Dura-Gold 5" Gold Sanding Discs, 40 Grit, Box of 50, 8 Hole Pattern, H & L

I was in the process of sanding down a large wood deck and it was taking forever as I was doing it manually with an orbital sander using 60 grit sandpaper from Ace. I ordered these 40 grit discs from Amazon and OMG it was light years easier. I sailed through the rest of this project quickly. Some areas were there were knotholes which were elevated beyond the surface of the deck. I quickly sanded them down smoothly so there was no trip hazard left. Some of the boards seemed a bit concave and the ends were protruding a bit creating another trip hazard but those quickly got knocked down by the 40 grit. The entire surface of the deck was now smooth almost bare. The end result was a very smooth cohesive look and was gorgeous when painted. Needless to say, I'm keeping these in my arsenal for future projects. Oh by the way, forgot to mention, I'm 80. If I can do this you most certainly can.

I am blown away by the quality of these sanding discs! I've had to remove tool marks from two work pieces flattened with a router sled (dining room table top and live edge bathroom vanity slab). Till now, I was using cheap 40 grit discs which required a TON of time to remove the tool marks. Then, I switched to these Dura-Gold ones and my job went literally TWICE as fast. They are SO aggressive and strong (which is what I wanted with a 40 grit disc). After 30 minutes of non-stop sanding, my first disc looks brand new. These are going to last for a LONG time!

The grit is good and I can say a 40 grit stays a 40 grit for quite some time. Thats refreshing. However, so far the felt backing started coming off during sanding and I had to change several times to finish my project. I will just use those for hand sanding but that became bothersome.

I've been using these to sand away tearout on end grain cutting boards after routing and they've treated me pretty well. I've only been able to find two options for 40-grit so it's difficult to give a well-rounded review, but I had been using the generic maroon discs that are also available on Amazon and these are much better. I didn't have issues with the backing on either, but these discs are significantly more durable in my opinion.

I do a lot of sanding on old furniture that has many layers of paint and varnish on it. I dislike using chemicals as on one piece it ruined the wood. This has the power to cut through the layers and not gum up in less than 5 minutes.

Excelente producto

I wouldn't say these are of "professional" quality but if you are looking for 40 grit sandpaper to do some heavy sanding (like removing texture from walls or paint) these should work just fine. For the price, I'm fine with blowing through twice as much sandpaper as the professional brands. These have some pretty heavy grit to them.
