the trigger guard leaving no gap between the frame and switch. Your middle finger, unless you shoot unconventionally, will activate the light. If you don't have a good & secure grip on the gun, the slight will not activate. I find this as a good thing since the light acts as a training device, telling you when you have a good grip to shoot the gun.A couple of things to note....First, the light may look like it's dimming on you at times. That's because if you loosen up your grip, but still have enough pressure on the switch pad, it will activate the light but vary on the brightness. The switch acts like an On/Off switch, but it also regulates the current going to the light. I can actually make my X300 light up dim and then squeeze the grip tighter and make the light bright at its full potential. Kind of interesting to experience for the first time when shooting in a low light course or situation, so just be aware of that. This happens with both my DG-18 and DG-11 switches on my X300 Ultra.Second, I can still use the momentary activation with my index finger or support thumb, but the light will only turn on when you turn the knob clockwise. With the factory X300 cover, the light will turn on if you turn the switch clockwise or counter-clockwise. If you turn the DG switch counter-clockwise, the light will not turn on. Again, not a deal breaker but just be aware of that if you are used to turning on your X300 lights that way.

Check the fit
Easy to install. Once installed, there a small gap between the on/off switch and grip. For me it was enough to push the switch to the side when I gripped the gun, this made activating the switch difficult sometimes. I would not want to depend on this is a stressful situation.Returned.

As designed
My old one was worn out, this works perfectly.

Not a fan
Its well made but I kinda regret buying it. I cant keep a tight grip without the light being on. I kinda wish it was a harder button but it does exactly what it is suppose to do.

Careful with that Middle Finger
The grip switch works as advertised and easily installs without tools. It does not interfere with the fit of my holster and is well made. It's nice to not have three feet of cord hanging off your pistol. My only issue is the trigger can only bee pulled by the middle finger. You Must Practice your draw and presentation to ensure that you don't automatically engage the light but more importantly not sympathetically fire the weapon when engaging the light. If you are shooting without engaging the light it requires enough hand strength to securely hold and fire the weapon without your middle finger.Admittedly this is a rare occurrence as I engaging the light by day won't matter and I'm assuming you want the light on when shooting in the dark. Still, it requires practice dry firing and improving your grip strength to. Off identity carry it.
